There's recently been some people calling out McAfee's behavior and saying he isn't a good fit for ESPN, but hearing him lay his balls on the table and tell the NCAA to screw themselves is exactly why I'm glad he's on a cable network.
It’s PRECISELY why everyone likes him! It’s about time ESPN has someone that I actually want to watch and it’s because he’s saying what we’re all thinking. Every network should learn from this, people are tired of listening to bootlicking puppets.
He’s just genuine. Not always right (he obviously is here) but speaks his mind. Most people anchoring for ESPN care more about the network than their own views. Networks need this man far more than he needs them
@theswitch1028 Yeah he very much seems like a regular dude. That's what I like about him so much. Doesn't pull punches, shoots straight with people. I hate sports media except for a couple channels I've found on youtube. ESPN is unwatchable

We so badly need people that don't cower like wimps to the big wigs in the ivory tower. Somebody should tell em' to go stick it and stop being afraid. It takes courage for a celebrity not to get caught up in the schemes and lose their sense of reality. I pray Pat never does.

I don't really watch college sports, but I've heard about them before because of how they refused let College athletes make any money, while everyone else involved is taking in millions.
And then there was the shifting they have Leah Thomas.
And now this.
Wonder what would happen if the college athletes (because the schools are pretty of the scam) just refused to show up for the events?
NCAA needs to figure it out, or someone's going to make a new regulating body to overlook college athletics eventually

ESPN didn’t hire him to be watered down. Just tone down the cussing to make advertisers happy.

The fact he did this on ESPN live day time programming is actually incredible. In wrestling terms he prob got some heat from both ESPN honchos (who I'm sure if they are watching their wallets are okay, and the old ass fogey fans who don't want him on gameday). It happened to the Sun Belt before when Georgia Southern won 9 games each of their first two years and App State went 11-2 their second season in the FBS. JMU's early success isn't unprecedented and the NCAA loves their rules.
It shouldn't have happened it is an arbitrary rule. The conference itself says it's okay. Just a bunch of nonsense tbh.

The NCAA is passed needing to be disbanded, and replaced with all student representation. They have never been about the students and always been about a stuffing as much money in their own pockets as they can on the backs of all those hard-working student need to boycott them and throw their asses out and establish a new student governing body

The fact that they are playing a team that did wait out the 2 year rule (App State) and they think they are the exception to the rule. At the end of the season change the rule for the future. You don't make a mid season rule change to make some garbage school happy.

JMU is probably going to be the first alternate for filling bowl slots if not enough teams get 6 wins.
My understanding is no matter how much bowls don't have 6-6 or better teams, JMU still won't get a bowl. They will go to the 5-7 teams and pick them. I can understand not allowing teams to play down and immediately qualify but playing up and not qualifying, that makes less than no sense, especially in a bowl situation
CBS' article on the situation said JMU can make a bowl game if less than 82 teams have 6 wins, I don't thing they can play in the cfb playoffs though. There are only 58/82 teams eligible so far.@@billw5823

They aren't outright banned from bowl games. It seems to work in a tiered priority system. Tier 1 teams are teams with .500 or better, they will get bowl games first. Tier 2 being everyone else. So JMU isn't eligible for tier 1 but is clearly the leader in tier 2. JMU is also not allowed to play in their conference championship even though they should have been in it last year and this year. I completely agree that these are stupid rules that need changed.@@Rowsy91
The NCAA is in a changing landscape NIL and Bowl games are based on good traveling teams not involved in the Championship games. Probably scared half the stadium will be empty with James Madison fans.
Doesnt matter, though. That's a problem they would need to solve once it happened.

Can we admit most of these bowl games are jokes and only exist so ESPN can put something on TV for the next two weeks. No one goes to these things and this year they even moved the Bahamas bowl to North Carolina. A lot of teams are playing in their home stadiums.

Not only did Reggie lose his heisman, USC lost a National title from the record books during a 33 game win streak. Pete Carroll? Bailed to Seattle for a Super Bowl with NO repercussions. SC also was handed scholarship sanctions and bowl sanctions that have made the University completely different than during those dynasty years. This is why people cant hate Pat. He truly tries to do and say whats right. This is an authentic sports show. And Pat McAfee isnt scared to be honest. He doesn't tow lines very well.
The bottom line is the rule needs to modified asap and the current rule needs to be applied correctly. When a waiver is filed the NCAA should have to at minimum provide a reason applicable to the applicant university why it was rejected. Also, the amount of national attention JMU is getting over this far exceeds any from Bowl games that SBC teams usually are involved in.

We are on pace to have some 5-7 teams making Bowl games so how about we get rid of the stupid transfer rule moving up divisions. We got rid of the one year wait time for athletes transferring why not programs. It was dumb when Appalachian state moved up and it was stupid when Bellarmine won their conference championship in basketball and was allowed to have that automatic bid to the tourney and was given to jacksonville state instead not even the team they beat in the championship game.

Huge game w/ App State and a win will continue the roasting of the NCAA. College Game Day at the campus Saturday. ESPN takin it to the NCAA two days in a row along with the student body!
