The sad part is, I think for one moment during the chess game, just one brief moment, the scammer was genuinely having fun and forgot about the scam. In that moment he showed he was still human. But then immediately snapped back to talk about the money. Just sad.
The thing is that most of these scammers are very desperate and impoverished, some may even be struggling to eat and feed their families. I'm less angry with the people doing the scamming than I am with the horrible roaches actually running the operations. Yes these aren't kind people. They're willing to threaten people's lives, deceive and steal which regardless of everything else is of course unacceptable. But you have to remember that they see us here in the first world as incredibly wealthy. They aren't going to feel quite as bad if they feel like we'll be okay no matter how much they can manage to take. Now we live here and see our own poverty of course. We know that just because someone lives here that doesn't mean they won't end up homeless or are living anywhere near comfortably. But they see a whole different level of poverty where they are. It's so important to keep that in mind. These people aren't excused for their behaviour, but it's definitely more understandable when we remember they're also being taken advantage of by those who're already taking most of the profits. So sad honestly. I hate greed and I hate the poverty that colonialism forced onto the world.

The issue with these people is that they tend to see us as rich assholes with money to spare which dampens empathy. However you believe this person is going to be more than fine without that money, while you're over here going hungry. Survival reflexes kick in and since you don't think it's really harmful to this person anyway, you overlook those values to put some food on the table. Buuuuut they're stealing from people who really can't afford to have that happen. Maybe they don't even realize the damage they're doing. I would also honestly be more forgiving if they weren't so fucking MEAN. That's what bothers me most. It's one thing to steal from someone, it's another to act like an abusive jerk while you do it.

Unpopular opinion: Last few seasons of game thrones could've been so much better. And people accepting this ending, not just the last episode are brainwashed. The creator even said 10 more seasons could've been easily made. But they didn't care. They had to get on and make some starwars series. That's why the ending sucks big time. And if you think it doesn't suck. You ofcourse can think that. But you must agree it's way lower quality than the first 6 seasons. Last 2 seasons weren't even 10 episodes each like every other season before was. Fuck game of thrones I actually stopped watching start of season 7 cuz I already felt where it was going. And my thoughts got confirmed with the ratings of the last season lmao. Funny thing, not one episode is rated 8 or higher. Also the last 3 episodes, usually the best. Are rated 5,5 6 and 4.1. That was my rant. Hope someone enjoyed. Also Dark is the best series ever made.
