@@azuanatoya by android you mean Samsung? Aside from Samsung the only other good stylus was Lenovo's from my own experience. The one's you got with the dual screen Yoga Books.
Good comprehensive comparison of the two tablets. I've been a Xiaomi phone user for over 5 years and their phones are excellent for value and performance. Over the years I've drawn on Wacom, N-Trig and now I primarily draw on iPad. The pen feel of the iPad is definitely the best I've experienced in terms of accuracy and sensitivity. That said, I agree with Teoh that all aspects of each tablet should be considered, including OS, apps, screen, support, etc. Personally, I think people over-value pen pressure sensitivity and for many drawing styles, it's an important factor but shouldn't be weighed so heavily. Ultimately, it comes down to personal drawing style and preference. For me, accuracy is more important, which is why I like the iPad and its precision. Seeing more competition from Android tablets for drawing is a great thing. I think if manufacturers can get over that hesitancy about being price competitive with the base iPad, they would enjoy more success. As it stands, where I live, the iPad is the best value by a large margin when compared to Samsung and Xiaomi, so given its excellent performance and availability of higher end apps, it's a no-brainer to go with Apple.

I don't know... maybe there is but drawing on iPad is still so much better imo. Hard to explain why tho.
Watching this video...made me realise I took the right decision of buying the iPad.it is just better in the smallest ways where it matters to me.For example, the whites just look much better because of truetone
iPad is helps a lot in terms of lines smoothering. But if you want more precise control and you have skill in your arms - use Xiaomi and brush settings. It's my opinion.
I used the xiaomi smart pen for less than 2 months and the tip of the pen got broken while taking notes, and the company is not even offering repair and they just simply told me to buy a new one
In my opinion, invest your hard earned money on apple iPad for consistency and reliability. I owned a xiaomi device, but used a custom rom because of how buggy is MIUI. *And not all user's are like me who can flash and use a custom rom. Everytime MIUI released an update, instead of fixing issues they add more and more problems. ADS. These are also annoying. Maybe for now it's not present, but in the future they will also implement it on their tablets. Also that lag on pen is also a deal breaker. Especially if you're really gonna focus on drawing. Displays are good on both tablets, pad 5 have HDR support and iPad 9th gen have TRUE TONE. For sound quality pad 5 clearly wins, but iPad 9 have HEADPHONE JACK😏 But for the overall value it's the iPad 9 for me still in 2022. An all rounder. (a students perspective)
Sorry, but if you compare hardware, do it with the same app. While I believe that the tapering of lines is a hardware issue on the Xaomi, the software could also be the problem there. The constant change of apps in your video is rather not good. Stick with CSP, there you can compare them properly.
In that case I should stick with Medibang Paint Pro since it's the app that will show the actual un-configured un-adjusted performance of the pen. Not sure if people will actually have the patience to go adjust each brush they use in CSP. I tried and it's very tedious to use software to correct hardware issues.

@@RandomUser-tj3mg no one's forcing them. It's a matter of preference. And "locking" yourself is a gradual process over years of choosing which devices work for you. If you started with a MacBook and ipod, for example, you might've wanted to go for an iphone due to the ease of use across the other devices. As years go by, you've gotten comfortable with the ecosystem. So with tablets, the preference is almost always towards the iPad. As for me, I've been accustomed to Windows. So Android became a conscious decision for phones (also, Apple prices are just too much). But I'd consider an iPad because it still is the best tablet so far but with budget, I might end up with the Xiaomi Pad 5.
Hand drawn ones, yes. But not-hand drawn designed logos, probably not as there aren't many graphic design apps from Google Play Store, .e.g. Affinity Photo, Adobe Illustrator.
@@teohontech7141 Won't Mi Pad be much more uncomfortable in drawing than graphic tablet is? I mean entry-level tablets not professional. I was thinking to buy one. But Mi Pad looks attractive for the price and combining graphic abilities and multimedia
@@senny_penny The drawing experience overall is good. It's just that the Xiaomi pen isn't as sensitive compared to graphics drawing tablets. The iPad with Apple Pencil has better drawing performance. But as a tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 5 is provides way more value than iPad. Ultimately it depends on what type of art you're creating. E.g. if you're creating comic art, I probably can't recommend this as the lines taper abruptly instead of smoothly and sharply.
I would put my experience wit ipad, pencil, andorid etc: Ios aka apple gizmos have nice hardware, but file management etc is realy shait. They probably put "patents" on active pencil "technology" and embargo on most used drawing/editing apps partners to be exclusive in ios only. This is then only thing that keep therir advantage in tablet world. Otherwise, android is way better in general work, imo. They only need to somehow re-rout apple's draconian "patent" lawyers and put app partners on tandoori trail (there are millions of users, really don't understand why they don't want money from them, lol)

I would rather say that Ipad pencil and S pen perform equally good than say they perform the same. They do their thing differently, each has it's specific flavour, but they are both nice in their own way (I actually prefer the softer and springier feel of S pen's tip, but that's personal). If Xiaomi's pen is equal to S pen, then it should be great too, but in some parts of video it seems a bit lacking. Well, it's their first generation, guess Xiaomi will catch up soon enough.

Not to mention my personal experience, there are thousands of videos on TH-cam that show that the Spen and the Apple Pencil are on the same level and in addition most of the time users of Apple Pencil add a matte protective film (Paper Link) to have the same texture and resistance as the Spen.
You can find Xiaomi Smart Pen tips on AliExpress here tidd.ly/3eqSgr8
For sound quality pad 5 clearly wins, but iPad 9 have HEADPHONE JACK😏
But for the overall value it's the iPad 9 for me still in 2022. An all rounder.

I am a student and my use of the pen is for writing only. For this purpose only, will there be a noticeable difference between Apple Pencil and Xiaomi Smart Pen ?
For writing purposes there's no difference
@@teohontech7141 Thanks for the quick response, Really love your videos😻
So for a Xiaomi fan, and an Android geek like me, the Pad 5 Is the perfect choice
As a xiaomi user The pen is very nice but when im writing in Microsoft one note it's not very stable maybe the right app for writing is need to be considered. If you have a lot of budget go for Ipad but with a low budget and more storage go with xiaomi

Does Xiaomi stylus make loud tapping noise like the apple one? As I want a tablet for making notes and I find using apple stylus too noisy in classroom.
No noisy tapping sound

brother i want a tablet for reading books and taking notes. these are my two main objectives. at most of the times, i would be writing on my tab. i used ipad 9th gen and i actually felt that air gap due to non laminated display. should i go with xeomi pad. i don't draw that much on it.
Go with Xiaomi. It's a much better tablet
U must also used the exchange pencil , mi pen lo n iPad and vice versa
i had my hands on mipad 5 in xiaomi store, and i think the overall build is quite solid

Qual nome do aplicativo no mi pad 5 tempo 9:30?
Great review video. Tks you, guy! 👍
As a U.S. resident I really wanted the Xiaomi Pad 5 as I prefer Android but I went with the iPad 9 due to availability in the U.S..
I had to say if I'm not locked with apple because of the ecosystem, I will definitely explore different options. Nice video btw!
I was also locked, now I finally broke that lock and entered to Tab S7, and I must say it was totally worth 😊
Why r u locked. Who is forcing you to buy apple products
If I am not an illustrator is Xiaomi tablet enough for creating logos and patterns?
Thanks
I would put my experience wit ipad, pencil, andorid etc:
Ios aka apple gizmos have nice hardware, but file management etc is realy shait.
Hello, I would like to know if you can edit videos with both tablets and which apps.
why mipad does not look smooth at drawing line compared to ipad? is that the stylus pen faults or software doesn't have any stabilizer?
I am thinking of buying a tablet for social media content creation -- Canva, Tiktok Editing, Figma, and maybe start learning digital illustration/ drawing as a hobby. What do you think is better? Xiaomi Pad 5 or Huawei Matepad pro 11?
Xiaomi because Google Play Store is pre-installed
@@teohontech7141 Thanks for your answer Teoh! I love watching your comparison videos.
Hi ... Thanks for sharing us this information.. just i want to ask you about the application for drawing in mi pad Xiaomi 5 that I can download it .
The one I use is Concepts. Other good ones are Sketchbook, Medibang Paint Pro, Krita, Tayasui Sketches, HiPaint, Infinite Painter
Teoh will you review the Lenovo 8inch tablet? Y700 thanks!
Also what's the closest app to procreate for windows
I'll not be reviewing Lenovo Y700.
Closest app to Procreate on Windows is probably Clip Studio Paint with Simple Mode (minimal UI).
if you're going to compare the tablets, please compare them using the same app :/ the apps used also affect the result
Hello thanks for your video, a query I want a tablet with a pen mainly to draw, study (take notes) and watch videos but I am not sure if the Xiaomi pad 5 pro will be able to satisfy my needs, do you recommend it?
For casual drawing, Xiaomi is good enough. The Xiaomi is better than the iPad in almost every other area except for drawing. I've mentioned the limitation of drawing performance in this video.

Hi Tech on Tech,
I'm considering buying a Xiaomi pad 5, do you have any recommendations on how good the palm rejection is? Because I want to buy it for university and I'm writing and taking notes with my palms on the table..
Greetings from Germany
Apps that accept only pen input will have perfect palm rejection. There should be no problem since most apps will have that feature.

What kind of tablet is better for note taking?
Any tablet that supports a stylus (same brand as tablet) should work well for taking notes
What would recommend for drawing and which pen is better - xiaomi pad 5 or tab s7?
Edit: S Pen can taper the lines much better. Other things to compare, e.g. price, Samsung Dex, S Pen with cheap replaceable nibs, SD card slot, 8GB RAM, better processor.
@@teohontech7141 In my experience the Spen and the Apple Pencil perform the same, so to say that Xiaomi's Pen is on par with Samsung's is to contradict this whole video.
@@milanjovanovicpictogramax6032 I'm not saying that the Xiaomi Pen is super bad, but to say that it is at the same level of performance as the Spen while saying that it is less good than that of Apple that's where I'm not Okay.
Not to mention my personal experience, there are thousands of videos on TH-cam that show that the Spen and the Apple Pencil are on the same level and in addition most of the time users of Apple Pencil add a matte protective film (Paper Link) to have the same texture and resistance as the Spen.
I do not find it really honest to say or want to believe that the Xiaomi Pen is on the same level as the Spen, it is not true!
@@rolins3279 Yes, I understood you and generally agree. I'm reluctant to bash (or praise) Xiaomi's pen because I actually haven't used one myself (yet). I can just comment after what I'm seeing in this and other videos (and some personal experience with various other pens). My guess is that Xiaomi is not there yet, but that they will catch up soon. For example, I was pleasantly surprised how good Huawei's second generation of pen feels and performs.

I'm still not sure between the two. I'm leaning more towards Ipad 9 JUST coz it's apple. I have friends who use old Ipads and are still fine with it while I don't know anyone who used android tablets for that long. Pad 5 def has better specs but I need it for just drawing tbh. The only reason I'm not straight up going to Ipad is because Pad 5 is a lot cheaper for me but also I don't mind spending extra for Ipad. This is tough.
Xiaomi Pad 5 is a much better tablet except when drawing the lines don't taper as smooth as Apple Pencil, which I don't think is a big deal but that of course depends on the type of art you create.

I am wondering what the longevity of the Xiaomi is, compared to iPad. Would someone still be using Xiaomi in 5 years?... With current updates?
Not sure how many OS updates Xiaomi will get. It's a great tablet now. As for iPad, it's sold with outdated specs today and will continue to get updates for a longer time.
