You are so right with the comment regarding a bad flight attendant. It appears American employees several of these mean old angry flight attendants. And these appear to be more senior and on the overseas flight. I had one on a flight from Rome to Dallas, who ignored that I was in a medical situation.
Wow thats crazy. AA needs to do better.
Great review! I love American as a whole - I have had great experiences, but you nailed it with the flight attendants. Some provide a level of service that is just amazing, while others leave you wondering if they even know how to smile/be polite. You did a great product review with this video, thanks!

American will probably always be my main carrier. I’ve been flying them for over 20 years now and I’m a big AA fan boy lol. AAdvantage is still the best frequent flyer program in the US in my eyes which also keeps me loyaal to AA. I also really like what they have done with the airport lounges.
I have taken a few trips on Delta recently and I was blown away by their friendly FA’s. Could have just been lucky though.
Thanks for your very detailed and informative video. I don’t mind this type of seats. TBH I quite like the rear facing set-up, the peculiar sensation associated with takeoff or landing is interesting. Will fly AA’s old 788 before Christmas from DFW to MIA, I can’t wait.

Good food and onboard bar service is something domestic carriers got away from. Its nice to see it sort of coming back, of course Covid will present a challenge in it continuing to improve.
Agreed but it’s hard for them to make money with how the average American buys their tickets. Not to mention they are publicly traded companies and have shareholders to deal with if their revenue isn’t up to par. I honestly also believe that having three huge carriers is too much I think we should probably only have two.
I do think though over the last eight years the US BigThree have really stepped up their offerings. In my opinion they are on par or are really close with every other foreign airline that’s not government owned and operated.
Good I saw your video. AA changed our aircraft from B737 to B787-8. It's just under 3hrs flight to DFW. We took the window seat 3 and 5. I will just look out the window for Grand Canyon view or watch a movie. For our long flight it's B777-300ER so everybody will be facing forward. Either you sit in economy but if the crew is very good and attentive, giving you snacks and drinks, trust me you will forget about how cramped it is.Happy travels.

Tbh, I’m more of a Delta fan since I live in Minneapolis but, if American is cheaper to fly out of here in first class (which they usually are from time to time) I’ll fly them more often😊
Delta is a really good airline. I cheat on AA a lot with Delta. Lol. I have a economy review with delta coming up soon. It was LAX-CDG with their new service on a 777-200ER.

Attendant not being responsive or cordial that really is a huge problem especially in a business class cabin.I agree some of the staff need to be retrained in delivering a quality product.

AA, and also other US airlines really need to improve FA quality Some of them don't really enjoy their job. I'm glad that the other FA was friendly attentive Food on this flight was good, much better than what I expected from a US carrier.
Agreed, not sure what can be done though. It unfortunately seems to be a growing sentiment in the US.

Perhaps she was, if so her delivery needs some practice. We all have bad days and its still the only time this has happened to me on AA so I'm going to chalk this up as a one off experience.

Yeah that is wild. For the cost of J class travel wifi should and needs to be included.
I was thinking of choosing a rear facing seat for my next trip…I just wanted to see if there was a different sensation with landing and taking off..lol! Welp! I chose 3A instead..lol!
It was pretty cool sitting backwards during takeoff and landing. The view was a bit better.
Also, while eating meals I had a perfect view of the wing and engine. I can’t think of a better ambience for an aviation enthusiast. Anyways I hope you enjoy your flight. Thanks for watching & leaving a comment.
Take a triple 777 business than this older 787-800 or wait until they do the diamond seating.
Great review! That banana pudding looked awesome, and the bathroom did look really cool. The seating layout would really bother me, how you were facing that middle passenger directly. All of the food looked pretty good!

The one plus to that seat sitting backwards is how close it puts you to the window. Makes it really easy to record. A lot these business class seat usually put you a bit far from the window.
Finally got this story line to London. Now it’s time to work on my British Airways Galleries Lounge Review/Tour.
AA is gonna fix the seats so they will soon be more sturdy

Personally I am going on a trip to Paris and on the way back I am taking 787 8 to Dallas from Paris 11 hrs!!
So I went on this vid it may not be Paris to Dallas but it’s the same airline and class but am I on first class you may ask?

No worries, I enjoy helping people out with this sort of thing.
I believe row 5 is the last row in the cabin and it shouldn’t be connected to row 4. Seat 5H (the middle seat next to 5L) is rear facing but it shouldn’t be an issue with 5L. I’ve had a few people I’ve known tell me they have really enjoyed the seat you are asking about (5L)

I generally agree with that but Delta is really growing on me.
Is there no privacy for all the seats or are there one or two facing away that do have it?
The privacy issue is on the aisle’s that have backwards facing seats. Hope this helps.

Did you connect from the 11:40 flight from LA? I’m doing these exact same flight if so. Great video with the commentary and the short takeoff roll!
Last summer it was sold as the 12:24am Lax departure but pretty much the same thing. We cut it close because the LAX to ORD flight had a go around which cost us around 40 minutes. But I wanted to check out the ORD Flagship Lounge lol. It was worth it. Great views and food. Only had about 15 minutes inside the lounge though.

In November I’m doing the same thing. A321 to ORD then a retrofitted 787 with the b&e aerospace diamond.

Lol that’s right. It’s just soo awkward when you make eye contact with the person in the center seat. Had a lot of that on this flight lol. She was cool and we kept laughing when it happened lol
I just learned that the 787-8 I am going on is not getting the b&e aerospace retrofit.😰😢
Why do airlines persist with these horrendious and non profitable backwards facing seats?
No clue. It was cool to have sat in one but I’m not really a fan. I’m glad AA stoped using this seat for retrofits and for new wide body aircraft coming into the fleet.
What seat was the woman with the hat sitting in? I might like that seat better.

Kenneth Byrd lol my bad. She’s in 3 L which is a forward facing window seat.
Hate this seat arrangement. Most uncomfortable and no privacy. All the time the person in the middle row is so exposed to my sight. Hate it! No storage on side armrest. FA in first class acted more like a diner server.
Plastic glasses on welcome drinks….cheap concentrate oj if you don’t want the bubbly. Just cheap for the price that they charge!
There’s so much AA flight attendants that are so grumpy. They need to learn how Cathay, JAL, Emirates FA do their jobs. Why employ the senior grumpy on AA international flights that hates to work and be nice?
Completely agree on everything. The reverse herringbone they have on the 77W and the super Diamond they have on some 77E’s are my favorite AA business seats.
That’s the hard part with US airlines. They have shareholders to please unlike the other high end airlines so they cannot go over the top. Then there is the Unions which total handcuffs the airlines. It’s just a hot mess in the states lol. I will say BA is similar in products to AA but there service is a lot better. It’s probably just cranky American FA’s who hate their job lol
All in all it’s still much better than flying coach and is about the same for Delta & United.

So a LOT of talk about how BAD the seats are and yet all you said was how well you slept and the fact that somebody wouldn't give you more bubbly. And then you say the other seat is "so much better" but you give no details as to what makes them "so much better." "She really cared about her job" because she gave you some bubbly...right.
I was connecting from a red eye from Lax that left at 1am after working all day, then had a 25 minute connection on to LHR. Hence why I still slept good in a seat that I don’t prefer or view as comfortable. I also went over the details of the difference.
As for the champagne it’s not that she wouldn’t give me more. She flat out lied and said they didn’t have any more when they did. Big difference. She clearly wasn’t willing to provide a service that I paid AA for and wanted to just hangout in the galley. Luckily the purser was willing to step up and take over. She was awesome.
