Becoming a firefighter is a dream for many, but for others, unexpected circumstances can be the flashpoint to changing the trajectory of someone's life. In this video spotlight in Spanish, we meet Lieutenant Mariano Elías, a San Francisco Mission District native, who tells us of the near death experience that led him to dedicate his life to firefighting and helping his community as a member of the San Francisco Fire Department.
