I can’t thank you enough for all of your tips and for you taking the time to teach and prepare me for the FB interviews! I’m so excited to say that I got a FB offer and I certainly credit it to you.
Thank you for your personal sessions with me and creating relevant and real content that can’t be copied. I love your authenticity and your passion to help others excel.
This is extremely helpful content Dianna. Thanks a million for this!
The 5 things you've asked us to do after watching this video is exactly what I needed, as I was clueless how to prepare for a managerial interview round.
Very helpful content, especially the action items in the end of the video! Thank you.
I liked the Action part explanation. And the time split for the answer. Thank you :)
Few question that I face a lot is " Tell me about a time you made a mistake " , " Tell me about a time when you had to influence someone with / without data " , " Tell me about your most challenging project "
Great video! To internalize it i have to be critical. :) I think 5 mins to answer a behavioral question is too long. Some PMs recommend 2-4 mins, some say around 2mins is the best. I think unless it's really an engaging story, if it takes 5 mins the listener will easily lose track. And you have to memorize a lot! Being able to concisely communicate is one of the qualities PM needs to have. Give the interviewer the chance to ask follow up questions.
How to dramatize what happened?
First skeleton and then add the following flesh items.
Add emotional details across all details of the story ( makes people care what happens ) ( use words like dread, hope, upset, disappointed, ecstatic )
Include details of what people say or do or felt or underwent ( more specific you can make the story -> more people can visualise -> makes people care even more )
Thanks for sharing your best practices! Keep them coming. I love your emphasis on "First the skeleton, then flesh" Totally agree-i'm covering that in an upcoming video, wish I saw this comment earlier so i could have quoted you in the script!
@@diannayau Thank you so much. Glad you found it helpful.
What I hate about these questions is how unremarkable these examples are in the totality of our career. I don't keep and store "conflict resolution" scenarios in my head. So I just make them up in interviews. Ultimately not serving anyone any real purpose.
This video was very helpful. Thanks a lot!
Glad it's helpful! Let me know what are the trickiest behavioral questions you've come across, i'm collecting a bunch of questions to tackle in a future video
@@diannayau One of the ones I've gotten is describe a time where you received feedback that was difficult to hear & you don't agree with it
@@yeamon52 thanks Maha! will add it to the list, planning an upcoming video for this!
Great Video..Nice work👏
thanks Kumar!
Hey Dianna, outstanding content as always, thank you very much! Can you please help with these behavioral questions - "Can you tell about a time when you failed as a product manager" and "Can you tell about a time when you made a mistake"? Thanks in advance.
Hey there! ideally for "failure" and "mistake" questions you'll want to point to a story where you actually failed, but then reflect on what you learned and maybe what you did to improve or what you did differently when you were presented with a similar situation in the future. Thanks for the suggestion-could be good content for a good video and i'll add it to the list!
@@diannayau Thank you very much! is it necessary that your product should have failed in answering this question or you could have failed in meeting an expectation or deliverable as a product manager, e.g. did not communicate properly or did not keep the team motivated, but ultimately you worked to make the product a success
The biggest struggle for junior level roles is that we don't have that much experience/stories to respond to all of these questions.
I hear you, there’s ways to frame any of your existing experiences that can apply. I recently covered examples on how to frame different experiences in this in this resume video FIX your Product Manager RESUME! 5 Easy Steps
