I bought a Chibson back in 2015 out of curiosity. I own several real Les Paul’s. I did the typical upgrades, changed the tuners, bridge, tail piece, put Seymour Duncan pick ups in it. The pick ups that came in it said Epiphone on them. Couple of frets needed filing and crowning. The thing plays awesome. I had it in storage for several years. Pulled it out and it was still in tune! I love it.
I got a Chibson Greeny this past year & also bought the $1500 Epiphone Greeny, & honestly, I like my $239 Chibson better. It’s reliced pretty heavy, but does not have any check marks. The finish is also nitro. The neck & back/sides are more red, & it has very well done fret nibs. Like yours, the routing & the binding is super neat & clean. The color of the binding is very close to real Gibson binding, having that slight pinkish/orangish hue in the cream. The neck is super thin, unlike my Epiphone Greeny. It’s fairly light, maybe 7 lbs, compared to the heavy 9-10 lbs Epiphone Greeny. I changed the tuners, pickups, caps, pots & knobs. I added knob pointers & a real Gibson trussrod cover. The nut, switch, bridge, tailpiece & jack were fine, so I left them. It needed really no fretwork. Now it smokes, is a serious player, & is my go to. My Epiphone Greeny hangs on my wall lol
The reason why Greeny sounded the way it did is because he had it repaired back in the day and instead of wiring it parallel like Gibson does,he wired it (by mistake) series.
It was still in parallel, the magnet in one pu was flipped making them electrically out of phase. It had nothing to do with the pu being turned around. That will sound slightly different but does not put them out of phase. With the old braided wire to put them in series requires extensive re wiring and the braided shield on one pu has to be used as the "hot" wire.

Microphonics are not the only characteristic original PAFs had. They also sounded nothing like modern humbuckers. A "period" Les Paul would essentially sound like a beefier Telecaster and many tele players like Jimmy Page started using them maybe for that reason.

lots of people are saying this
Screws for pu rings are way diff than what Gibson uses. Listen to the switch and look at it you can tell it's the wrong kind, bridge wrong pu rings wrong shape n color and most of all your buying stolen property. Why are so many ok with stealing?
I have advised them :)
the finish checking looks fake. I have no doubt that guitar is a ringer. the chinese never do a good job dressing their fret ends.
Did you watch the video? I played it and the frets are perfect dude.
@@DaveBarlowGuitar hI, i DID WATCH THE VIDEO AND i HAVE 3 CHINESE GUITARS AND HAD TO DO A LOT OF FRET WORK ON THEM. i'M SHURE THE GUITAR YOU GOT WAS PERFECT, BUT i THINK THEY DID EXTRA WORK ON THE SETUP BECAUSE YOU WHERE GOING TO REVIEW IT. i LOOKED AT THE FRET ENDS AND YOU CAN SEE THEY DID A LOT OF HAND FILING ..... I ENJOY YOUR SHOW
@@louiscesare504 WHY ALL THE CAPS? Makes you look like a douchebag.
I just got an Ace Frehely blue sparkle Chibson last week. The frets are perfect. They used ball end frets. It also has large pots in it.
I have bought a couple fenders they play good better than most of the American stuff until I got into my real custom shops. The tuners were cheap on the haggard copy but 50 dollars fixed that
Nothing against Chibson but that sounds terrible
Why are showing us the headstock it's not a " Gibson " it's a FAKE , FRAUD. If you want a good Chinese guitar buy a Eastman , to many Fakes being sold as the real thing .They are crap if you know anything about guitars .
Lmao, nice observation captain obvious
Eastman is making excellent guitars, with unbeatable build quality, however, they are not cheap.
@@ReyCarmesi666no I want the real deals buddy Epiphone or Gibson oh wait I do have them both..
Guy buys a Chibson, and acts all gate-keepy about who should or shouldn't own the real thing.🤣🤣🤣
pure garbage
fair enough
Cry about it
Yes I agree , USA Gibson's ARE pure garbage 👍
Never played one have you
I have this same guitar and after a fret level and polish it stands proudly next to my Gibson standard at 10% the cost. So yes there is a couple hours of luthier work involved so you can add another $100 to the price and you're still way under the cost of an authentic Gibson.
