Fishing and camping in the Partry Mountains, Co. Mayo
Tent Notes - Was on the look out for a free standing, outer pitch first tent, that was around the 1.3kg and below mark. The main feature I was looking for was 2 doors though, as I've been on hills many times with views in ethere direction, wondering which way to pitch the tent and end up sacrificing one of the views. Not anymore.
This is my 4th time out with the Mirage and so far so good. Material seems good, Stable in wind, easy/quick setup, stealth mode colour, large inner (I'm 6ft and have lots of space all around me) and very light weight. I have it at 1.390kg on my scales, that's with everything, including the big sky foot print (footprint is needed as the tent floor is thin), two extra guylines and two extra pegs.
It's a hybrid tent, so two of the walls front and back are single skin, and the sides are mesh.
It's definately a three season tent. Time will tell how robust it is and I still have to give it a proper rain test.
Those big coums in the Partry's are stunning, as was the clarity of the water in the lough👍 It is that peaceful looking that I could imagine standing there fishing for a solid week - if someone was bringing you food and water. The fish are stunning looking too. A cool looking camp high up with some protection and that glorious view over the lough👍 Always good to have a handy source of fresh water for the all important hot food and drinks. Having nothing to do but pass the time when camping is such a contrast to the hurried way of life many of us tend to led these days. Loved the sundew. Hopefully that breeze was enough to keep the 🦟 at bay.
@@gerrymcveigh Alright Gerry. Yeah, midges weren't a problem that trip thankfully. Yeah, partrys have got a good few streams running of them, loads of water sources, prob doesn't help the midge up there though. Good spot for a fish and camp Cheers Gerry
