    Was this tennis' GREATEST rivalry?

    • @pawshands9706

Without a doubt. The WTA has Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova, and the ATP has Roger Federer & Rafael Nadal.

Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe. Nadal and Federer have too much respect to be the greatest rivalry.

Yes. Without an iota of doubt

Novak Vs Rafa, far less one-sided.

Depends how you define it, but it’s one of the greatest, for sure…
      Since 2000
      Fed v Nadal
      Fed v Djokovic
      Djokovic v Nadal
Could even toss Murray in during his best years
It was one sided, but I enjoyed Federer v Roddick
      90s
      Sampras v Agassi
      80s and 70s
      Lendl v McEnroe
      Connors v McEnroe
      McEnroe v Borg
      Borg v Connors
Those are some of the biggest….
Dig through the vaults and enjoy them all!

that's because old fart here talks like Roger is death..... like dude be happy for him he is just leaving the sport not your relationship..... can't even listen to this dude talk. like honestly you would think he would be a pro by now talking about tennis. can't even make a complete sentence.

@@Sergio-tb5ko kindly don't belittle any player. I was never a Federer fan but he was beautiful. He had a smooth game. I am a die-hard Rafa fan but I like Nole too. Any player who made it to the top 100 has done well in life. It is hard work to get there. My advice to you as a friend is to do so. Rest is your choice. Regards

As a casual tennis fan, I know of these two great legends and how much of great men they are, but since the retirement announcement I have been blown away emotionally. I knew of their competitive rivalry, but nothing of their friendship. To battle as fierce as they did, while being great friends solidifies them to me, as the biggest rivalry in tennis. Reflecting now, wow, we live/lived in the times of some tennis GIANTS! Thank you, to both legends.

      @zokkostenniszone3282 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes agreed, I'm still reeling from that. Didn't expect how much that affected me but that was naive of me.It was his attitude about his whole career and retirement that shocked me - the GOAT/ GARP but still so much modesty, chivalry and most of all humanity. This was sportmanship at its uncompromising best as expressed by the one and only RF !

Something is telling me Rafa might retire soon as well. After last night and what Rafa is talking about now I understand why he won so much against Roger and against rest of the world. Passion, dedication and commitment to beat Roger was his biggest fire and motivation. I believe I can say without Roger, Rafa would never win so much. The biggest rivalry of all time in all sports history. The relationship between them is what makes it even better and it is beyond any words how beautiful the story is. Used to hate Nadal due he took so much from Roger but as he said as years go by I realized he exactly is more than a friend than enemy. His tears last night just blow my mind. Thank you Roger for everything and thank you Rafa for being for Roger. Fedal forever !

Rafa has never been in professional tennis without Roger. We have to remember before he was where he is now, he grew up watching him on TV then was the first to actually beat him on a GS final. He wons his first 5 GS titles against Federer and broke the record of being the longest no 2 in history chasing Federer. For him, beating Federer will always be the highlight of his career. No matter how many titles he's won, inside he's still that 17 year boy chasing his world number 1, and Federer is and always will be irreplaceable for his professional and personal life.

No. They can't be best friends (at least normal best friends) because their lives and backgrounds are so different. They can't even understand each other perfectly because of the languages they speak but, no doubt, there is a deep and genuine bond of mutual admiration and comprehension between them that, maybe, is more important than normal friendship and I believe it will last for all their lives.

The Fedal rivalry is the finest example in sports. Doing your very best to win is respecting your rivals ability. A wonderful example for all kids taking up this great sport. Fedal shows how it should be played at the very highest level in ability and sentiment.
