Absolutely wonderful, we are so lucky to hear Yunchan’s beautiful interpretation of “The Emperor” I can’t believe my ears, STUNNING 🤩 As I mentioned before, whatever he touches turns to gold 😍
Yunchan's reading and interpretation of this wonderful concerto was previously established in Korea and made available by DGG. This recording shows his brilliant versatility in that he is definitely more in command of his role here than in the DGG RECORDING AND CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE ARCHIVISTS FOR RECOGNISING THAT. For instance, the third movement is subtler and more commanding than in the DGG recording. His performances of this brilliant Concerto are incomparable, (with numerous moments that are achingly beautiful) except only with his own different performances. HE IS THE EMPEROR'S MASTER. The Bach with Hess's chorale arrangement always sounds beautiful when he plays it as an encore .I feel that this recording demonstrates the best sound of a Steinway piano, and perhaps its outer limits. What can you come up with to improve that best for modern concert halls in future Steinway?
After🥲, my soul is renewed. The majesty and fresh nuances of #1, #3, and the beauty that reaches the depth of one's heart in #2...(the greatest I've ever heard!), all with Yunchan's one and only interpretation that only he can execute is almost incomprehensible to completely understand. Also, regards to the TPO and Maestro Pletnev for supporting Yunchan in a magnificently musical way.

Such glorious sound. As a string player, I know how we string players make different colors of sound by manipulating the vibrato and the bow speed and pressure. I am just amazed that same Steinway can sound differently at the hands of Yunchan.

임윤찬의 연주가 위대한건 긴 협주곡을 연주하면서도 한음 한음이 만들어내는 이음매가 너무 매끄럽고 걸림이 하나도 없다는 것이다. 그래서 유난히 오케스트라와의 조화도 그 어떤 연주자 보다도 자연스럽고 매끄럽다. 매끄러우면서도 영롱하고 강렬하고 한치의 오차도 없이 정확하다. 바느질의 신이 기워놓은 두루마기처럼 천의무봉(天衣無縫)한 연주. 서양인은 절대로 이해 못하는 고려청자 같은 연주
Superb!! I find it better than the original recording. To me Yunchan improved even more his great performance. Pletnev’s conducting was balanced and beautiful. That second movement, from the very beginning, melted my heart. When the conductor is also a great pianist things go always better. I guess his advices made Yunchan find the perfect way of playing the last movement. Tokio orquestra sounds fine. Thank you all.

Unfortunately I didn't like how Maestro Pletnev interpret the orchestra part, everything was to loud, seems as it is Symphony with the Piano concerto, but not Piano concerto with Symphony orchestra. Yunchan played amazingly beautiful, the sound so crystal clear, scales sound like pearl's beads!.❤
The orchestra is too loud That is nonsense. I could perceive every note, every nuance of Yunchan Lim's wonderful playing. This is a recording. The balance between orchestra and piano is in the hands of the sound engineer. Ultimately, the only way to judge if the balance is inappropriate or correct is to attend the performance in the concert hall (hopefully in a good listening position). This is Symphony with the Piano. That's right. The composer is Beethoven and not Chopin. And finally, personal preferences play a role that should not be underestimated. So, you are welcome to find the orchestra too loud.

No room for chauvinism in music, which knows no race, age, or language. Taking the same attitude as yours, I could easily argue those greats that you mentioned are merely the dead relics of yesterday nobody cares. Does it sound right?

Yunchan communicates with the piano and together they utilize the techniques which manifest inspiration.
Right?! Every voice is unique, it's crazy.
A very insightful comment, and very apt when one considers that Yunchan draws different voices from the instrument with each subsequent performance.
Yunchan doesn't just bang the keys - he communicates with them.

저도요 개인적인 느낌이라고 할 수도 있지만 광주시향과 했던 협연에서 임윤찬님의 피아노 소리가 더 좋네요. 더 자유분방하고 동화가 잘 되네요.
