flares are so important! they are super common so it’s worth it to drop one in dark buildings or on the road since it saves time from scrounging around in the dark.
on top of the light source, you can throw them to distract abductors or to get rid of tourists by triggering their explosions from a safe distance.
Good points! I remember using them at the start. I find you can usually drive round the tourists so I don't bother now and I think if you have a decent screen you can be lazy and fumble around in the dark lol.
lol definitely been lazy and skipped it but i also just love the tactile vibe of dropping flares and the red illuminating it all.
i throw them in dicey situations like tourists filling an area i want to loot or when a bunch of abductors are around i’ll toss one to shew em away. just love the emergent gameplay in this title!

I have never liked survival type games, but Pacific Drive seems really freaking interesting and I can't wait to play it.
It's really very good if you can survive the steep learning curve.

The first time you run into anomalies you learn what they do, and most of them can be avoided 99% of the time.
Upgrades for cars is nice, and you definitely need to upgrade, but that also is super easy. You can keep farming the easiest locations to amass limitless amounts of loot.
By the time you get to the second area, the game is a breeze. You can literally beat the game, with the most basic upgrades with very little trouble.
@@Cramblit It's a lot to process early on but yeah the game gets less difficult once you get some good upgrades. Though it's never plain sailing.
I always thought the trucks were just decoration, this was very helpful.
Glad it helped! I've not found anything else better for volume of loot.
I appreciate the last quip at the end of the video, after seeing all the flavor text in the upgrades making regular jabs to the Revolutionary war and how "Americans can now call it whatever we want while it hauls the same capacity of 6 british vehicles" 😂

This game is something else…. Never experienced anything like it. Definitely an awesome experience so far. I don’t usually play these games…. But how could you not give this game a shot after listening to the Skill Up review….. so glad I did so.
I haven't seen that review but I know he and another bigger channel really love the game. My review is now live too.
Take advantage of story related areas with 'perpetual stability'. The storm won't show up until you either complete the quest, or gate out. Furthermore, it won't lose its perpetual effect until you advance the.story. Drive there, take your time harvesting and looting everything you can, gate out, and repeat. I built up an absolutely silly stockpile of marsh eggs, tree candy, coral, and unstable energy by doing this.
This is a great tip except for the final mission, which does not let you return from beyond a certain point. Anything before that though should be golden!
Here's a tip. Game settings, accessibility, lighter nights, switch to on.
Is this one of the options that disables achievements? Good tip though, decent displays with good black levels essential! Or unlock better headlights and carrying lights (bio stuff).

Damn that darker darkness is Hevvy.
You cannot even see where the road ends and forest starts. Not fun without headlights!
Also, you can rotate items in your inventory! I was _hoping_ that it had this feature but I couldn't figure it out. But I finally did thanks to TH-cam! If on PC, hold left click on your mouse and push the R button on your keyboard. If you're on a controller like X-box it's R-trigger and you can use the analog stick, if PS controller it's R2 and the analog stick. SO USEFUL for rearranging your inventory! Plus Dumpster Pearls stuck in the matter deconstructor is WORTH IT!
1) farming autoshop isnt necessary later on (only realy needed for the first couple of drives) , but ALWAYS loot the friendly garbages they give repair kits and out there perals
2) dont mix tires on left / right, if need be mix them front/back ... aka having ofroad tires in the fron is OK, having them only on left is NOT
3) punctureproof tires are only realy needed in the front, never had damaged tire in the back
3) there are gameplay options that make the game way easier without disabling achievements, consider them if you want
Good tips. I definitely found the farming trick useful for longer but I think the developers have enhanced the rate of crafting item drops. I also have had punctures at the back but maybe that changed too!
3) = i so had to do this. i was getting destroyed every time i'd trigger the escape portal. .. fuck that red storm of doom
I love seeing how precise people are at parking, we really need a park brake key!
Tip: Don't let your gear break all the way. Instead, toss it in the recycler when it's low and you'll get most of the mats back, then craft a new piece.

You can also throw a light flare at those mannequins taking out whole groups, and sometimes they drop thermosap crystals. I've never seen that any where else. I don't even know what thay are for yet.

Armoured car parts drop ThermoSap too. It's used later on in parts and upgrades, you get it naturally when you progress far enough.
Also works if you throw any marerialt
I lucked out big time with a quirk that allows a free speed boost forward every time I turn off the windshield wipers. So I can run with the first engine if I wanted all the way to the end np. Scale steep hills and speed past enemies with little effort, it actually gets dangerous and uncontrollable if you get overzealous with turning on and off the windshield wipers lol!
super lucky, the only quirk i've got that i like opens passenger side door when i park lol

Oh yes, review incoming. It is one brutal, unforgiving monster. I love it. Though apparently some people are upset about the PS5 version.

Bring on some DLC!
You can swap parts without dropping them etc. With the desired item you want to install in hand, hold your interact button and voila! Easy switch.
No more will you be picking up, then dropping, then uninstalling unwanted part, dropping that, picking up desired item, installing it. Make your life EZ.
Oooh, really? This is news to me, I had been dropping car parts since day one. Nice.
Before I activate a gateway I drop a way point on the map at or around it(sometimes it won't let me drop one on it for some reason) makes finding it MUCH easier, especially in heavily wooded areas so no don't have keep looking at my passenger seat (wtf with the horrible screen location, lol) and plow into trees and tourists while trying to make it 😁
Is there a negative to switching on headlights, other than battery drain(if that's a thing) ?
In fog, like in real life, it can make things too bright. But otherwise no, just battery drain. No enemies will notice you anymore or less with headlights on and damage seems the same.

never thought there would be another game like subnautica that induces panic this efficiently...
the panic in pacific drive is not routed in terror but quite effectiv!... it kinda lacks the peacfull moments that subnautica had.
Subnautica is on my list to play, looks great. There could be a little more peace in Pacific Drive but then the lack of it makes the garage even more a place of solitude!
The Liberator is also useful because if you put an explosive right between pieces, such as a door and a panel, you can use one shot for two pieces!!

@@ATribeCalledCars Yeah im so stoked that it can get a few parts with one shot, i also think if its not put directly on a part, said part takes less damage, but id need to test it.
@@StagFiesta Seems like it or damage is randomised because I seem to get the odd part fully intact.
Does the abductor only attack if you cross their cyan colored lights? Or can it sense you in its vicinity in other ways?
It attacks when close and is meant to prioritise Bunnies so you can actually use the Abductors to your advantage. Otherwise, just drive round and ensure you do not have anything equipped it can grab if on foot. Usually though it just drags you along for a bit or takes some materials or parts on the ground elsewhere.

@@abhijeetdey Nope, just holds it and moves a bit. The aggressive version can be more brutal but they are more annoying than anything.
Do you collect energy by taking the yellow anchors?..if so, where do u find the to other types?
Exactly that. Unstable Energy Anchors comes from the Mid-Zone and Corrupted from the Deep Zone. Check my need to know guide in the description for the mission requirements.
Another thing to note is if you go into a zone that has one of those red storms over it on the map, the Anchors will usually upgrade to the next type up (not sure if you need access to that zone first or not though). So a storm-covered Outer Zone anchor would be Unstable instead of Stable and a storm-covered Mid-Zone anchor would be Corrupted.

Would you recommend this game for someone with 1000 hours (and counting) of Snowrunner?!! I also enjoyed Death Stranding
Absolutely, my review is out today. Basically, it is tough but excellent on PC. Especially worth a look with the 10% discount on Steam (and maybe Epic, I have not checked).
Just finished the game last night. Overall it was ok but I think it could've been done much better:
- Less looting, more driving. It really would be better off named Pacific Run and Loot.
- Up the difficulty. 42 hours played and didn't die a single time.
- Lower the materials requirements for higher/later upgrades. All the really interesting upgrades' materials are pretty much locked behind the final zone - or at least the quantities needed for the upgrades.
- Story ends abruptly and flatly. A running sequence at the end was...kind of dumb.
- Post game content that's interesting. I have zero desire to just drive around and loot to upgrade stuff for the sake of upgrading.
Valid comments. The ending I did by accident with no panels, bit anti climactic and I agree there should be more driving and mysteries to pursue. Big Foot is cool, there should be other little secrets and spooky goings on. Upgrades definitely come a bit late, not great for us but I think some tweaking would help new players get the most out of it. I definitely had a great time though.
I had previously stated in this comment before editing that the auto vacuum shop function worked like a storage unit. It is not in fact and I lost a significant amount of rarer upgrade materials this way. DO NOT store or leave things in the shop vacuum!

When you travel to a tombstone node, what indicates inside the map where the wreckage is?
It shows on the car map, I think the same icon but I'm not at my PC. Will be exactly where you died.
@@ATribeCalledCars Yeah pretty certain I was at the exact point but saw nothing. Now I'm confused, logged in today and it seems I lost everything but the cosmetics, so that's great. I got like 5 on that run

@@foggyvhs8790 That's a bug that is supposed to be fixed, maybe it's just on PC and coming to PS5. Not sure what you're playing on. You have to do trial and error to put each panel back on as they disappear sometimes like you said. Not great! I'm not sure if there is a timer on the tombstone. I assumed it would remain until you do another run or die again but haven't tested.
@@ATribeCalledCars I was able to find the tombstone and get my stuff! As for the glitch I scrapped every single panel and door, I think gifted stuff from dumpster gives you no mats tho. Did a run and got my own parts

Lol yeah it happens sometimes although some of those frame-rate drops are because I'm playing the game and recording at 4K 60FPS. Maybe something like a 7950X would solve that but meh, would be a few upgrades and I'm happy with what I have for now.

It is for stability. The worse the instability, the more it moves around basically!

You're doing well then, I died a few times when pushing my luck. But now it's difficult with all the fancy equipment.
You won't if you made it that far. I never died once either, other than on purpose for the remnant ghost. Honestly I was grinding for all the parts to make a set of panels of each type to keep in the parts locker waiting for it to get super hard, and you can beat the game easy with only lead panels, leak proof back seat gas tank, fuel synthesizer, and a side battery.
What to do about a battery charge and I'm outside of the shop and don't have enough to build a battery charger
If you run out of battery charge, the only penalty is any items which require power will not work (aka headlights, abilities, etc) - the engine will still start and run. So if you run out of battery charge you can still drive - I'd recommend either trying to scavenge the parts so you can make a charger, or try and make a Gateway either via anchors or a Stabilizer if one's available so you can exit back to the garage at the first opportunity.
Offroaders are a d r e a m. Get em first. Always.
Yes and yes and yes. I was trying out Power Grip, good for hills but generally not as great.
How on earth you save? Even in the garage after done some work just can't save! Loading the supposedly last save takes me back whare lost my car and have to walk to get the remnant, love the game but sadly can't play without able saving-what's the point really?
It should save every time you change a level. So when you go to the next junction and after you go back to the garage.
@@Valkertok Thnx finally I'm getting it, basically I'm still in the 1st run: Which is basically fix the door make some repair-putty and go out to the marked on map waypoint loot as much as possible and get back to save, right?
Scrap your tools before they break. You at least get something back out them that way.

It gets easier, I promise. And there are many difficulty settings but I've enjoyed the challenge. The developers actually mentioned reducing the difficulty in the latest patch so it should not be quite as brutal!
Should i fix my cracked Windows i like keeping them. To me they add character to my ride
If that's how you want to roll, then go for it!
There is one thing stopping me getting this game - no ability to save manually. Can’t play for 1-2 hours? Lose your progress. Got something in the real world that’s come up? You better leave the game running or else you lose your progress. Got kids and typically game in short sessions? Sorry, you can’t just dip in and out and continue where you left off.
It’s dumb and has left me not wanting to buy a game that I was honestly hyped for.
I do wish you could save at least once during a longer drive, but thankfully you can get back in fast time once you know what you are doing and avoid the story, which can take up time. Plus you can also leave the game when at a junction and return later. You can do a quick loot run in well under half an hour so it's maybe still worth investigating. Full review now live :)
I just pause my game and leave it running when the system is in rest mode. It keeps my spot. I play on ps5
The game auto saves between each zone you drive through
I remember just getting lead doors and wanted to progress the story but had to go through a storm and JESUS it was a shit storm, I was doing extremely well and did everything right until a dam tesla coil popped out literally in front of me in a second n costed me losing my lead door, and everything being on red, punctured tires and broken windows and I had no scrap at all. Next area I spent the whole time hoping to find wtv to fix my car, eventually went back to 100 with only 2 doors being lost to the storm
I've been trying to play this game, but having a much more difficult time than I expected. I think I made a mistake and should have done more research before buying it. :(
What are you struggling with? It gets less challenging.
Mess around with the settings, some of them have been incredibly helpful. Specifically pausing the game when you're in menu 😅 Ones that lock you out of achievements will warn you first.
Definitely mess with the settings! Im a super casual gamer and just want to have fun, play the story line, and explore. I put my setting to where I still have some tense moments, but they don’t stress me out. The devs did an amazing job with letting us set the game up to be played in a way that any type of gamer will have a fun time.

I'm drawn to this game, really, but I'm definitely intimidated by the sheer amount of stuff you have to pay attention to or worry about. It seems almost too overwhelming in places. If I buy the game, this video is going to be VERY useful. Thank you. Cheers! //Rick
Having played a lot of it (review incoming), it does have a steep learning curve, a fair bit of inventory management and can be brutal. But it keeps you hooked and there's nothing quite like it out there. Plus it's not a full price game. Though I've seen some complaints about performance on PS5, which I cannot verify as I don't have one.

The worst part is you can't save in between. A single run if done properly will take a lot of time. I don't have so much to invest in a single day
@@abhijeetdey Oh no, I hate when games do that. I'm really not a fan of this trend. It's also a bit disrespectful towards people like us who can't devote an entire afternoon or evening to playing at the computer…
@@abhijeetdey You can at least quit in a new junction and return later. But still not ideal. Though there is an upgrade for coming back more quickly... Video about that coming soon.
I have modified lots of the difficulty settings and I still get achievements on steam
There's only one setting that makes it so they don't unlock. Not entirely sure which it is as the ones I changed didn't stop them for me either.
Here is a tip:
Sometimes car gets weird quirks that can be repaired at the thinker station..
BUT
What if it’s actually super useful quirk? For example the most useful quirk would be a parking device.
What I mean by that is IF LEFT DOOR CLOSES/OPENS THEN GEARBOX TOGGLES! That would be indeed a very useful quirk which basically gives you auto parking device without actually equipping it.
If you find any other useful quirks do tell me.
That would be a great quirk! Unfortunately I've only had bad ones that range from silly to quite irritating. The ones that randomly use your special abilities, thus draining battery, are not fun at all. And the door opening stuff is tedious lol.

I understand no manual saves, it avoids save scumming which kind of defeats the purpose of a survival game.
The game does however need some form of “exit” save when in a zone for those of us that don’t have hours at a time to play.
If I don’t have a solid couple of hours to play I don’t even bother with this game as I don’t want to lose huge amounts of progress. An exit save would keep you in the zone without allowing you to save scum. It would also save you half an hour or more when the game glitches out and becomes unplayable on the middle of a zone.
I feel like the game saves if you quit during a drive although it doesn't save progress so makes sense to do it as you arrive in a new place. Although that's still not particularly flexible!
yeah totally agree, not to mention, it crashed on me once, and i lost on hour of progress. it should just really autosave every few minutes and on quitting the game

It is easy to see what upgrades are available and the story is not a huge part of the experience, I would not worry too much about it.
The story is not a big deal and it is easy to see what upgrades are available.

@@stantheman2756 I don't get all the people saying this game is so challenging at all. I am not some insanely good person at playing video games and I never died once all the way through to the end. The only time I died I did it on purpose so I could scan the remnant ghost. As long as you pick up every single thing that you can, stockpile items, and pay attention to the route map so you know what kind of panels to put on the car it's really not hard at all. What exactly do you have a hard time with? I will give you some tips
@@bradtraq1 do you need to build a hammer each time to destroy the blue stuff? And I never knew what to do with the yellow balls? So you put them in the passenger seat and that’s how you open exit roads???

You only don’t get achievements if you turn off damage to you and car. Everything else you get modify to help you is just fine
I seem to remember some other options disabled achievements unless that was changed recently? You're right about damage!
Most difficulty settings disables achievements on the latest patch. Changing the modifiers doesn't, at least for now.
@@aseroxd ya it warns you of your change person takes no damage and car takes no damage that it turns them off. All the other modifications are open season. I tried several of them to see and they help a little mainly the big exfil storm doesn’t chase you and causes a anxiety attack lol
I just lost my run because the menu glitched and I couldn't back out. Devs need to give save option I do not care if it's not how this game is supposed to be played.

It's boring, I got a refund. feels like they made 1 game mechanic then copy pasted it to make a game. I just felt like I was staring at a screen
This was a really terrible tips and tricks video. Almost no "tips" or "tricks" to be had. This is just a beginner's guide.
A beginner's guide with tips and tricks. I have an advanced guide coming, but this is for newer players who are overwhelmed. Seems like a lot of people have found it useful.
@@ATribeCalledCars I didn't say it wasn't useful. My point is the video is labeled wrong. "Tips and tricks" are things you may miss through normal play. Somewhat hidden or obscure things. This video just covered a bunch of incredibly basic stuff, literal tutorial level stuff. So it should be called a beginner's guide, not a tips and tricks video.
@@varlunmulland3992 I don't think tips and tricks implies anything that specific. Tips can be basic or advanced. And what you deem basic is not necessarily basic for all. I've seen a lot of people asking stuff I included. The tutorial isn't the best either. I'm not sure why have such an issue with the title as most people have simply found it useful and informative.
