Cropduster Airplane Sounds and Sights of Flight

Crop-duster planes ambient sounds up close and in the distance. Watch the flight operations, seeding and maneuvering to apply rice to the fields. These Pratt & Whitney powered propeller craft have a marvelous sound as the turbine engine adds power climbs, banks and dives for another pass with incredible agility over fields and power lines. The doppler pitch shift is prominent as planes fly past the microphones.
Many planes can be heard at once and at other times one plane far off is heard in the distance.
The sound designed has been meticulously mixed for a pleasant background listen.

I was a truck driver. Sometimes driving on the country roads a plane would come out low and scare the daylights out of me. They sure are fun to watch.

I live in a rice corn and cotton community in Mississippi. My house is at the north end of the local airport and our ag pilot has his hanger behind our farm shop. These sounds are very familiar.

I got halfway thru this over an hour video to find out you have no round engine recorded. That is what raw horse power sounds like. A geared 1340 Agcat is really something that is a great sound. Even a 450 would have been acceptable. That sound will be lost forever and it has only been a few short years and that is all you heard. And do you even know what an 1820 Thrush sounds like? Now that is round sound at its best.

These guys could easily transition into wonderful fighter pilots.
I could see them transitioning into the A-10 Wart hog tank destroying aircraft.
Also, think of all the birds, flocks of birds, crop duster pilots have to deal with, and or at times plow through, not to mention powerlines, and the shifting weight of their liquid or powder cargo.
Low to the ground, slow speed, sharp banking turns, is most pilots nightmare, cause that's when most planes stall.
Most people have no idea how skilled these pilots are....other pilots do, but most ground observers do not.

Turbine’s are not turbo’s. The are turbine prop engines. Simple terms tiny jet engine with gear reduction and accessories. As best as I can describe it. Daddy flew A’s and B+’s w/P&W 1340’s hanging out front
