I attended this recital live and remember how it sounded in Carnegie. This pirated recording, evidently made on a secreted, stowaway portable recorder (Nagra?) far inferior to such devices became only 10 years later, does no justice to Michelangeli's sound. The sound is muffled, distanced, and of palpably poor fidelity, especially compared to other private recordings made of ABM recitals from as far back as the 1950s.

BUT he repeats quite a few sections of Valses Nobles.......no authorization or marking by Ravel, he's the only one who does that.

Version autremeent plus satisfaisante que celle de Jarvi aux PROMs 2024.... Ici même dans les FORTEs le piano n´y est jamais englouti et l´Orchestre plus Homogène. Yunchan, pareil à lui-même éclouissant limpide et magistral quand il le faut..sa ligne mélodique est douce...et ne succombe pas aux témérités de Jarvi.

Good God... probably the best performances *ever* of the Chopin and Ravel, both pieces played by every serious pianist ever, and he did this LIVE IN THE SAME RECITAL??? Wow.

He just copies great MUSICIANS like Backhaus Gulda, Gould, Rubinstein, Horowitz, etc...... he has no own style at all......

Ich war ebenfalls an diesem Konzert... es hat meine musikalische Laufbahn grundlegend verändert.... Als damals Gitarrist an der Berufsschule für Jazz in Bern wechselte ich zum Klavier und begann neu mein Studium am Konservatorium in Bern... An dieses Konzert denke ich gerne zurück...

I was at this concert too on a school trip when I was thirteen. I also remember the loud noise backstage during Scarbo. Years later someone told me he was so angry that he unloaded a whole fire bucket of sand over someone. He also played Valses Nobles before Gaspard.

After🥲, my soul is renewed. The majesty and fresh nuances of #1, #3, and the beauty that reaches the depth of one's heart in #2...(the greatest I've ever heard!), all with Yunchan's one and only interpretation that only he can execute is almost incomprehensible to completely understand. Also, regards to the TPO and Maestro Pletnev for supporting Yunchan in a magnificently musical way.

Non conoscevo questa interpretazione è questo compositore. L audio non è perfetto, ma si avverte la purezza del suono del Genio Michelangeli.
