You might say that all the band wrote the letter but it wasn't. Tuomas wrote it and then Marco, Jukka & Emppu signed down there. Last month I met Tarja and she is a wonderful person. Always smiling and trying to make you feel comfortable. Her husband too.

The Ankh some of her solo songs are really great..but..she and the band were having perfect chemistry..but in the way things happend...i olnly listen old nightwish and some of tarja's solo songs

how could any band of sound mind ever let such a miracle as Tarja go, She is arguably the greatest femal vocalist of recorded history. i mean who can say that nightwish's guitar or keyboard player are even semi-proficient, they are good musicians at best, more likey merely o.k. and now with Tarja gone it really shows. what were they thinking. but Tarja can never be anything less, as for the relic that became of nightwish, you cant polish a turd, they should count their blessings.

Its a shame when a good band breaks up. Many people say that Nightwish is nothing without Tarja, which is a bit harsh id say. The other way around, i must admit I don't find Tarja's solo music anywhere near what it was with Nightwish. The combination of vocal, lyrics and heavy metal in Nightwish was unmatched. I now follow neither Tarja nor Nightwish, apart from checking up on both parts now and then. I firmly feel that neither will ever reach anywher near what they where together.

I'd say he's exactly right and both of those meanings are applicable to the modern neo-nightwish we see today. First of all, they can't seem to decide what direction they wish to go in. First they hired a pop style vocalist to replace her. Then they replaced her with a more rock/metal style singer. Then with this new more rock/metal style singer they release a weak album (EFMB) with songs that sound more folk style than metal. Then when they go on tour for that album they start bringing back and incorporating many of their older songs in that tour, but not in their original form, but instead in many cases dumbed down from the original. In other instances they've incorporated new elements into the old songs that simply don't fit and sound out of place, like Troy's flute in their "new" version of Nemo. Really, it sounds like tuomas just want to give Troy a part to play in that song and didn't care at all whether it fit with the song or not. So, that pretty much covers number 1. They have no clear musical direction like the original nightwish did. as for number 2, Tarja wasn't just the face and voice of the band.tuomas ,himself admitted on the End of Innocence DVD that Tarja, her voice, and her style were the inspiration for the entire concept of nightwish. The original plan was not even metal, it was just a project to record some folk music. It was only after he heard Tarja's vocals and how well she had developed it, that he came to that inspiration. Tarja truly was the soul of nightwish. She was the one who brought the music to life with the emotion she rendered into it, none of the other vocalist have been able to do so quite the same as she did. They've definitely lost something that was magical. Music must be brought to life. Otherwise, it's just notes on a piece of paper. Sure tuomas writes the music. However, he lacks the ability to bring his music to life. he lacks the ability to give it emotion and to effectively convey that emotion to an audience. That is a a special skill that only a few people have and some do it better than others. Tarja has the skill and she has it far and away better than any of the other vocalists. it isn't just her incredible vocal superiority that does this. It's everything about her. it's her style and grace. it's her elegance. It's how in a single moment the expression on her face can show you exactly her true and honest emotion and make you fell it exactly as she does. It's all these things and everything at the same time. Tarja is the total package. She's not just a cute pop singer. She's not just a rock singer who can yell really loud. She's the real deal honest and genuine and when you watch and listen to her, you know it deep down inside!
Why good bye? She's doing just fine alone. Actually I like her even more now. I think she can express herself way better now than she did in Nightwish period. Good luck, Tarja and thank God for your voice!
Ugh~ Nightwish without Tarja, someone please pinch me and tell me this is just a long nightmare. I didn't grow up just to find a world like this. I wanted to have years and years of quality Nightwish music~ and now it's gone, fucking~ gone. If I was Anette, honestly, out of respect for the fans I'd walk away and form a new band~ because it's a travesty what the band has become. They should change their name and end the chapter instead of soiling it.
The Greatest loss was for the fans and for Nightwish. Their vocals now are sad, compared to the beauty amd mastery Tarja brought to the band.
