  • In this video I'm going to finish the interior, including getting the roof and seat airbags replaced after which the seat will get restitched. But the main focus of the video will be the step by step turorial on what is takes to get the SRS module (AKA airbag computer) reprogrammed in order to reactivate the restraint system.

    It's certainly been a while since your last video (4 months). No doubt you'll have videos a lot more frequently now with what you've been doing lately. You seem to be able to find ways to make repairs at minimum cost, but your level of skill in many different areas lets you do that. I think you could almost repair a car for the cost of the paint, using your home-made repair tools. This was really interesting how you managed to get the chip reprogrammed. Certainly an "off the beaten track" method, but it worked really well. Hope you are safe from this COVID-19 over there. Not too bad here in Queensland Australia, but Victoria and New South Wales are not doing so well. Looking forward to your next video, whatever it might be, as your videos are always interesting. All the best from Australia.

      And I agree with you 100%, this video was done to pull the veil back on the process, just to show folks what goes into getting it done. There is a shop about five minutes away from where I live that I take my modules to where the guy gets it done in just a couple of minutes for $50. I don't mind spending the money if it frees up the rest of my day so I can do other stuff

    Brother, you are awesome. May I know where are you from, location? I have the same issue but with a 2010 honda crv. But my air bag didn't deployed, but the seat belt just got stuck, so I replaced with a used good one. Now that airbag sign still showing. My mechanic told me I have to buy a new one from dealership or flash it . I am on a budget so I am looking for someone know this type of work. You seem like an expert in this field, that's why I ask you. Please let me know if you can . Thank you for your time and consideration.

    There are some poor auto repair videos on you tube...but this is NOT one of them!. Great camera work in tight places ie focus and stillish and with light. Great explanations, and no steps missed out , you know the really difficult ones that people spend hours trying to work out but the video just skips right past it. Not the case here. For example we didn't suddenly go from " I need to remove the crash data from this module..." to ...."Well after I got the module back from the guys who sorted this for me all I have to do is refit it in the vehicle. Simple eh? " Pffft!! Like that is no help at all. But this Fx206 could show these a guys a thing or two. Well done, and trust me a well done from me is very hard to get. Two thumbs up. :)

This way it's not just the entertainment value, but I want folks to take something away after watching. Same as you I am hard to please, I seldom comment on other peoples videos, but if I do it usually means that the video was awful and I feel like I have to say something, or video was great and I feel like I have to let the creator know that I appreciate the effort he put into it !

    Totaling a car for Supplemental Protection from Seat belts which is the real life saver is simply Ridiculous and a ripoff to us consumers, It should of been affordable not unaffordable and costly. Airbags are the cause of Millions of cars being totaled out because of accident damage on the car and airbag replacements, that sometimes cost more then the front end damage of the car :o/
    Congress needs to rethink Airbag laws as some states Like NY Don't even allow cars to be repaired with used airbags even if they were never deployed, which is just another scam and a Vendetta against Mafias Big Air bag Scams back in the early 80's . In the end they ripped us consumers off.

    • @fix206

      After the module gets refreshed and installed in the vehicle, it's going to make sure that all of the airbags are plugged in, deployed airbag will act the same as unplugged airbag so if module will not see one of the bags it will display an SRS light and will generate a foult code.

      You don't need to replace impact sensors unless they were physically damaged in an accident. Locked up seatbelts would have to be replaced, I have never had to replace a clock spring. Sometimes if the plugs melt to the blown airbag, you can just get them replaced, it's much cheaper and easier to do than having to replace the entire clock spring

I sent the module and seatbelts to get replaced.I bought the airbags from a junkyard and installed everything back. The airbag light is still on and my innova 5410 can’t even connect to the car. • @fix206
      @fix206  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be different things, you may have a bad connection in the plug that comes off of a wiring harness where it goes into your knee airbag, so your app cannot see that airbag as being connected. It's hard to tell what it is without actually getting in there and doing some testing ...

    • @fix206
      @fix206  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for a late reply, but the way to trick the system would be to acquire a good airbag that has not been deployed and then measure the resistance of the airbag with a multimeter through the pins on the back side of the airbags assembly. Once you know the resistance value then you can get a resistor with a matching value, wire the resistor into the place of the airbag and the SRS module will think that the airbus is in

    The stitching for the seat airbag needs to be done in a scpecific way in order to rip in the exact way the manufacturer intended it to. How sure are you that you are stitching it the correct way and that the airbag will deploy in the same manner as oem? From my understanding it is safer to have no airbag in the chair if a replacement kit is not available.

    I have a general question. I have a 2020 Accord that I just got and got into an accident and airbags deployed. The car had k-tuner flashed into the ECU. When the body shop replaced the airbags they had to reset the modules or program the ecu to accept new modules. Well when I picked up the car today, the and the ktuner module isn't finding the ktuner maps in the ecu. Does reprograming the ecu reflash it back to factory and wipe out the ktuner maps, bringing the ecu back to factory?

    I'm waiting for the follow up video, the one that states you are in litigation because you modified a safety item. As we all know it clearly states in the work shop manual to replace the restraints control module when this fault is present, it dose not say to use a Chinese tool to modify the eeprom of said module. So the next time this vehicle is in a collision and safety restraints fail to operate or some attorney who practices law, as an advocate finds out you modified the vehicle safety item ( because yore so cheap you would modify a safety item) and sues you for gross negligence ( failure to take proper care in doing something) I hope you have big cash reserve as negligence law suits have no cost limits in court. I wouldn't do it to save a few dollars of the clients money. To much risk .

    • @fix206
      @fix206  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would normally take the module to a guy that would do the exact the same thing, but I thought I would do a video about the process instead since there is not a whole lot of info out there on the topic... And for your info I did not modify the the module in any way, just reset it back to it's original state... Does it really make a difference whether the tool that I used for programming was made in China or someplace else? Majority of the electronic components in these vehicles are made in China, so what is your point? This sort of a service is widely available online and also locally if you know where to look, I don't see anyone being sued left and right as you make it sound...

    • @fix206
      @fix206  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On an SRS module, dealership wouldn't want to fix something like that, because they would make much more money selling you a brand new module, that's why there's not even a procedure for something like this in their shop manual. Now if there was a recall on this module due to some sort of a programming error they would for sure get it reprogrammed to save car manufacturer money in the end, because customer pays nothing for a recall service, but the dealership still has to get paid, that's why auto manufacturer figures out the cheapest way to go about it so they don't put themselves in a really deep financial hole. I repair GM clusters, because they have different types of problems that are easily correctable if you know what you're doing, dealership doesn't have any instructions on fixing these clusters, they will just sell you a brand new cluster for about $1000...
