I have a black S63 and love the factory bright chrome. It was designed by a designer at the top of his field (Mercedes) who felt the chrome expressed the aesthetic of THIS PARTICULAR CAR best. And since mine is a cabrio, the wrap-around chrome supports the nautical design theme of the interior - it looks like a boat and like it should be parked by boats. Over 600 hp and it never races anybody - it just cruises and sometimes gets zippy for fun.
I think it looks great? The blacked out style on the rear is amazing! The shoulder line is very strong in the design. These cars are meant to be quite heavy, they’re big saloons! The price is because of the hybrid system and the beautiful interior.

i kinda guessed they would do a six beater with hybrid setup. seems like c63 is now the entry level engine and you keep adding cylinders as you go up to the S63
The wagon is a beauty. Kinda feel like the side should've had a line to emphasize it's width/fenders, but you can still see it from the front. Maybe there's some value in the stealthiness, too. Or maybe the 63S will get something. I like chrome, sometimes. I'd probably like to see a Maybach SL with a chrome detail down the center of the hood. Bet that would look very cool. Especially with some Maybach wheels.
Yes. I commented too that the area around the grille should be body color metal, not the black plastic. It would look much more classic Benz DNA and just have better lines.
A rare comment, and I completely agree. I have a pre-facelift AMG and chose it intentionally: my pre-facelift S63 Cabrio has the same grille as the 190, 280, 300SL, 560 ... all of the classic Mercedes convertibles.
Mercedes lines are soo BEAUTIFUL its actually insane. So classy, so elegant and so gangster its kind of crazy how it manages to pull off such character.
The rear light design is excessively tacky with those tri-star LEDs. Seriously, we all know it's a freaking Mercedes, no need to shout out the marque every time the driver brakes, sheesh!
Five MercedesStars on the rear end might feel like an overkill, but I like the look of the four stars (bling bling) integrated on the tail lights.. kind of cool
1970 Mercedes: “we created ABS with Bosch to make cars safer. We pioneer the use of FEA to simulate and design crumple zones.” 2020: “LOoK MerCedDES sTaRs EvErYwhERe!”
The front is pretty good actually, wasn't expecting to like it, but it looks great. But the light signature on the tail lights is just so damn awful.. Doesn't fit Mercedes, and their thing of having to put the Mercedes logo everywhere has reached a point, where it's just becoming ridiculous.
Tail pipes are fake. And that giant gaudy logo though? Anyway the hybrid part of the scenario is a joke, but the power is functional. Last but not least, is the shelf on the trunk that will hold water snow and dirt. The integrated headrest sets are just dumb. Those are race car seats and I wish manufactures would stop putting them in passenger cars and SUVs. Another trend I wish would die. Second only to piano black. On the bright side, Mercedes does a few things right. First, in that their infotainment display is completely integrated into the dash, and does look like an aftermarket iPad add-on like in Teslas and all its imitators. Second, the very clean and functional look of the center console. Everything can be covered and looks nice and neat when not in use. The materials are also high-quality. Who doesn't like carbon fiber? Well done Mercedes. Finally, I agree with the wheels. You can see the attention to detail they put into them. Its hard to find a set that I don't like. Although I do prefer the 5-spoke for the performance versions.
Rumors say there won't be an E63 for this generation, which is evidenced by them going all bonkers with the E53. I think this is great considering hw poorly the C63 turned out with the 4pot. Better to stick to just 53 monicker and not tarnish the 63 line any further. Unless, they somehow can bring bak the V8. Let's hope! 🤞
I have an E550, I wish this was not a plug in hybrid and they maybe just put the electric turbo on the inline 6 and they could probably more than the 443 hp in the CLE and that would be enough of a jump over the current car and the E450. This will probably be 4800 lbs and $100,000+ starting price. I do like the look of the new E-class minus the awful gloss black piece around the grille.
Having lots of hp is not that exciting any more. Even a kia EV6 has some 500-600 hp, but what is exciting is a v8...... Also this car looks way to tall from the front
