This movie is full of black excellence. Can we please get reviews on the following romantic comedies:
    Strictly Business
A Thin Line Between Love & Hate
    Booty Call
    Sprung
    How To Be A Player
    Woo
    Half Plenty
    The Best Man

We should definitely take sex more seriously. Religion wants to sweep it under the rug, secularism is often seen as being the opposite. But neither side examines sex and the intricacies of relationships in a measured and serious matter.

The soundtrack to this is a BANGER! Right up there with Waiting to Exhale soundtrack. The characters in this movie though....a MESS! And that's speaking through older eyes. Watching it in my 20s was Black magic, seeing all those beautiful people on screen. But watching MARRRRRRRCUS now🥴😂😂

Boomerang is my ALL TIME fave movie, as I am a romcom girl, and I adored me some Jaqueline!! Marcus deserved to be sad and unemployed in the ending tho. 😂

Trash ending. Yes. I finally saw this movie a few months ago, and I really hated that Marcus got back with Angela in the end. The main character had to get a happy ending I guess, but she deserved better and he deserved worse. Also being a 90s kid, it was cool to see these black stars in one film, even in small roles, and the soundtrack was nostalgic.

    • @Chuck_EL
      @Chuck_EL 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The original ending was Marcus, Jarod and Trey on the rooftop and running to put out the kitchen fire
The screen audiences though it was "too comical ( yeah i know in a comedy film)"
That's why the rest of the film afterwards looks off

Yvonne: So would you like to come in for a cup of coffee?
Marcus: Not even if Jesus was pouring it.
      Gets me EVERY time!!! 😂😂😂😂😂

Maaacus did not deserve Angela at the end of the movie. He didn't show anything regain her trust after cheating on her. I didn't understand why she wanted him in the first place.

One thing I noticed you didn’t touch on, which was Marcus character development
that through the film you see Marcus concept of love and finding the “perfect woman” change, Jocelyn is what he thought he wanted, he was chasing a fantasy, she only wanted him once she knew he was taken and in a better place, it took him to completely lose Angela before understanding what love really is, and that there isn’t a perfect woman and everything he needed was right in front him

I love when people do analyses on my favorite movies, Boomerang in particular. I always say the women were the ones I rooted for in this movie. They were the stars.
Lady Eloise definitely was a precursor of what to expect in the movie going forward between the sexual encounter she had with Marcus. I would argue and say Lady Eloise was the older version of Jacqueline 💀💀 (leaning more on the cougar side that is). And I agree with your analysis of Angela. I heard that the reason they made Halle Berry look homely in this movie was so she couldn’t outshine Robin Givens (they’re both gorgeous women, so no need to compare those two. It’s ridiculous, but whatever). Angela lowkey did give me pick me vibes. I understood that her character was suppose to be the “sweet and kind” archetype to Jacqueline’s vengeful and sour type, but it was bothering me. Not only that, but she friendzoned Gerard too. (Poor Gerard). Gerard was the only male character i wanted to see win at something, you know he was the nice guy always finish last type of person.
Boomerang will always be classic to me, and I feel like it should be heralded more. The writing and story is original (to me) and it didn’t center on white people. A movie that will never get old.
PS: Marcus is still an asshole 😙.

What are your thoughts on this "pass around" generation? The ones that have in common a baby by Future, Drake or Nick AND others. It makes it difficult to teach children otherwise becz it seem to be exciting & dramatic.

ooh, how much time you got??! lol no but seriously, it is very disturbing to me. How comfortable we’ve gotten with openly sharing, partners and ridiculing the last person to do so. The sexual tendencies of our culture has gotten to be pretty depraved and many of us, don’t realize the lasting impacts of our decisions with our bodies. We don’t realize that it affects more than just us and how sacred recreational is doing more harm than good. I have a lot of thoughts about the baby Mama/ baby daddy culture but I will leave that for another video.

Tiffany - loved this-why? You are breaking down archetypes in film, life in America., sexual morays, which is really truth of how Americans ththinkManypeople do not know how much storytelling & visuals on film affect them (1970s films with the long love scenes) Also you are illustrating Christian values Yes!

Loved it but they had to have one sexual scene.🤦🏾‍♀️😪🤦🏾‍♀️ Bruh. Hmmm. But what I loved about this movie was an entirely black cast of very famous black actors. Loved that. Also it was fun. Having a literal trigger warning for sexual themes in a movie that aired in regular theaters in 1992 is just sad. Have *some* respect for your audience.
