When I lived in Thailand in 2019, I haggled once on camera for a video shoot...and that was the end of my haggling/bargaining journey. Since the pandemic hit, I made a solemn vow never to haggle in Thailand again. The people of Thailand are so warm and welcoming, kind and generous...and they suffered mightily these past few years, thus my vow. As an American soon-to-be retiree, I am blessed beyond measure. I'll tip when appropriate to show my gratitude to God.
I live in Chiang Mai. It is a bit less rural than Issan,...but surprisingly similar to North Georgia. In 8 years of living here, I have seen 2 snakes, one centipede, and mosquitoes do not seem to fly to the 6th floor. Thanks for an accurate video. The last time I went to NAN, there was a 6.3 earthquake,...made me think of why I didn't just take my bike out on the Mae Hong Song loop. America has become too toxic for me. Cheers.
Thanks for sharing!
Great video full of tips thanks
Thank you for the info
Thank you we go in October
Thumbs up 👍 Tony
Thanks 👍
Haggling with the merchants (3:13 min). So glad you included this. Hanging out with a couple new ex-pats, it kinda drove me nuts watching them haggle with merchants over a few baht - knowing they probably have much less than us. #smh #loveyourchannel
Another excellent video! I'm coming out in November for a few weeks to Phuket for vacation and to check out the possibility of retiring there or Chiang Mai. When you talk about insurance, I assume medical insurance and personal injury insurance?
Yes, medical insurance.
Thanks for watching and have a great time on your trip! 🇹🇭😎
Thanks
Thank you very much!!! We really appreciate it!!! ❤
Hi there. Thank you for another informative video. 😊 Do you have a more recent videos on good condos and / or guest houses / hotels that interested people who are looking to move to Chiang Mai might be able to look at? Thanks again. Look forward to your next video. All the best. 😊🤝

@@TheNarrowGate Thank you kindly 😊🙏🤝
Tipping is mandatory in the U.S. It sucks.
Yes it does!
Do you make recommendations for private drivers, hotels, etc? Thanks. I am visiting Thailand in Nov/Dec
Where are you visiting?
Great videos always!!!!!! Have a question I'm coming in October to live there To Retire I was wondering when I would arrive in Chiang Mai because I don't have a return booking flight. Will I still get a 30-day tourist stamp? Or what do I need to do?
Will you be using an OA visa using bank statements from your home country? Or coming on a tourist visa and sending money to your (future) Thai bank account?
@@beverlyweber4122 I will becoming on a tourist visa and sending money to your (future) Thai bank account?
Ask Asist Thai visa on their Facebook account. Link here facebook.com/assist.thai

Hi. Are there any American banks in Thailand (Citi, JP Morgan Chase, etc) that if I have an account in the US I could withdraw money from? If not, how did you access money when you first arrived? I think I remember a past video you mentioned Wise? Thanks for any help, and thanks for all the helpful videos!
Not that I’m aware of. When we first moved here we used our Charles Schwab atm card to withdraw money from an atm. The great thing about the Schwab checking account is that they refund you the atm fees that you pay.
Once we established our account with Bangkok Bank, we now make transfers from our US bank account into the Bangkok Bank account via Wise.
Thanks for watching! 🇹🇭☺️
Any advice on SIM cards, I have an iPhone 11 and I’m with AT&T that has an international calling plan but it’s $10 a day
Any advice about the cards and will they work for international calls or just locally in Thailand?
Thanks so much
I’m arriving a week from today 🎉
If you get a Sim card here, it only works locally in Thailand. If you have an iPhone, you can call somebody with an iPhone in another country for free.
The easiest thing to do if you’re here temporarily is just get an international plan for a month with your service carrier that works in Thailand and you’re good to go.
I plan to be there at least two months, I do have an iPhone as does most of my family. So that's good to know, but as for SIM Card I was under the impression that certain ones will allow us to call internationally. Thank you so much for replying, I really appreciate it@@TheNarrowGate

Yes! Love it.
