You got it right in my book. Keeping the client wood dry is essential and taking care of thr stacks is good to do too. Always adjusting for best outcome!!! Heck im doing that now as i was fillin up my racks for our burning!! Have a great day too Jack, you rock and congrats on 2k!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🦅🇺🇸
Nice job fixing the racks for another year's use! I've been using IBC totes and pallets for firewood storage and easy measurements. I use an IBC 2 pallets the 48 inch long then another IBC tote, then pallets and so on. I only stack 2 facecord rows on the pallets with a gap in between. 3 rows with the pallets like you do, sometimes the rows hang off a little, and I will catch them with the mower, sucks! My way is no better than anyone else's way. It just works the best for me. IBC totes are cheap in my area but may not be in your area. Keep trucking along, and the wife is always right! 👍🤣
I have a spot where I can get really cheap IBC totes but its over an hour away from me, and until I get a tractor or something of my own, I've kinda just steered clear of them. I do see myself getting into more of them as I move forward though. I too agree, no way is the best way. The best way is what ever works for our own specific needs... wife is definitely always right.🤣🤣 Thanks, have a great weekend ✌️
Great video, Jack! I stack personal burning wood and fire pit wood on pallets. Mini splits and smoker splits/chunks get stacked into milk crates and placed on pallets with plastic over the top to keep that stuff completely dry. Wet wood 🪵 is not good when you are trying to smoke food and cook pizza 🍕…!!!
Jack you keep things looking nice around your yard . I went with ibc totes , then they got expensive & take up alot of room when empty so i tried the bags . Now im switching to bins . I still use totes & whats left of my bags for home use due to convenience in my situation .
I can get totes for free, I just gotta go get them an hour away. Once I get a tractor I my convert to a few IBC totes, we'll see what I can conjure up in the next few years.
One day we're going to put a building over this pad, which is also answered in Saturday coming up video and I too will do like you and stack as high as I can. I'll just have to leave some accessible for my lil lady to be able to reach it when she fills the stove. Thanks Travis 💪
I’ve always stacked on runners of some type. Wicking ground moisture is a waste of wood. Yes, a neat wood yard is part of a good business model, buyers notice. 👏
Lol, you'll probably have a fire half the size of your field 🤣🤣 I wish I had your kinda property brother. I know it's alot of upkeep but you guys have such beautiful land out there. I can't wait to visit one day!!
You've got to keep customers happy, no matter how many times you touch it. Maintenance is inevitable!! Guess Ms. Taryn has spoken!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
..I'm not gonna judge you by how many times you touch your wood... 😅😅 I like to use IBC totes for the wood I sell. Easy to bring a tote to the roadside stand when a refill is needed, and also helps "measure" how much firewood I have. For personal use, I have a shed that holds a little over 3 cords
Right now, I use the racks made from pallets like yours. I have the bases up on runners to get a little more time from them. I may go to the tossed pile in the future.
I thought about doing runners too, but unless I find 4x4s or something treated for free I'll just replace palettes every 2 or 3 years. I too will be graduating to a few bins here soon too. Just not on my property. Cheers!!!✌️
Jack, I started off sorting as I split, and then stack into totes from my dump trailer. I’ve been sorting and stacking out of my dump trailer and into the totes since I got my new Axis over a month ago.
Getting a dump trailer was a complete game changer for me, i too was sorting out of it between heat and bundle grade stuff. Once I get a tractor or some piece of equipment of my own, I too will get some totes and try that out. Seems very simple to move them around later when ready to burn or sell. Have a wonderful day!!!
@ your process will become even more efficient when you get a tractor to move totes around. It’ll even be easier to move your dump trailer around as well.
I stack on pallets but I started using the heavy duty T-Post for ends instead of pallets . I get them from tractor supply . I guess we know where that TV went 😂😂😂 Happy New Year buddy
Lookin good Jack. I 100% agree with moving the bundle wood around to keep it dry and satisfactory for the customer. I’ll be putting a video out soon describing my stacking practices. Stay tuned for that. Good stuff.
Body parts you and fires need to stop meeting lol. I smell a New Year’s resolution! Do your sides to your racks go down to the ground? When I started doing that the base pallet helped support. But I run 4/4s on cider blocks when I stack. Nice looking fence/wall. Has to look good it’s oak and it’s going to be there for 2+ years lol. Wife’s rule about looking nice lol. Happy new year!
You must have better drivers down there - I'd be scared to have my wood stacked that close to the road as I'd go for some wood and I'd have to drag a vehicle off the pile 1st. haha. Yes Sir, I stack my wood on pallets but I don't put any pallets for book ends - just taper the stacks down to the end of the pallet. It does take up more room but less messing around building & maintaining...
Ha if someone hits my wood piles they have serious issues. Easier for me to load cords or 1/3 of cords having them stacked accordingly. I can keep track of what's sold for tax purposes as well as what we use that I store for myself too.
Hey Jack, some nice “Frank’s Mid-Grade Firewood” in your fire pit 🤣. Also with moving your bundle wood, that kept you out of the wife’s hair for how long? That’s worth something also!! 😉 Enjoy your TV!!
Looks like we have about the same amount of bundled wood left, and the way things have been going it might last me two weeks 🤦♂️ this year has been absurd.
It's not a traditional boiler, it's a gasification style, you have to have nice split firewood , just as if you were putting it in a fireplace. There's never really a huge fire in the firebox, cause it all get pushed downwards into the reaction chamber. So the wood has to be constantly falling toward the middle of the stove onto the charge tube. Also punky wood doesn't make good coals and creates a ton of ash, ash will also jam up the air tubes in this thing. I tried burning a bunch of Amazon boxes one days and I had a heck of a time getting it breathing again, cause it was a warmer day and the stove never really went into demand. Carboard charred, became super fine ash and it couldn't breath, choked out all my coals , almost had a fire out moment. These gassers are very finicky of what you can and cannot do with them. Gotta be dry and huge wet rotton wood is one of the major don't.
Howdy Tim, If it's not 100% rotton yes we split, sell and burn maple. That tree was 100% all punky. Go back and watch the video of me cutting it down, you can see it better there. Oh, I eventually will use some IBC totes too, I just have to get a tractor or something to move them with. I do like the idea of having them... baby steps for us over here. Thanks ✌️
Thst right Jack. Whatever it takes to keep the customer happy. We stack similar to you Jack.
I just like keeping the bundel stuff under cover so when my stash gets low I've got good dry stuff to make more with.
Cheers!!!
Wood yard looks awesome man. And I’m afraid that if I put even a 30” tv in my garage I’ll never go in the house. Haha great job Jack. 👊
I've got too much going on to sit for very long. It's nice to catch up on everyone tho while I'm sharpening chains or cleaning saws. 🍺🍻✌️
hi there good /fun show . best to all . john
Thanks John! I appreciate that 👍
Now that's a great fire !!! Goodstuff Jack! Love to burn the extra stuff just to sit and enjoy!! Merry Christmas hoss!
It was cold that day it was nice to go over and get warm every now and then too!!!! Cheers 🍻✌️
We just started stacking and using cinder blocks with 2x4's made on the sawmill. Good video Jack.
Right on, I've seen that done a few different ways. As long as its off the ground they all work!!! Cheers Russ!!

I agree wet wood is no good for smoking or even heating, but... oh well nevermind I'll keep it PG. 🤣🤣🤣🍻🍻
Jack - thanks for the “PG”…!! 😜 I know where that was going…!!

Giant TV in the shop is Awesome plus you have free heat and a refrigerator. Can’t get any better!
Just need a microwave and a couch!!!!
Thanks for watching
I’ve always stacked on runners of some type. Wicking ground moisture is a waste of wood. Yes, a neat wood yard is part of a good business model, buyers notice. 👏
I've always used pallets but used to do the Lincoln log corners which is very time consuming. All about whatever saves me time anymore.
Yard cleanup prep makes it look nicer. I have a good video coming of my fire.

@LogCabinFirewood I should have video up Wednesday of fire

Yeppers the side do go all the way down on our too, gotta have them nice and sturdy so they look nice and purty 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks ✌️
I go through the same thing replacing braces
Hopefully trying these treated 1x's out is a nice option for me with them lasting longer. Time will tell 🍻 thanks

I have another cord still under cover that's set aside for bundle stuff too. It's around 1- 2/3 I've got left that's ready
Weekend boiler wood 😢
Not that punky mess 🤣🤣
@LogCabinFirewood guess I see it as however long worth of good wood you wouldn't use
@@brandonhoad9033 rotton wood will mess up my air flow in this gasser, its not the type of boiler you're used to. Can't just throw junk in these.
