  • Snowboarding empty lines at Japans most Famous SNOW MONSTERS in Zao Onsen. We drove over 1500km for THIS!! Finally made it to ZAO ONSEN after a crazy snow storm and was absolutely blessed by the weather Gods. Bluebird and fresh lines all day.
    Getting to really test our new Powder Snowboards and the best is we pretty much had this whole mountain to ourselves....
    I Bought a used HiAce 200 DX 4WD Diesel and converted it to a Snowboard Camper ready to explore around Japan. Exploring the SURF and SNOW culture here.
    I am trying to improve my language skills by making some of these videos in Japanese as a form of studying. Hopefully my Japanese will keep progressing but for now its pretty basic.

      Ah cheers man 🤙 yeh Zao is awesome! Sure you will have a blast. Although December time you probably won’t see the snow monsters like that as that’s normally mid January to February when it’s collected a lot of snow.
      Regardless Zao is an awesome resort and mountain. Super long wide runs which is rare in Japan

    Hey there. I’m going there in mid-February. I’ve heard that you’re actually not allowed to head off-piste into the snow monsters, but obviously this isn’t really enforced. Did you find yourself having to avoid ski patrol, and waiting for them to pass before going in?

      Ah mid Feb is a great time to go as snow monsters normally at their biggest.
      Yeh not sure about that rule? There are areas fenced off for sure but there is a whole backcountry area that you can tour.

    Where were you before going to Zao? is it really that dangerous on the roads with heavy snow?

    • @mountainswell
      @mountainswell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If i remember i think we was traveling from Nagano area to Zao? I live and work in my van all winter and the snowy roads doesnt bother me. But can be very dangerous at times

      @@mountainswell thanks! im convincing my father to go to Zao from Tokyo, but he said the roads are dangerous during winter 😅

    • @mountainswell
      @mountainswell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@kenoikawa9204 ah yeh from Tokyo it’s very easy drive. I drove the mountain pass road from Nigata which is more difficult. You need to have studless tyres to drive in snow so I recommend them 😊
