I love this beautiful song💃🏻💃🏻. Cape Breton is the most beautiful place of all. I'm a BC girl that met my hubby that was born in Nerls Harbor & moved to BC. We went to CB twice & I fell in love with the beauty & wonderful people. Hope to be there this summer. I would move there in a heart beat lol. Maybe someday💖
My god...reconsider....I was born in, and have lived in Cape Breton most of my life. It is a beautiful place, don't get me wrong, and I'm proud as a pig in shit to be from here, but the point being, there is nothing here for ya my dear. The economy is horrid, the price of rent would literally knock your socks off... I've lived here nearly all my life, except when I'd leave for jobs or to pursue "love", and this is the worst I can remember it ever being around here. I'm actually on here right now finding tunes to listen to as I do a research paper on the housing crisis, and the affordable living crisis in Cape Breton...don't let old songs fool ya, great tune, but ya might find yerself on the wrong end of a welfare check if ya move here darlin. Take care!
We are an island, a rock in the stream We are a people as proud as there's been In soft summer rays or wild winter wind The home of our hearts Cape Breton.
You can get this and other great CB songs on a collection called "The Sounds of Nova Scotia 2". The name is a trick since the songs are about CB. They used to sell this at tourist centers and shop on CB. You can't buy a CD anymore but it's on iTunes Music. Worth the $10
My grandfather came from Cape Breton to America in 1930 with 200 very hard saved dollars, a full set of carpenter tools and building knowledge, and ready to work wherever and whenever he was wanted or needed. He built many houses and buildings in the area's around North Smithfield, Woonsocket, Smithfield, and other boroughs in upper Rhode Island. He was a talented builder; boats, furniture, houses, Wells, docks, etc. A tough Canuck, loved his kids and grandkids. Did a perfect Stu Hart impression(for those fans of wrestling). He always said he wanted to be brought home when he passed. His ashes were divided, and a portion was spread near his original home.
I know im 4 years later to this, but as a Caper myself I can say your Grandfather showed the States just how hard we work. Never met your Grandfather, but my hats off to the man. Respect.
Excellent Anthem! I don't think that any other District could be so Self proclaimed now-a-days! PEI & NFLD; created their own independence, a long time ago! We should have done it long ago, too!
We have a definite identity! Isn't it time for us to consider becoming our own Province? Our Forefathers suggested it years ago! We all know that Halifax ( like 200 years ago ) was favoured! It still is!! We supported the buggers with coal in the past & now electricity. Yet; we still pay the second most in Electric, in Canada? WTF!
Exactly! Also, we were annexed back by the British because they didn't want to make another legislation! We were annexed illegally to the mainland of NS! And the mainland responded by naming our second largest lake on the island after the main man behind it! We should be a province/territory!
I was disappointed but not surprised when Greggs didn't show up.
same
Needs more Greggs selling very common pasties and sausage rolls!
Rare has a song made me feel proud and teary eyed for a place I’ve never been to.
