    I have been watching your videos for several years now and that is the only time I've made a tip to help operate the loader. I worked at a sand and gravel company and probably 90% was handled with a loader stockpiling.

    Chris there is nothing wrong with moving your backhoe that way. My uncle started his business just like that, just had a goose neck with double axles. Thanks and be safe.

    • @macfarms

      310E is 14,840lbs with 4wd, cab, and extendahoe. trailer has to be close to 5000lbs, I have a 20x8 2 axle equipment trailer thats around 4,000lbs, so thinking a triple axle would be closer to 5 and I don't know how long his trailer is either.

    Letsdig, lemme ask you something. They rate those F350s at some rediculous 30k towing or whatever. I know they can pull it and stop it, but can they slow it? I used to live on an 18% grade mountain, and if I can't go down without using my brakes, I'm not going to take it down. Do you think one of these modern trucks has the engine braking to take it down such a hill? If not, I feel that the towing capacity is overrated and BS, and I'd feel more comfortable in an old truck with a detroit with a jake, even if it was rated for a lot less towing.

    • @Seveneleven44
      @Seveneleven44 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Metal Butcher we use 2011 and newer f250’s at our recycling business, and tow everyday. When you’re in tow haul mode every time you touch the brake it downshifts. My 2011 I had, I made it till April of 2013 before I had to replace the brakes. If you’ve got a CDL, then towing with a pickup shouldn’t be an issue.

    • @Seveneleven44
      @Seveneleven44 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You wouldn’t hop in a rig with a heavy load and not use or have trailer brakes, why would you do that in an 8500 # truck? The heaviest I ever was with my truck, I pulled a fucking massive boat to Canada for my grandfathers friend. Boat, trailer and truck weighed out at 24,000#. Pulled great, don’t believe what every idiot says about their diesel truck “oh it pulls it and you can’t even tell anything is back there...” yeah that’s not correct. I never felt the truck couldn’t handle stopping the boat, but I didn’t get crazy and go over 70mph. Any heavier and I wouldn’t feel safe braking wise, and also weigh of the truck wise. I used to drive yard jockey, and the feel of that was similar to towing a huge load with a pickup truck. Yes it will do it, although not efficiently and you definitely lose braking effort with more weight.

    • @macfarms
      @macfarms 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they base the rating more on stopping it or slowing it down rather than what it can up and pull. They do have exhaust brakes on them now, not as effective as a jake by any means but it does work very well.

    • @TheMetalButcher
      @TheMetalButcher 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the replies guys, but I'm not really concerned about the brakes. Assuming an infinitely long downhill, you're not going to want to be riding the brakes. You want to be able to engine break. I certainly wouldn't go pull any load without trailer brakes, but I don't believe in depending on brakes for holding speed. Brakes are for slowing and stopping, engines are for holding speed.

      @icex2010 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mac Farms I came down a 7% grade in a ram 3500 with exhaust brake on. Dropped it to 4th or 5th gear and it held at about 60. I was loaded with a 304ec2 excavator. Trailer and machine was about 11-12k
