  • The drive to simplify and enhance our product systems is a continuing challenge we enjoy at Spies Hecker. Now thanks to the use of innovative technology users of our well known Permasolid Speed TEC system can benefit from rapid processing, easy application and fast drying when refinishing plastic parts. When used with Permasolid Speed-TEC HS Speed Surfacer5500/Speed-TEC HS Wet on Wet Surfacer 5550 the new Permasolid Speed-TEC Speed Plastic Additive 9260 provides the adhesion and flexibility required when painting plastic parts without compromising on the quality and performance users have become so familiar with and appreciative of. Additionally, this also offers users the possibility of a pure white wet on wet surfacer for plastic refinishing, very useful when considering the number of white cars on the road today.

Nice !Right now we’ve been having to use an adhesive promoter first ,let that flash and then put the wet on wet on.We are using right now the Spectro sealer I forget the number .Also what degreaser were you using to scuff that raw plastic bumper?Ive been told not to use solvent based degreasers on raw plastics .thank you

Hi again, thanks for your interest and questions. You have clearly recognised the process benefits here of not having to apply a plastic primer/adhesion promoter before the surfacer. This of course saves time and will help you be more productive and use less products.
The cleaner used during preparation of the plastic bumper can be found here sdstds.shcolor.info/Doc/TDS/EN/EN%207010A.pdf This is suitable for cleaning plastic substrates and also has a mild anti-static effect”

did you flash off between half coat and full coat on wet on wet primer, and is it same practice for hs voc clears?

Hi, thanks for your interest and question. The product shown here is applied in a continuous process without flash off between coats. With regard to our Permasolid HS Clears the majority of them are recommended for application in a similar process where no intermediate flash between coats is needed. Always check the TDS though as there are some exceptions where certain clears i.e. 8034/8055 can be applied in 2 single coats with intermediate flash off.

we just switched from the 5450 sealer to the 5650 water sealer. Is something like this going to be available for the water sealer? I’m in the United States so I do know some products are not available here

The products featured in this video are from our EMEA product range and are as you rightly point out not available in your market. With regard to the products you mention I’m afraid I have no experience with these and would ask that you contact your local sales/technical support for any possible updates. Thanks though for watching and taking the time to comment
