- Hey guy’s in this video I demonstrate how to bend ur copper accurately using the center to center method. The Hilmor, CPS, and Uniweld bender all have a reference point that can be used to bend accurately. Also keep in mind that u always measure to the center of where u want ur copper to be. I hope this video is helpful. Please Like & Subscribe 👍

Thanks so much, I had the yellow jacket for 25 yrs. I bought the Hilmor and hated it and went back to my old one. I called Hilmor and they didn’t have the information you just gave me. 38 years in the trade and I truly appreciate your help and time to do this video.
Awesome man, glad to hear this video was informative for you👍
Just a tip if you buy a bender buy one with the reverse bend capabilities otherwise you won't be able to do some bends. Good video!
Thanks for the tip!
That hilmor /hilmar looks like a thing that will give you RSI and also doesn’t support the tube shape while bending so not a good tool thanks for showing us this info
Thanks for the tip, I just got the BlackMax 👍🏼
Thanks for taking the time.
Thank you so much man. With the help of your knowledge sharing, I have better understanding of using my CPS tube bender. And I am improving a lots and I am utilizing my tube bender a lots. Please keep sharing knowledges
No problem bud, glad to hear this video was helpful to you👍
I really like ur channel so far. So much hvac stuff is geared towards service techs. I never went to trade school or anything so your videos are super helpful👍👍
Thanks bud, I have a lot more content coming soon so stay tuned👍
@@AZSolutions92 second time watching this one! Got a blackmax now
Thank you, this info is priceless. I winged it for a long time until today.
Awesome bud, glad this video was helpful to you. 👍
I appreciate the work you put it bro and information on these tools thank you
No problem, glad it was informative for you 👍
Thanks for your kind information 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much, i had the blackmax for a while and didn’t know how to bend using the center method.
No problem, glad this video was helpful 👍
Thanks for the tip I always wondered now I’ll be able to save more copper
No problem, glad this video was helpful for you. 👍
Love these videos!
Thank you 👍

Excellent video and quality explanation so Liked and Subscibed! Bonus for staying professional and not having music or other distractions. Your trick's principle makes perfect sense with any bender.
Awesome, Thanks for sharing your thoughts 👍
Well done I have learned a lot from all your videos
Awesome, glad to hear my videos have been informative for you 👍
Thanks for this video, man.
No problem man, glad it was helpful.
Well done Sir . When those bender designs first came out I would test them and put My own reference ticks with a paint pen .
Thank you, and yea thats a good idea.
Can you bend offsets and crossover with these tools?
How would you use this to bend a mini split line where you don’t need to measure the distance from one end.
If I just want to bend the copper on my center marked point on the pipe I just line up that line with either point on the bender?
Great video
Thank you
Very good video!
Thank you👍
Thanks
I am so glad you have closed caption turned on: I can't hear a word you're saying!
Thks very good!
Awesome appreciate the compliment 👍
Ok. Suppose I have to make two 90 degree bends to hug two corners of a room. I have my starting position on the left wall. I have the distance from start to first corner. I have the distance between the two corners and the distance from last corner to stop. Picture looking down into a room and needing to wrap copper pipe from left wall, to back wall, to right wall, to some stopping place.
I have the distance for all these lengths. Call them a, b and c.
a is from start to first corner.
b is distance between the two corners.
c is distance from second corner to stop.
How do I know where to make the bends so the pipe hugs the wall?
Paul
Just got my bender today, playing with a little bit of 1/2’ so i noticed firstly the the lines for the 90 degree are out by a pipe size, so my 1/2 is sitting where the 1/4 and 7/8 mark is, and for the 1/2 my centre measurement is my actual measurement plus another 1/2, next ill have to check the same measurements on the reverse, followed by me doing the 5/8, nice bender though, just gotta learn what the bender does, no biggie
Man thanks so much
No problem, hope this video was informative 👍
@@AZSolutions92 life saver!
Awesome man! I’ve been wondering what the center was with the CPS. Thanks for the video!
Any tips on how to avoid the dents inside the 90 bend sometimes? Oil?
Yea no problem bud, And honestly it jus depends on the copper, u can heat it up then let it cool down before u bend it or try some of the zoom oil lubricant.
I find if you bend the copper slowly it prevents kicking. Hope this helps
Copper pipe comes in coils, just bend the pipe same direction of the coil to avoid the dents.
Could you possibly make a video on hydraulic swaging tools would like to know what’s the best one
Hilmor or navac. I've had the navac for about two years and love it. My buddy has the hilmor. Both very similar in quality. Very well built and precise swages.
Do these benders work on hard copper pipes or just soft copper? Thanks awesome explanation bro
No you cannot bend hard drawn copper or straight copper
Its meant for the soft copper ACR, If you have hard drawn copper then you have to anneal it before you can bend it.
Do you recommend one over the other for a first bender newbie ?
The Hilmor would be perfect for you, make sure to get the kit with the reverse bending attachment.
Excellent video!!! It is a shame the we pay alll of this money for these tools and the MANUFACTURERS don't give DECENT instructions on using THEIR PRODUCTS!!! Do you use any Lever Benders?? I have hilmor benders..
Thank you glad you like it, and yes I have one but only use it for 3/8 copper when i need a sharp 90* bend
Which bender would you say is the best if not pros and cons for all three shown here?
It would be between the Hilmor and cps, probably the Hilmor since it snaps together faster.
@@AZSolutions92 I have the CPS black max flaring tool so I want to keep it in the same family (brand). Did you ever do a swaging tool video?
you should go to work for hilmor because nobody there seems to have as much working knowledge about this product as you do. this is the first time i have ever been able to find out where to line up copper in the hilmor
Im glad the video was helpful 👍
Good info. However, if you'll deduct ½ of your pipe diameter from measurement it'll put you exactly to the outside of your pipe as apposed to the center.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Are ripples normal with ratcheting benders??
Yes the ripples are normal, sometimes they are more or less noticeable, I noticed I get my best results when I let the copper sit in the sun for a bit to warm up.
the reference point on the Hilmore should be more obvious. It should have a white mark from the factory, now those lines casted in the upper part of the mandrel are deceiving as a center point, unless if that indicates the end of the bend,
My BlackMax doesnt have those marks on them. What now?
At 7:35 I pointed out the reference point were to line ur copper up to , its the top of the head were the cross bar attaches to the bender, ignore the black marks that are on the crossbar, those were when I was practicing to find the correct reference points. Hope this helps
@@AZSolutions92- Thanks for responding! - So, what if you use, say, 1/2 inch? Have you tried it with other pipe diameters and the reference is still the same?
@@treefellonya
I have used 7/8, 3/4, and 5/8 copper with the same reference point in the video, I haven’t tried 1/2 copper.
On the hilmar the two lines on the head are for the center to center not the botton part u pointed at. Theres a reason the lines are there.
Yup lol
The hilmor one kinks my copper almost every second time with 5/8s copper pipe. Hella annoying
Sort the sound out please.
Pipe ripple....
Time to invest in a wireless microphone
Thanks for your valuable feedback, I just ordered one.
Seems over kill for a 90* bend
Thanks
No problem
Thank you
