    Purchased the Doyle set the other day and I will say it is one very good tool and provided me with many 3/4 inch soft copper tubing bends in a confined area where larger benders would not work and piping could not be bent up outside the area and then installed. The reverse feature was used for about half the bends. With a little practice, one can get a dimension for accurate measured bends using a mark one makes on the center of the crescent die. Had no issue removing die from drive stem. Well made tool and should provide long service with common sense use on soft copper tubing. A Hilmor would of been nice, but Doyle set was well less than half the price.

    10:10 The CPS BlackMax BTB300 appears to be from the exact same mold as this Doyle 58674. The level of identicalness is beyond what copying or reverse engineering would normally yield. It's extremely likely they're produced by the same contract manufacturer.

    My Hilmor does that sometimes, you got to squeeze the handle, not enough for another click but enough to get it to push on the pipe, then hit the release button to get it to release.
    Looks like a decent setup... Wish my Hilmor came with the reverse bender deal...

    Trying to find a 5/8" bender for copper for a tighter 90° in stock nearby today; and this video is costing me money, while I am saving more money dealing with a lineset however ;)

    I'd buy it for a backup to my backup with a backup, started with the big long two handle jobs. 7/8" all the way 1/4". Then went to Y/J Plastic racheting set now to Y/J alum cast. But none with reverse mandrels still use my 3 in 1 for smaller piping, love that thing ..

    Does it work with steel tubing?

    I've yet to see anyone demonstrate the tool straightening pipe.

  • @realSamAndrew

    What is the reverse mandrel for? Is that to straighten a pipe that was previously bent?

    • @scotts4125
      @scotts4125 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the tubing is in a tight spot and you can't put the bender in the way you want. A lot of times the tubing will already be attached at one end and not easily moved.

    I borrowed this tool to do a mini splt install. Does it have marks to do left and right measured bends? Nothing in the instructions.

    • @MMNcentral
      @MMNcentral 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No marks on the dies for a reference. I used a mark at the center of the die, practiced on some old stock and was able to get a reference measurement to work with (a "cheater pipe" method used in roll cage tubing bending - fabrication). It worked nicely to get me accurate measured bends.

    • @Bostonn617
      @Bostonn617 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MMNcentralcan you explain what the marks would be needed for? I’m doing a mini split install and only need to do one or two 90’ bends but am planning on getting this tool since the pipes are 1/4 and 5/8 and I heard those can be a pain to bend

    • @MMNcentral
      @MMNcentral 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      . @Gsxr617 It is unlikely one would need this tool for bends in 1/4 soft copper tubing as it bends easily and kinking it should not occur if a proper bend radius is allowed. This tool will provide nice bends on 5/8 soft copper tubing. If one is doing measured bends (tubing that must hit a target after the bend is performed), then predefined reference marks on the dies by the manufacturer simplify the process. I am unsure if other ratchet tubing bender manufacturers provide instructions relative to utilizing die reference marks, or if it is a try and learn process. "How to Bend Copper using the Center Method" by Alex Z video suggests a method to use, and I agree that some practice on scrap pieces can be very helpful to achieving success.

    Do all of the hydraulic benders warp the pipe like that ?

    • @solishomero
      @solishomero 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This is hydraulic, hence takes a pair to bend that 7/8 brotha.

      @oscarcollins yo I was about to purchase this the other day. It was a used pair but only came with 1 die a 1 1/8. I would have to buy all the other dies correct!?
      You're right compared to the difficulty to bend anything over 3/4 with these doylez the swaglok is a tesla vs honda civic

      It's almost on the money a CPS blackmax knock off,I have the cps one. Only difference is the block assembly. Cps uses 2 different bars and doesn't have the wing nuts to hold the blocks on. But the markings on the handle for 90° to the color coding and how it screws on for the bar and reverse bender attachment is all the same.
