Very very helpful video. Did I miss it though, how many coats of paint did you use on the leaves (they are beautiful by the way)? And did you put a few coats on the moons as well!
Thanks Donna! And no you didnt miss it, im sorry guys i honestly totally lost count. Its many many coats. Probably upwards of 4+ with the white, 2 with the black and maybe 3/4 in some areas with the metallic green.
Thank you. I experimented some with paint but did find if it’s too thick it bubbles. And my Hubs was not happy that I used our toaster oven to experiment. 🥹
Indeed. Always will if I'm teaching how to use a product. Unfortunately many people think they don't need too, and get shocked when things don't end up right.
😂😂😂😂 it cracks me up listening to them. I think the "pup" (shepski) is now trying to mimmick her sisters chihuahua noises. 😂😂😂 Do you have a light tracing pad at least?
@@MakenzieHallie no light tracing pad. It’s always been my intention to get a large one made for big projects but then I stopped doing Stainglass so I never went through with it. I just looked them up on Amazon and I only seen the small tracing pads tomorrow. I’m gonna ask the guys at work if they can make me one. do you happen to know what kind of lights I should put inside that are best for not burning out my cornea’s?
GREAT video. I learn something new every time I check in on your work. I'm an older guy, beginning SG now, so it's a pleasure you share your ideas. Thanks. Looks to be available at Hobby Lobby, Amazon, etc.
Girl, you just fixed my dilemma. I actually have a lot of this paint because I used it for wine glasses. Once cured it can even go on the dishwasher! YAH!🎉🌈😊
Unfortunately you cannot after the piece is already made, as the temp needed to cure the paint will melt/flatten/spill the solder. Beyond that, we don't want to heat up the piece (solder and foil) that has already been soldered. Then were getting into an area where I would question the structural integrity of the piece. No videos on painting eyes specifically as of right now.
Your videos are the best! Thank you for posting one tonight. Just out of curiosity, do you bake in your regular oven or do you have a smaller oven you dedicate to crafting?
Found this really helpful... bought the folkart paints as you mentioned and they work loads better than the ones i was using so thanks. Just one question, after oven baking do you still find the paints still can be scratched off or am I doing something wrong?
Thank you for this video!! 🩶🖤 I have been curious about adding another dimension to my stained glass but was really turned off by the expensive tiny pots of paint I have seen used else wear. I feel like I could totally afford to try this lol what would happen if you foiled after you painted and baked? I'm sure you have a good reason for foiling first. 😊🌚
I foil first to get the paint up close to the edge and no enamel under the foil. Also easier to do in ref to my steps in making all my stained glass and getting large batches done in a timely manner, makes sense for me to foil everything, bake while soldering others, finish those. Etc.
You should try the Deco art glass paint at Michael's. I can do multiple layers of different colors in under an hour and have no issues with bubbling in the oven. You could probably cut your painting time in half, if not more ❤
Hi Mackenzie Couldn't you just do the painting before you put foil on & can I ask you where you get yr moon charms & stars from ? Are they Silver & the jump rings I keep getting stuff that doesn't solder & that info would be helpful to me, I'm also in Australia so I'd have to get them online 😊 Thankyou
Yes and no, they can both be baked. Enamel from them is for glass, multi surface can be used on others. Just look for the glass on top and stick with that if your worried about remembering the right one. 🖤
Can you paint both sides of the glass so that the paint shows from inside the window and outside the window? Or would the paint melt off when flipping it over and baking the back side?
You know id say absolutely could paint both sides, but i never have myself. But i don't think it would be a problem. Either way I'll try it and report back!
Hi! I’ve been thinking about painting glass cups for a while and this was very helpful thank you! I do have a couple questions though, my mom is worried about it smelling when I put the paint in the oven, do you notice any odor while it’s baking? Also, do you use your regular oven that you also use for baking food or do you have a separate oven that you use? Thanks! I would be incredibly great full if you could respond to these questions :)
I always foil after baking because I've heard mixed things. I asked her the same question if she has had issues but no answer yet. I'm personally to scared to try after hearing others say it compromised the foil.

😂😂😂 omg. And totally. The bubbling/wrinkling that will happen just wrecks it.
Yes it was very annoying. Loved hearing Hydra playing with her siblings. 😊
So annoying and just plain frustrating the first time it happened to me. 😂
And me too, cracks me up listening to them. Lol!!
I love that you read through the directions on the paint.

Nice work Makenzie. Glad to see you up & running again.
Thank you Michael!! 🖤 🙏🏻
Omg! Totally needed a Makenzie video tonight!!! ♥️ Great info on the enamels- you always make things seem so much simpler! Ty! ♥️
🖤🙏🏻 Thank you. So glad you enjoyed tonights vid! 🙏🏻🖤
Great video!
I would love to see a tutorial on pressed flowers in stained glass.
I’m so glad your back, I love your videos and I have learned so much from watching them
Thank you Donna! Im so glad you enjoy my videos, i love making them for you guys. 🖤🖤🖤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I sooo want a light box
Omg, your pup grumbling in the background was too funny. Sounded like he was trying to say something 😂

😂😂😂 well i just used simple magnetic light bars on the one i built. But i imagine led strips or standard bulbs would be great!

Ayyy ay ay happy to help!! 🎉🎉🖤🖤
Amazing video and very informative, helped me so much. I was wondering if i could use a regular oven to cure it or should i use a specific oven?
Well. I just use my regular oven. Lol. Should I for safety though? Probably not.
Thanks, really helpful.
Can u put that in the oven with the foil on the glass
Wow this is all new to me. Is there enamel paint to copper and then bake? Love this channel. Kathy from Cali. 😎
Hi Hallie
If I have already soldered my Piet can i still paint and bake?
Do you have any videos on painting eyes?

Question, why foil before applying paint.
Can you do a video making a stained glass sugar skull?
That is extremely specific. 😂 But i can absolutely put it on the list! 🖤
Is Folk Art Multi Surface as good for glass as Folk Art Enamel?

I have tried it/have some! It is not my personal favorite. ♡♡
@@MakenzieHallie that's fair! Your pieces are beautiful so you're obviously doing what works best for you 🖤
stunning glass and talking animals- just this channel 🌙

Yes good question
I Will try and experiment painting first as then the foil gleu Will not be effected by heat 👏👍👍👋☺️
Your bigger bottle was multisurface paint by FolkArt but the rest were enamels. Is there a difference?
Yes and no, they can both be baked. Enamel from them is for glass, multi surface can be used on others. Just look for the glass on top and stick with that if your worried about remembering the right one. 🖤
These pieces are for the car? And what are the pieces on the right?

Why would you foil before you bake? Potentially ruins the adhesive.
Considering how hot solder is, i would hope not! And dont want enamel under the foil. ♡
@@MakenzieHallie issue is how long it is heated. I was always told paint then foil. Glad it works for you.
Totally. As i always say, everyone does stained glass sooooo differently! Doesn't make it wrong if the end result is sound.
Can you link the paint?
Hot to work with came and lead
Would be great info.
So the heat of the oven doesn’t hurt the copper foil??
I always foil after baking because I've heard mixed things. I asked her the same question if she has had issues but no answer yet. I'm personally to scared to try after hearing others say it compromised the foil.
You guys use a normal regular oven right? Not a klin or something
She foils before painting to make sure there will be no paint under the foil. She paints close to the edge.
Can I just foil after baking?
Absolutely. That's what I do.
Link to paint?
lol your also watching hey babe while working on stained glass! Did we just become Bestfriend’s??
😂😂😂 Sal is my spirit animal. Yes we did.
Yippee
Ayyyyyy!! 🖤🖤🖤🎉🎉🎉
