Hi James, thanks for taking the time to make this video! I'm looking for a smaller mixer like this one, which is priced quite well for what you get. Current price: $199.00 at Sweetwater. Have a great day.
Hey James, thanks for this video. Can you please help me with a few doubts - 1. What exactly happens when I'm using m1, m2, m3 & m4. w my DAW and I have connected my instrument to stereo input 2 ? 2. Where are the channels 9/10 ? 3. It says that it's a 4in/4out but the only 2 out that I see is the rca monitor out. Where are the other two outputs ? 4. What is the stereo input 3 ? Is it the monitor out ? 5. How can I control the level of my monitor out when using m1, m2, m3, & m4 w my DAW ?
when you use the "monitor know that will only effect the signal being sent to you speakers. when using M1,2,3,4 mode you should be able to control you monitoring via the monitor knob as well. if you mess with the main slider that will effect the signal into your daw. ST2 and ST3 MIX knobs control the volume of USB 1-2, and 3-4.Basically the USB mode effect hoe the signal goes into you PC. I hope I answered all your questions.
Hey James, It’s me again. If you can please help me with another doubt of mine - 1. When using this as an audio interface, can I connect the monitor speakers to the MAIN OUT (xlr) ?? because the Monitor Out is unbalanced (rca) 2. What happens when I press the xlr=mon button when using this as an audio interface ??
Your primary monitors should be connected via XLR, that is how I ran mine. using XLR =monitor I believe just send the signal from you PC to the speakers.
@@thecleverpeasant3006 ohhh gotcha. so is it that if I use xlr=mon, it’ll send my sound from my daw ? and if use the monitor without xlr=mon, then my monitors will give the sound of my instruments before it goes into the daw ??
yes. Just be sure you have the corresponding knob engaged i.e the FX knob, or aux knob. The signal will be sent through the mix control at the bottom of the channel strip.
Hello James here is my problem.Whant to get this mixer for live gig and recording(sound from mixer and video by android smartphone).Im instaling software on phone to can use external sound source. Is it posible in the same time to record via usb and play live performance on main outs? And my 2nd question is : M1 is guitare, M2 guitare and M3 Vocal Mic ,what to press to record all 3 with eq?
I'm not sure how it would work with a smartphone. If you had a mobile DAW maybe you could set it all up through that. If you want m2, m2, m3, m4 to be there own individual track you will not be able to "print the eq". it will essentially work like 4 preamps. if you record everything via the LR with m1, m2, L, R you will beable to have M1 and M2 as individual tracks then the whole mix on LR.
So I bought this to do podcasts. I am trying to record to separate channels through the USB connection but when I change the Eq's I don't hear a change. I have tried several different things but I am getting no where. Any thoughts?
you have to have the zedi10 feed the stereo L & R into the PC every channel should be feeding through the L&R. So you can have have different eqs on all channels but if you want to "print" the EQ it will only be carried through L&R signal to the PC. in this video I'm going in to channel one but in my DAW I'm only recording L&R. It is bit of tricky thing to figure out. Also be sure you are using the mix knobs to send to L&R. Also double check the monitor source button above the main mix fader your problem may be there. Insure that your DAW is recording the L&R of the Zedi10.
Hi James, i have a question, will the individual M1 track contain no EQ when the M1-M2-L-R button is pressed? Because in the video you said if the button is pressed you'd hear the EQ, but i only hear the EQ from the L-R channels.
You'll get the EQ in your monitor mix, but it will only "print" on the L&R. So you could still record M1 and M2 with your eq but only if you are capturing it through the L&R.
Hello James, I have a question. I would like to connect the Elektron Analog Heat as external FX with the Zedi10. How to route easiest to mix it with the individual tracks on the mixer when needed? thank you in advance
I don't use external FX processors with my Zed i10 at the moment. In time I plan on figuring it out. here is a link to the manual there is a diagram on page 11 that explains it. www.allen-heath.com/media/AP10147_1-ZEDi-10FX_User-Guide_A5.pdf
in order to use a condenser mic you have to push the 48v button. That will enable phantom power, however it is phantom on all 4 XLR's. So trying to use dynamic mics and condensers at the same time may cause problems.
But sure to make sure the Zedi 10 is st up for buy double checking if neither one of the "source select" buttons are depressed. Next check in you DAW you may have to add input via the DAWs settings.

Thank you for your brief and to the point input. Very helpful.

James thank you man! This was so useful.

Hi, which one is better for live performance?? ZED 10fx or ZEDi 10fx?? I don't need audio interface..
I would get the effects one for live, having a built in FX selection is often helpful in a live environment.

Hi James,
when button "M1 - M2 - L - R" is selected, does it also record effects from all channels in L-R stereo mix?
Thanks
yes. Just be sure you have the corresponding knob engaged i.e the FX knob, or aux knob. The signal will be sent through the mix control at the bottom of the channel strip.

James, is it possible to use a condenser mic and sm58/sm57 mics at the same time?

If your cable is correct ,xlr the 48 volts won't even hurt a ribbon mike .
I can't record individual tracks simultaneously

@@ravenshadevox I've sorted it now. Is there any way to use the mixer as a controller in DAW?
can this mixer power an sm7b without cloudlifter?
