Just got a Pietta 1860 in the mail today from Midway USA. Really wanted a Uberti, but extra cylinders were out of stock and twice the cost of Pietta cylinders. I can live with my Pietta, especially since it came with an extra cylinder (albeit unengraved). I will probably purchase a couple of extra engraved cylinders in the near future. Did you have much difficulty at first getting the barrel to fit back together with the frame? The two pins make for a tighter than tight fit, and I have to give it a smack with a rubber hammer to get the barrel and frame to go back together. Is this something that will become easier over time as the pins get worn a little?
I find that I can handle the 1860 better than my Pietta 1858. The 1858 is so front heavy that it places a lot of stress on my arthritic wrist.
That's awesome.. I also wanted the uberti, but really just wanted another 1860. I didn't get any extra cylinder's with mine tho. As far as the 2 pins, mine is very tight also. I think that in time, it will 'wear' together a bit better. I don't have the 58... Someday perhaps.:D
Keep rockin brother!
Pyrodex pellets eh? 😳🙄
Ha! Yes.. They do work good.. Less of a mess
Uberti is much nicer!
Pietta’s are beater guns…
I have experienced that as well. I have both brands
I've found that experienced shooters say get a Pietta. They're just solid shooters. I notice alot of people, especially newer bp shooters, or wall hangers that shoot BP twice a year get dazzled by Uberti having a better fit and finish. Uberti are known for cheaper/softer internal components and short arbor issues. Theyre not aloutright better.
