A playroom with a long workbench, room for each child to sit and do homework, drawing, projects, Legos on shelves above, anything creative is something I always wished I had done with my kids. If there is any room and the boys bedroom or in another room to do this they will feel ecstatic and a couple of shelves, one for finished projects and another to hold bins with creative materials is what I had envisioned. I recently saw this on scandish home on TH-cam.

Nice sweet kids❤️and parents! It's nice to be minimalistic but it is also very nice as an adult to have saved stuff from your childhood,to be able to look at them and remember.. I wish I would have saved all my toys from the 60-70s,I would put them up in my livingroom nicely and look at them and whenever I'd have friends over I'm sure they'd enjoy looking at them too and remember their toys. So don't throw away too much memories! Greetings from Scandinavia!

Proverbs 8:10-11 "Receive my instruction, and not silver,
And knowledge rather than choice gold; For wisdom is better than rubies,
And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her."
How wonderful that you're teaching your children to live that principle.

This was one of your best videos and “show and tell” of a lesson, and more than just a sentence or two. I love how even Silas and Noah are learning how to take apart and build things. You really find out how much “stuff” you have that is expendable when you move!

What a Sweet family. So much of what you do I'm now just learning at 58 years old..We were blessed with much over the years however many times all that we had felt like a weight, a chain keeping me from the freedom to live more. Slowly, God is helping me/us let go of things and embrace experiences instead. Our kids have an opportunity to do it differently.
You are both wise beyond your years.

A goal worth working toward indeed! Since starting to watch you guys I have become more and more convicted that I need to REALLY minimalise the STUFF in my house. I am in the process of sifting through what is important and what really just... isn't. And how MUCH of each is important. I have not been able to keep on top of my washing and been wondering why til I watched that vlog (ages ago) where you showed how little you guys actually had (and that was ok!!!) And it made me realise, true! Why does my 3 year old need like 20 pairs of pants???!!! (Or possibly more) so i am excited to say I have cut her drawes down really dramatically! Now for my other daughters, myself, and hopefully some day my husband will also be inspired to do the same! Totally agree with all you're saying! Thanks!

Loved this video! This has actually been weighing on my heart lately. My family (husband, 4 year old, and 3 year old) recently bought the biggest home we have ever lived in 1200 sq upstairs and 1200 sq ft basement. It's been quite a difference from our old house which was 860 sq ft. While we have enjoyed the extra room I have also felt that we have acquired a lot of things that aren't enriching our lives and actually causing stress! I just started this morning to clean things out and give them away. We like to donate to our local thrift shop which proceeds go directly to the community, especially homeless and the needy. Thank you for shooting this video, I really enjoyed watching it and it has inspired me to keep going and even include our 3 and 4 year old in the process! :-) May God shine blessings upon your family and also to any who is reading this now! Praise be to Yahweh!

I wonder how many others are left with a smile on their face like mine after they watch your videos. God has made you all a treasure to your family in Christ Jesus here on YT. The song came to my heart as I watched the boys show their new room..."Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days, all the days of my life.." Thank you for blessing and encouraging your brethren. Love in Christ from Sis' Maria in NC

I am loving the refreshing Christian content on your channel. Your sons resemble their mother so strongly. Minimalism is a fascinating topic. I am having a “NO BUY” year which doesn’t mean I don’t spend any money at all but it brings tremendous awareness of what you buy. I also raised 5 children and found that “keeping” items saved me massive amounts of money. I don’t advocate hoarding but for my children, and my own wardrobe, I found life to be less expensive if I treated our clothes with some respect and reuse them endlessly. Really saved me money. However clearly out the needless stuff is great. We also enjoyed clean bedrooms by having a dedicated toy room or area. Thank you!!

I recently moved abroad and had to let go of a lot of stuff, yet donating it was so rewarding. Minimalism for me is using every single thing I have on a regular basis.

So love keeping up with you and your new home. Your boys are such wonderful examples of your Godly parenting. Forrest is so sweet with his brothers.
I'm afraid I'm a clutterbug, and I have so much sorting out to do. With my health not being good for 2 years, I struggle to do much at all. I'm 57 and suffer serious daily pain. Please please pray for me, I want so much for the agonising pain to stop, so that I can sort out my house and more importantly, be of use to the Lord.
I also really wish I knew how to tie a headcovering, like Lindsay! You are so blessed to have her as your wife Brackin. May our Heavenly Father continue to bless you all!

This is such a challenge for many. We are wasteful and wanting for the most part. Things never give happiness. The old saying, "Do you have things? Or do your things have you?" is a question we must all ask ourselves. I love how the children were able to choose what was important to them without pressure. You are doing a great job with your little ones. I have gone to Haiti a few times and bubbles make them laugh and dance. Kids run and play with things they find in the garbage heap. Then, I come home to my nice home with soooooo much stuff, though I continue to purge. Bless you all for your love of the Lord and desires to follow Him and not another.

You are absolutely right with the saying that we should help those who need the things that we don't actually need or use. I have been thinking of sorting out those things we don't need any more that are still in a good condition and could bless others. For instance, we are a family of 4. Two kids aged 6 and almost 9 (a girl and a boy) and our kids, especially our daughter, have so many items of clothes that it is literally overwhelming for me to wash, hang out to dry and iron. She is in hospital now to have her tonsils removed (tomorrow - I hope it will go well) and I am going to use the time when she is not home to sort out those pieces of clothes that I think she does not need. I believe it will be a big bag of them. And I am going to donate the clothes to charity. It will be a big relief for me and a sort of help for someone else.

I admire what your doing and it reminds me of what a dear lady told me one day. She said “ I fear that my possessions are possessing me”. This Lady and her husband were servants their whole life as Missionaries and in many other levels of leadership. They were very financially well off and even with all the money they gave away to help others in need and further the gospel, build orphanages in other countries and too much to mention. Yet she still felt this way. In eternity they and we all will forever be rewarded for all sacrifices on earth. Lord sincerely bless you and yours.

During our two boys' teen years (for 8 years) we lived in Hawaii on a very limited budget. We only had what we could bring in our suitcases and what we could rummage from the campus "boutique" (which was a place where people leaving the campus would leave things they could not take with them, and which could be had for free, like old clothes, desk lamps, etc.). Basically the only things they bought were skateboards and related items like skate shoes or trendy t-shirts, with money the boys earned themselves. Still, when in Hawaii, you spend most of your time outside, so at home you don't need much more than a bed! Now the boys are married and are very good at managing their finances and budgets.

We are hoping to go on the road with our music soon so have felt the Lord has wanted us to downsize to prepare. My goodness, I love this! I dealt with severe depression in the recent past and to help cope I would scavenge yard sales and thrift stores for "stuff". The fantastic deals I found gave me temporary happiness but it left me with waaaaaaayyyyy too much. After beginning to recover and growing even closer to Jesus I've begun purging "stuff" because I felt suffocated. I've delivered dozens of trunkloads to various charities and I still have alot! Some days it's overwhelming but this vlog is def encouraging! Thank you!

You guys are great! Good content . We have 10 in our family and I'm always decluttering and minimalism looks alot different in a family of 2 compared to large families with kids. But our goal is what's important, keeping our eyes on christ. Love that you brought this back to the reason behind it.

Love this video!!! Great advice! What a blessing you all have been to our family! ❤️ And my boys love watching your boys! Looking forward to the next!
**To Lindsay: I would love a vlog from you soon! Could you share some of your wisdom on being a homemaker? Whether it's being a help meet, homeschooling/Unschooling, raising boys, cooking, cleaning etc. We'd love to hear fron you!
Also, if possible, We'd love wisdom and advice from Brackin about work trade! We're ready to spend more time together as a family and less time working away from home and from the children. We're currently learning all we can (gardening/gleaning, sewing, building etc.) so that we won't need the money for these things. However we need more ideas of what we can to earn a little money for other things (utilities, some car repairs etc.) Any advice would be greatly appreciated! God Bless you all!!!!!! So sorry for the long comment and we hope this message makes it to you!! 😬☺️

I never thought of kids “moving” like whole house family moving. But it’s right- opportunity to thin out. Great 👍🏽

I remember a Pastor saying, "The more you own, the more owns you." I want to be a good steward of what I have. I find myself asking... Could someone benefit more from my extra things? Your boys are precious! Good job mom and dad!

This has so much truth to it! I have found over the last few months that I kept things in order to continue to not face my inner "stuff". It distracted me and I'm slowly getting rid of excess. If I'm decluttering my home I'm bound to begin to declutter my mind. It's working fairly well thus far.

I love the quote "live simply so others may simply live" I am personally far from a minimalist but I do not have the newest & best, latest gadgets. I recently HAD to upgrade my flip phone to a smart one only because the old one was no longer supported. Are you familiar with Facebook's Buy Nothing Groups. I find it is a wonderful way for my to share my abundance with my neighbors. As an avid nature lover, it warms my heart to see that the boys have their own binoculars.
