- After a lengthy weather delay and a comeback, Virginia lost a heartbreaker to James Madison at home, 36-35. Cavaliers QB Anthony Colandrea looked strong in his Scott Stadium debut, throwing for 377 yards on 20 of 26 passing and 2 touchdowns, both of which went to Mike Hollins. Malik Washington carried the ball 5 times for 119 yards in the loss.

James Madison is living up to that pre-season #1 ranking. This proves all their national championships are well-deserved and congrats to Virginia for scheduling such a historic world-beater like JMU. Most little schools like Virginia would shy away and schedule cream-puffs. There were great runs-after-catch on both sides and amazing demonstrations of refusal-to-tackle - Virginia proved to be better at that, and refusal to cover wide open receivers near the goal line. That's a lot of great coaching, there.
They didn’t schedule us for 40 years, and they won’t for another 40 now.

Was at the game, JMU fans while much fewer than UVA fans were much louder. And after the rain delay the stadium was 90% empty but lots of the JMU fans stuck around.

I’m loving JMU’s defense they get after it every play it’s fun to watch, obviously the deep passes and long runs are to but when the defense is getting sacks like that and really applying pressure on the other QB it’s very entertaining
I was at the game. Some UVA fans were terribly rude to JMU fans (living up to their stuck up reputation). The vast majority of JMU fans stuck around after the 80 minute rain delay, while the vast majority of UVA fans (especially their student fans) left the game when the rains came. JMU fans were so much louder and more enthusiastic than UVA fans. JMU came out after the delay wanting to win this. UVA came out trying not to lose it. There was also a fumble by UVA that even the announcers were stunned when the refs let UVA keep possession. The game shouldn't have been that close. JMU overcame the refs, one terrible coaching decision, and took this win. They are currently the best football program in the state, and it shows.

For the long-term success of the program, this might’ve been a win. And the William and Mary game is a chance to guarantee he is gone. Some good playmakers though

This was a Bad loss for UVA but a Quality win for JMU!
JMU was favored by 6 points before the game, if UVA won it would’ve been a bad loss for JMU lol
That being said UVA is excellent at managing to find the most painful ways to lose possible, so I agree this is a “bad loss” in the sense they blew a 12-point 4Q lead

Elliott is the sole reason UVA is terrible. We need a better coach. His coaching is not up to D1 level.
Not the sole reason imo, we lost a TON of key players after last year (if we still had Fentrell Cypress, Nick Jackson, and Billy Kemp we would’ve won at least 2 of our first 4 games) and in particular our OLine and Secondary are horrendous. Colandrea will probably be good in the future but isn’t quite there yet. Playcalling is an issue, but imo the OC deserves as much blame as Elliott there, if not more.

Losing to jmu is a complete and utter disgrace, its bags over the head time UVA fans! Smart leaders recognize early on when they've made a mistake, and they fix it asap. Lets wait and see what Carla Williams does, because as much as I respect Tony Elliot, its VERY apparent at this point that he's not the guy to lead this program back to prominence in the ACC.
