      if ya cut em up right they don't blow up, except that co-dom split off, bunch of vids of guys cuttin old growth up north, seems like they blow up every other cedar up there.

    Nice, that bar is some years old looking at the tip ?

      all of it was made in the 80's, got a sweet deal on the whole thing though, just needed some work, bar and chain where scrounged, as well as the saw and parts.

    Good video. Do you get asked to borrow your chainsaw very often. I never loan my chainsaw. Do you run 40/1 oil ratio, or ?.

    • @northmanlogging2769
      @northmanlogging2769  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dan, well my saws generally come with me attached, that said I run a business so sometimes my saws get used by other folks, I don't like it but that's business I do run 40/1 mix 92 oct non ethanol fuel, they run "better" on 50/1 but will last much much longer with 40/1, and the big block saws really kinda need 40/1 to keep em a little cooler.

    Nice job!...u run full skip on that big bar?

    • @northmanlogging2769
      @northmanlogging2769  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure, ya seen how much it gets clogged as it is... a full comp would barely make it 2 inches.

      northman logging ya kinda figured...never ran bigger than 36 so wasn't sure...

      gns logging pretty much anything over 32 really don't like full comp unless u got stupid big power

      I mean... its in the title, but if your askin displacement, I think its 123cc pushing like 9hp sporting a 50" bar

    Big old stihlś we do not have in our area.. they were not selling such large saws because they were not needed. So I will never find one in m'y surrounding 😢

      Ebay... or get on the forums arborist site, chainsawr, forestry forum bunch of saw nerds on there making deals, also just cause they where not needed does not mean some crazy person couldn't live without one.... took me a few years of digging and watchin to find this one.

      064's are ok... 066/660 will spin faster, and easier to get parts. Though $400 isn't a bad deal for an 064. Planning on putting my 064 under the dremel soonish.

      I have a STIHL MS 441 C-M w/24" Rollomatic bar, MS 661 C-M w/28" Rollomatic bar, MS 881 R-M w/36' Rollomatic E bar and an MS201 T C-M w/18" Rollomatic bar for limbing and slash cleanup. I use the 881 for big ol' Doug Fir, the 661 for Spruce, Cottonwood & Aspen and 441 for Pine and White Fir (I live in the northwest.) I cut 120-160 cords per season. I use the bigger saws as they run better, cooler and last longer. I have and can cut Doug Fir with my 441, but I prefer a bigger saw w/shorter bar to optimize the performance and assure that I get a season from each with regular maintenance and cleaning.
      I have used a 28" bar on my 881, as Stihl says that you can use a 25" bar on that saw, but I find the balance is off with such a short bar. The 41" is too long for my needs, but the 36" is perfectly sized and gives the saw a good balance and does not tire your back, shoulder and arms from the weight (once you get used to wielding it.)
