Another great video, love the views of the murals towards the end. And learning how to pronounce Oaxaca.

Hola Georgia and David. I'm glad you reached Sayulita safely. Based on your description I'm glad I'm not in Sayulita at the moment. 50 years ago six tourists would have been a crowd. If you have time reread my notes on Sayulita that I included in my comments about Tequila. It's as if I'm describing a totally different place. I'll try to send an idea or two about Aguascalientes. In the 1940s one of my great uncles, born in the early 1870s, visited Aguascalientes. He was befriended by a young man who managed to help him gain access to the tunnels and catacombs under the city. The tunnels used to be closed to outsiders but they may be a tourist attraction now. Good thing you visited Puebla and Tlaxcala before "Popo" buries them in ash. I hope Morelos is unearthed before you visit the conventos in that state. There are several good ones that are well worth a visit. I hope your dog isn't suffering too much from the heat and humidity. Happy trails.

We enjoyed Sayulita a lot. I don't think we would in high season though. Right now there is a good mix of Mexicans and foreigners. There are still unpaved roads and many beach shacks selling crafts and tacos. It has definitely grown but still has charm. Tomorrow we head to Ajijic for a week then off to Aguascalientes.

Hola Georgia and David. I'm so glad you finally had a chance to see the interior of Santo Domingo. It's a great church. The ceiling of the coro bajo is an amazing piece of sculpture. The Dominicans certainly knew how to spend their money when it came to creating spectacular chapter houses. Combined with the adjacent convento and regional museum it is one of the highlights of any trip to Mexico. Several of Oaxaca's churches have some or all of their ceiling covered with paintings, a regional design preference I don't recall seeing anywhere else. I'm afraid my artistic preference aligns with those of the citizens of Oaxaca. The first time I saw the pueblo magico signs in a video I was appalled. They seemed out of place in the setting of a colonial town. Perhaps if they had been made of stone and covered with bas reliefs I would have liked them better. Think atrium stone crosses. Many people, as you do, love them, so I'll accept what ever the locals vote for. One can always avoid filming them or, unlike film, with digital one can edit them out. And it's never too early for ice cream. I guess next week you will start on the state of Hidalgo and adjacent areas. Any chance you stopped to see Coixtlahuaca on the way north from Oaxaca. You may not have felt you had the time, since you don't like to drive at night. Hidalgo is one of my favorite states with so much to see. I've been working my way through "Catalogo de Construcciones Religiosos del Estado de Hidalgo"' 1929-1932 (1300 pages of text and 400 pages of photos in two volumes of elephant folio size pages). The survey found 800 churches. Did you miss a few? There's always the next time. Anyway, a beautiful video. Stay safe.

Santo Domingo was super beautiful. We didn't stop along the way, we rarely make stops on travel days since everything we own is in the Jeep. We loved Hidalgo and definitely both saw a lot and missed a lot. We are in Sayulita now it's very warm, humid and touristy.

Hello! Love your videos. However, I am curious about something. If it's just the two of you, why do you usually rent accommodations that are so large, with enough bedrooms for at least six people? Inquiring minds wanna know. 😏

Our senior dog was quite a barker and loved a private green space. We also need off street parking for our jeep and like a space to set up our weights and workout bench...so many times a larger property was a better fit.
