The thing about killing the big guys first is that they depicted the telepathic link between the hive so hormagaunts automatically die when a warrior or something bigger dies near them.
This doesn't kill them in Ruthless, I think it does damage to them still, so you might need multiple execution of majoris enemies for them to die. But, then again, Melta goes brrrr
The easier difficulties are more lore accurate in terms of weapon damage and space marine tankiness. The harder difficulty is genuinely for the challenge.
@@proggz39 To an extent. The weapons should feel accurate but that doesn't mean you can't have some level of progression in how it performs. Damage is only one metric. Sadly, this game doesn't throw more enemies at you with increase in difficulty, you just get damage sponges.
@proggz39 the downside of them locking the best weapons behind the harder difficulties, is that it gets people who aren't good enough for those difficulties, to need to go into them. They can't stay on normal and get everything unlocked, they NEED a bunch of difficulty 3 and 4 to get the weapons
TLDR: Melta isn't the only weapon that gives more contested health back, its any AOE damage because contested health seems to be calculated based off damage done to ANY enemy entity. Melta just triggers the bug more frequently because of how it does damage. Hey Legend, wanted to share what I've seen with the Contested Health bug. It seems that contested health works basically like "if [contested health] = active, then [%damage done to enemies] is added to [Current HP]" (I'm not a programmer but i'm trying to just get it concise. The issue is that the MAX contested health bar is only enforced when damage is done to ONE target (such as an execution) but when doing AOE damage, either from the Plasma gun or the Melta then the available pool of contested health is ignored for total damage done to all targets. It seems that the intent was that damage done to just one target would be added back to the HP pool but the implementation makes it so that damage done to ANY target is added back, when damage is done via Primary Weapon, Secondary Weapon, or Melee. Equipment (grenades) doesn't do any contested health regen. This is just from what I've seen.
I guess the "max contested health bar" is only enforced per target, and not on the total. This is the only time I've seen anything from this game though, so just basing it on this video and your comment.
Spiffing brit played this to show off a couple of exploits, one of which was that you can heal all your max contested health off of every target you damage. The other one he showed is that for everyone but assault you can infinitely dodgeroll and have permanent I frames for everything but explosives.
Yep i can do this same thing with bolt rifle with GL. However its easiest with melta because you don't need to aim and its just very fast and easy to use.
Man great video, I have now learned you can heal mortal wounds with stimpacks. I had no clue, all of my friends had no clue so that's gonna help us a lot, lol. Have a nice day.
Thank you a lot for the video, I struggled a lot with that white bar and losing so much health, this helps a lot! And good to see you can go to the next area without clearing out all the mobs, didn´t know that too. Then again I play Bulwark, so I´m limited to how many enemies I can slice up at once.
Bulwark has the best health regen in the game currently. They don't need contested health, you simply knock any enemy into the execution stance, then drop a banner and immediately press execute. This will fully restore your health and will do the same thing for teammates if you drop the banner for them when they perform an execution.
@@Birdzlitlehelpr thanks for the explanation, I'm Not far enough with my perks. Only reached Level nine and invested Points to reach Deathwatch shoulder....

These are the tactics that I imagine legend instills in his units whenever he controls a unit on the battlefield, titas is just a legendary lord and legend is controlling the Cadian/space marine units every move outside of controlling titas too.
Funny thing any AoE damage can do what melta does, the healing part. For example standard issue bolt rifle with GL, if you just chuck a grenade when you have little white HP you get to full HP instantly. And bolt rifle GL on relic level can 2 shot rubric marines with scan, and i am pretty sure GL damage is same across the levels it just changes the ammo count. So anything AoE = bugged like melta.
Most of the people I meet in Ruthless don't use Melta and get by fine. Sure, it's the strongest weapon by a wide margin but it's absolutely not necessary for playing Ruthless. Hell, it's way more fun without it.
Hey there, small tip, if you play the tactical class, you can essentially spam infinite dodge rolls and you will not be damaged by anything unless ranged weapons hit you from the back.
You can farm Ruthless difficulty quite efficiently on Mission 3 (Daemonhost at the end) since you basically don't have to kill anything aside from one possible event. It's actually quite easy.
Nice one Legend! Great plays. Also love the melta in PVE. Btw. the vid also serves as a guide for the basic mechanics of the game even if you don't want to play solo
OH SHIT! You're playing this too! Hell yeah! Been quiet a few months since I've watched ya, every now and then ill watch a vid or two. But ive been eating up space marine 2 vids since i cant play it yet.
What you say about the bots is right and I'm terrible. The bots in this game are really good. On my normal playthrough, they never got stuck, they left me executes when I was low, downed once each. I think a lot what is wrong with this game was sacrificed to make the bots that good. It would be nice if you could issue basic commands. Republic commando had this like 15 years ago may more and no game has matched it. Turret placements your squad could man and ordering them to do things would have literally made every aspect infinitly better and probably changed this into the squad game I it's trying to be.
its worth mentioning that you can simply spam your dodge roll to get past sections where killing the enemy isnt strictly necessary. so long as you actually dodge roll away from enemies and not into them youre practically immortal. sprinting is a bit faster but also less safe. combining this with the health recovery from that contested health bug can probably easily get you through some maps.
Was not expecting to see legend playing this, but happily surprised. Would love to see you do a pvp match against spiffing, just to see who comes up with better cheese.
A bit of information for easier last stage for this operation, there's a lever that releases gas on the right and left platform that you need to activate in the middle platform. its way easier to clear the mobs that way
I started playing Vanguard last night, and it quickly became my favorite class. Grinded to level 10 in a session. Logged on today and saw all my progres was lost 😭...even whilst playing online. Im trying to find the motivation to do it again tonight. I hope they fix this crap soon, bc I know 100% I'm not the only one this has happened to.
I get it, it’s a game mechanic. But the first one specifically had health gain on finishers as a defining trait. Threw that away and said you only gain health on damage, only after you take damage. Never mind that space marines have “legendary” healing and literal upgrades for it… the worst is clearing 5 packs and to just get stun locked from 1 mistake on the last pack and your team one shots them leaving all your health gone instantly.
If you stin pack it creates a small window to heal to full health with the melta. It happens because stims does contested health for a small window. Meltas are going to get the hammer for sure. They are the only viable weapon.
Legend rocking Black Seraphs heraldry seems fitting I think. They're all about luring the enemy into the open with drop pod assault and then annihilating them from orbital bombardment
Another really good tech for such an exploit is that you can animation cancel reload right after you see your magazine ammo count change simply by swapping to another weapon, saves time to heal and kill
For speedrunning purposes, in the Astra Militarum camp, instead of going into the cave, you're better off checking the path on the left instead, there's 4 corpses in the open and it's easier to check them out than the clusterfuck that's the cave.
@legendoftotalwar hey there : Idk if u know but since u like ur tactical : there is a boltrifle where u can unlock a grenade under barrel. In combination with the perk that u gain 1 mag if u.
