I'm not familiar with that term in reading. In literature, you sometimes have a third person narrator, who's an outside viewer... in the video, we're talking about the viewpoint that the writer brings into any text, including non-literary texts. Thanks for watching and leaving a question! :D

The author's point of view is how the author approaches that point--that is, positively, sarcastically, neutrally, and so on. As a result, even in an informative passage, writers bring in their biases and beliefs. As readers, when we detect the author's point of view, we should be aware that the information will be presented from within that point of view and perhaps leave out alternative explanations. I hope that answers your question. :D
