The easiest way to fix your shifter play no tools needed | Fj Cruiser | automatic transmission

Step guide
1. Unscrew the shift knob
2. Remove the center console by pulling the rear part of the plastic
3. Remove the small panel at the bottom of the handbrake
4. Remove the shifter cover by pulling the lock (careful not to break the lock)
5. By pushing the shift lock button move the lever to L to gain access to the shifter cable (if you don’t remove the shifter cover it will be hard to access the shifter cable eyelet as the black plastic will cover the bottom part of the shifter)
6. Install the rubber bush into the shifter cable eyelet ( it will be more easy to put it back to the pin than the one I did on the video 🤦🏻‍♂️)
7. Install back all the parts that you removed
Please note that the oem rubber bush alone is not available in any autoparts store in my area unless you will buy the whole shifter cable kit.
You can find this bush in used autoparts store or scrap yard just to show to them the video where the bush is installed, most of the Japanese automatic transmission cars has the same part like this.

How did you get that white plastic off? Mine has a cable from the yellow button that prevents me from lifting it over the shifter. After that there's another black piece surrounding. My bushing is gone but I'm stuck at the white plastic.

Tracy Luljak Hi. You dont need to remove that white plastic cover, just shift your lever to 2 or L then you can reach the eyelet of the cable.
The yellow button you are saying is a light bulb to illuminate the gear indicator 😊
