He eventually recorded but alone and the voice of Jennifer was added during mixing. Everyone agree magic was made with the final recording and the rest is music history..
This is flawless. The vocals are tight and sound even better than a recording. No lip synching, auto tune, no backing dancers gyrating and twerking. Just two amazing singers giving it everything they have.

I've been watching a LOT of TH-cam over the last couple weeks. This one, however, is the one I come back to most. It is the most spectacular duet I've ever heard. Their expressions, their effort, Jenn's reactions to Joe, the whole is simply mesmerizing and beautiful. What a warm feeling you get for these two. Ms Warnes is a national treasure and Joe is with the angels.

The summer this song came out my parents got divorced after 21 years of marriage. I heard the words "the road is long, there are mountains in our way". I was 14 at the time and I knew that seeing my parents divorce that life does indeed put mountains in your way. So here I am at 54. At 38 I got divorced. I lost both of my brothers. At 47 I found another woman and had my first child. My mother has dementia. My father had a triple bypass and every week I do his laundry, medicine. The girl I was in love with in my teens died of breast cancer. Life did put mountains in my way. My daughter is 7. There are always mountains in the way.

Actually she is seeing where he comes in because he is singing a variable/version but still in time. He actually has masterful skills to do that. His timing is perfect. The timing is kept by the band. He variants well like Bob Dylan. Joe is also using different octaves on parts. She is also amazed by his tech. so she copies that passionate style and gets it eventually and rocks it.

This song was released when I was 7. I've loved it since the first time I heard it in 1982. It has a magical quality to it that sends a flood of beautiful memories back. The girl I was in love with in my teens died of breast cancer. Life did put mountains in my way. My daughter is 7. There are always mountains in the way.

Did anyone catch that ? He can't read music, he gets a feel with his movements, so shes learned to WATCH HIM and she therefore sung in sync by waiting on him....., WOW, she's a real professional. She sung on many of Leonard Cohen's songs by the way.
Actually she is seeing where he comes in because he is singing a variable/version but still in time. He actually has masterful skills to do that.
His timing is perfect. The timing is kept by the band. He variants well like Bob Dylan. Joe is also using different octaves on parts. She is also amazed by his tech. so she copies that passionate style and gets it eventually and rocks it.

This song was released when I was 7. I've loved it since the first time I heard it in 1982. It has a magical quality to it that sends a flood of beautiful memories back. The most amazing part of this clip is the adoration that pours out of Jennifer for someone she obviously adores, and admires.
When she was growing up she had a poster of Joe Cocker on her bedroom wall. Later, she saw him performing in a movie of Woodstock and she just knew then that she would later sing with Joe Cocker at some point in her life. I guess the two of them were musical soulmates.
