Although it may not be able to compete with the ski resorts in Hokkaido and Nagano Prefecture, I would like you to come and see Snow Monsters of Mt.Zao in Yamagata Prefecture next time.
Cool rundown and having been to Breckenridge (a long time ago), loved that reference. We are also booked in at Echoland and so I look forward to checking out the foodtruck scene. I am going to go back in the video -- One of your earlier Ramen shops I think was apres ski at Happo One? Great info and solid video. Peter
Thank you for making this video! We're going to Japan to ski in Jan 25 and as Aussies who've never been to the snow, and are honestly very clueless as to where to start planning, this was very helpful. Thank you 😊
I cannot recommend Shiga Kogen as a better alternative to Hakuba enough. It is also a Nagano ski area, but is larger, and almost entirely connected. You can spend the day skiing from one end of the valley to the other without ever having to take a shuttle. There is a beautiful onsen town in the valley below, and a wide selection of hotels at the top, bottom, and even middle of the ski runs in the mountains themselves. There is also a very famous national park between the town and the resorts, which is a hot springs for monkeys that you can visit.
Happo One is pronounced Happo " Oh Neh" (not the number one) Just an FYI I'm Japanese American and also used to say Happo One until someone there told me One was "Oh Neh" lol

Now you are a bourgeoisie in Japan. You should know your enjoyment is over the sacrifice of Japanese patience.
