There is a lot of un-helmsman like behavior in SoFl and Bahamas. I don’t know if it’s ignorance, ineptness or plain stupidity. Large percentage of ppl down here do not understand seamanship and civility. 😮
Congratulations on making across despite the gremlins. Nice jobbie of editing....I really like the 3 panel view. Enjoy the heck out of your cruise.....you've certainly earned it on so many levels! Here's hoping you can keep boat yoga to an absolute minimum!
We kept our boat at a marina in Sunny Isles Beach on the ICW (just north of Bal Harbor) and we would frequently just cruise the ICW, stop for dinner at some place with a tie up, and then take a leisurely evening cruise back. Enjoyed your video and looking forward to hearing more about this Bahama trip!
Keep your videos coming. You can make videos of your other life during your break from the boat. We are just as interested on how things are going. Try it! Find a way to make it fun with adjusting your expectations.
Happy the nasty sound turned out to be not too serious. Some great drone footage at the end of the video -- you guys are getting really good at that. Looking forward to more videos. Very enjoyable.
I wonder if in the Bahamas they have a similar law related to your wake and liability. Nevertheless, I watched your videos when you had to pull your boat out of the water along the Hudson. I saw the pains and perils you went through then and I found myself actually worrying about you two as to whether you would press onwards. I know that feeling. I was there in 2015 and called it quits. Well I am back and bought a boat in November and have a new attitude. The same exact one you described at the end of this video, regardless of the obstacles in front of us, the rewards are always right around the corner. Thanks for reinforcing that for me Sheldon.
We love messages like this, and it is why we continue to make videos, even if we don't do it weekly. Congrats on the new boat. Press onward friend. We will see you on the sea.
Can you tell me what channel Searching for C- Shells is On? I accidentally hit.. Terror on the Ocean. Haaa Knew if Anyone could handle these....it's you guy's. Very glad to see you Back.
Nice story…keep the positive attitude even in the darkest times. I just got back (WPB - Elliot Key) from the keys with the kids. And, the following day as I was side tie, got t bone at the stern by some moron (charter sport fisher) gunning boat in reverse trying to dock. You would think him being at fault, we would at least get an apology. There goes our trip to the Bahamas in the near future. Unbelievable! 😢
Glad to see Sheldon didn’t get injured when that “person “ made that huge wake. I suppose that was the karma , unfortunately , for whatever the obstruction was on the prop .Ciny take care of yourself and your Man !
What lake did you anchor in Miami? Mall Lake? It's hard to find a decent anchorage there and I'm always looking for a decent spot when I stage. Great content!!!!
@@SearchingforCShels I did 100 miles in the Chesapeake Bay not long ago use 30% of my Tank running 25-30mph I can hit 40-45 but I never run it hard no need
I would get a diver down flag (red and white center stripe) to put on top of the boat next time you are going under, could be a disaster if you are around the prop when something like that happens!
lol a bit of wake, some junk temporarily on the prop and 3ft waves on a boat is a bad day ? hahaha. wait until you hit a deadhead. now that is a bad day.
NOAA Marine weather, The GFS and ECMWF as viewed through Windy, and Marvs weather. I like to have all these align on favorable weather before crossing.
based off the channell marker in the video you were anchored next to a channel. He was not at fault and doesnt have to slow down in a standard travel lane. next time dont anchor off the channel
The entrance into Bimini was there, we pulled into the beach area well out of the channel. They did not take the channel out, they blew by us without a care in the world. Real boaters mind their wake. In my 25 years of boating I have not been waked like this ever. I hope you are mindful of your wake when you are boating.
@@SearchingforCShels was there a no wake zone? the only thing that the captain should have done is give more clearance.. born and raised in florida 50 years. been boating all my life. IF you are at anchor and thee is not a no wake zone he doesnt have to slow down. should he have given more space ? sure but that is hard to tell on the video what the distance was. The only reason for him to slow down if there is a no wake sign or traffic. From the looks of the video he was in a larger trawler so larger wake is expected since the boat was very stern heavy.
There are no no wake zones in the Bahamas or very little. He should have given more space and slowed down. Rules aside, common courtesy should rule here. If you see someone anchored in a weird spot or even in a channel chances are they are having troubles or are in distress. It is ignorance and selfishness not to consider others when you are on the water even in channels or even open water. If I come by an anchored boat I slow down, I don't know what their situation is. And if I'm in a channel and putting off a big wake and I have to come close to someone even if they are underway, I'll drop my wake. I hope you do the same.
@@SearchingforCShels that comes back to my original point he should have given more space. As far as slowing down unless the boat is in a grounded situation or distress. Im not going to slow down and seeing as you are in open water (off the coast) the area you are in doesn't present any rock hazards or shoal with one engine you could have put yourself in a better situation where you were not on the edge of the channel. That still doesn't excuse the captain coming to close unless you were on the edge of the channel. My 32 contender doesnt put off a wake like a trawler does even at full speeds so that is a mood point.
You should review your regs for Florida. These are the Bahamas regs as pertains to the situation. No vessel shall be operated: Within 100 feet of shore, dock, anchored vessel or swim area at more than 5 M.P.H. In an imprudent or unsafe manner.
It was only the last half that was a little bad, if we had stabilizers we probably wouldn't have noticed. The main problem with the wake was they were completely unconcerned and ignorant of anything we may have been dealing with, and could have injured someone or worse.

These people need to stay docked. They only want calm seas like it’s a lake to sail. They are too nervous. Three foot swells are not bad. It’s the ocean.
