What about Cordelia having sex with Connor in season 4 of Angel? She was possessed by Jasmine and he was under her influence. Ruined Cordelia. Made me hate Connor even more. Ruined season 4. Season 5 redeems the both of them with Cordelia coming back one last time to help Angel and Connor comes back to help fight alongside Angel.
Debbie violated a guy still angers me, in fact she is the worse person in the show. If only she left and still had Fiona, given that Fiona deserves a happy ending
I don't think that scene in Buffy ruined Spike. It showed what a vampire really is. Throughout the series they talk about how vampires are evil then we spend so much time with Angel and neutered Spike that people forgot what he was. He is charismatic and attractive and the idea of two attractive people like Buffy and Spike getting together is exciting, but the point of vampires is that they don't grow. Their characters don't develop. Spike had his muzzle taken off and he could finally be what he really was. He only got is soul back out of spite and at that point he became capable of growth. It's funny when he talks about tying up Drucilla and torturing her until she likes him again, but when he tries to force Buffy to love him it's somehow shocking? It's just consistency of character.
I partially disagree. He fought for his soul so did he NEED to do it out of spite? Prior to the incident with Buffy’, he already had TONS of skeletons in his closet. That was more than enough motivation to get his soul. His love for Buffy is what motivated him even though he was fully capable of that UNTIL he got his soul. Angel was cursed. Atleast Spike fought for it. But yah ppl acting shocked at Soike doing what he did it ignorant. Like you said, he was STILL soulless at the time . If Angelus did it, ppl wouldn’t bat an eyelid..
@@lessismore8533 If I remember correctly, when he was doing the trials he made comments like she thought she was better than him and that when he was done she was going to see a change. All while calling her a "bitch". I took that as him being spiteful. In the Season 5 episode of Angel, "Damage" Spike and Angel refer to some of the terrible things they have done. I think it's established that Vampires are capable of love, but it's a very selfish type of love. In the way that it specifically benefits them. And Spike being a hopeless romantic when alive, he becomes obsessed with those he has feelings for as a vampire. Buffy used him for sex so she could feel something in her depression. But when she stopped, he thought he could jumpstart that relationship again by forcing the act. Because it was what he wanted despite how it made her feel.
Spike's may have turned fans against him, but it caused him to go on a journey of personal growth. I would argue that without this act to push him, Spike's character would've gone nowhere.
Disagree. There was NO need for the writers to give Spike some crazy scene JUST so he can get his soul. He’s has YEARS of crimes behind him. That was more than enough. But I still stupid ppl acted shocked what Spike didn’t like he had NO soul yet and it’s annoying cus of Angelus did that to Buffy, ppl would still love Angel..
If you didn't see Nate betraying Ted a mile away you literally weren't paying attention the entire season, and the seeds were sowed from the first episode.
What was Krabs thinking by exploiting Plankton’s whale fear? That crustaceous cheapskate has done many bad things in the past, including selling SpongeBob’s soul for $.62, but there’s no forgiving something like what he does in “One Coarse Meal.”
Not to mention ruining other people’s lives with fake news in that god awful episode “The Krabby Kronicle”. I hate that episode with all my being, especially the ending where Mr. Krabs begins counterfeiting. Not only that he resorts to do something entirely illegal, he finds a way to make money right after he got his ass handled! Why in God’s name is Krabs not rotting behind bars right now?! 😡
I read all the books through quarantine and it really blows my mind how unbelievably misogynistic the show runners seem to me with the changes now. They made Deborah into an annoying needy, simpering daddy issues monster, when in the books she’s really put together, successful, a mother, age appropriate lovers, and she raises the kids at series end. Dexter had a DAUGHTER who he adored and Aster was his protege, Rita wasn’t dumb like in the show . The showtime series really treated the women awful.
What Debbie did in Shameless pissed me off too, she was delightful up until that arc...but, I mean, you could almost say what she did was...shameless? I mean, yeah...the show isn't about how wonderful everyone in that family behaves.
I'll never understand why people thought that ruined Spike. He's evil and has only been doing all the stuff he does to get into Buffys pants. He didn't care about her, and only after that moment did he actually try, by getting a soul, which I think was more interesting than say Angel, who got cursed with it. Spike chose to try and be a better person.
PREACH! As much as I DISAGREE with the writers creating that scene that traumatized James Marsters, he was SOULESS. What did ppl expect? If Angelus did it, ppl wouldn’t blame Angel. Yet they judge Spike differently. Also Spike still DID have good moments even prior to getting his soul, like when Buffy “died” in S5, Spike looked after Dawn anyway
Never seen Gossip Girl but DAMN that guy (Dan?) is so fucking beautiful. It's insane. Like, I think I'm gay now. ^Well, the guy at 1:17 , standing beside the girl. Not sure if that's actually the "Dan" character (the clips make it unclear)...but, yeah, him.
people sometimes do things out of their character, especially when starting the newest chapter of their lives. they are in a new environment, different circumstances and varied influences. yes, people can do things that shock you if their lives take a different turn, but as long as they recognize taking a step in the wrong direction and aim to improve themselves, those surprising decisions that you are so appalled by are not a bad character moment for them to have to be the catalyst to alter themselves.

I think he had more chemistry with Felicity than he did with Laurel. I loved Olicity. And killing Laurel off did lead to Black Siren and her redemption arc, and that was really good. But to each their own.
I didn't mind the Spike/Buffy thing. It was dark - but they were both in a dark spiral, and this was a turning point. It was supposed to be ick. It has been a while since I've watched it, so I'm open to remembering incorrectly.

Dean Winchester in Supernatural S7E3, when Dean kills the kitsune mom and Sam's childhood friend Amy. I never, ever looked at him the same again and pretty much hated and resented his character for the rest of the series. I was fairly fatigued of them both and their cyclical martyrdom by that point anyway, but that was the towel for me.
The next to last episode of MLP where one of the villiains is revealed to be Discord and it leaves Twlight and the gang believing that the victory against the evil King was pointless.
I tried watching Gilmore Girls and honestly, it was not one event or decision that made the show bad or ruined anyone. It was garbage from the beginning. The Office I don't think ruined Andy with his trip around the world. The whole show and him in particular were just crazy and if the guy wasn't going to be a main cast member anymore, its actually a fine way to get him out of the workplace. It makes sense in the context of all the other crazy shit.
I've got to disagree with Spike being on this list. Everyone seems to forget that Spike, at that point in the series, was EVIL. Yes, he was in love with Buffy. Yes, he and Buffy were having sex on the regular. But it was NOT a healthy relationship. It was the very definition of toxic. Spike didn't just wake up one sunset and discover that he was in love with Buffy. He didn't choose to act against his nature and try to not act evil. He had a chip shoved into his brain that forced him to not harm any living person. It was only by sheer accident that he learned that he could hurt demons, and used killing demons as a substitute for killing humans which lead to he and Buffy working together semi-regularly. But he was never actually GOOD. He didn't become an actual good person until the season 6 finale when he was given his soul back (and the memories of all the evil things he did drove him insane for a while). But raping someone who you supposedly love is totally something an evil person would do. Don't believe me? Ask Ted Bundy's ex-girlfriend. Buffy's relationship with Spike was purely selfish. She couldn't deal with being pulled out of Heaven. It left her depressed and miserable. For whatever reason, having sex with Spike made her feel better. For a brief time after they were together, she felt normal. Like her old self again. But only for a brief time, so she kept going back to feel that way again. It became an addiction for her. And when she tried to break that addiction, Spike tried to rape her. His attack on Buffy didn't ruin the character. It reminded the audience of who the character was, and always has been.
That really was one of the biggest TV disappointments of all time. Almost every main character in GoT got totally watered down to their "main" characteristic. Tyrion became just a dumb dirty joking drunk who was mildly clever, Jaime ditched his redemption arc, Cersei basically became a wine mom, John had some kind of brain damage where the only two phrases he knows now are "I dun want it" and "She's Mah Queen" Varys became careless and stupid for whatever reason. And ofc Denaerys. Arya's character didn't really get ruined except by having the worlds strongest plot armor. Bran kinda did bc if you think about it too hard it makes him look like a total sociopath. Ig Brienne's character got to stay pretty well intact. The Hound had a decent arc. AAAnd possibly worst of all Ghost didn't even get a goodbye pet for being the goodest boi ever0
I have had two “Nate”s in my life. Timid but with no other obvious faults who become awful once they feel like they have become part of the cool group. I hated Nate when I recognized what was happening, but I like how he was redeemed and wouldn’t stoop to Rupert’s level
Donna Hayward yelling at Laura’s grave. Like, Laura was a lot to deal with, but her doing that COMPLETELY changed my opinion from her being a tragic friend of to someone that was using Laura much like everyone else that used Laura. Let alone her hooking up with James, but I was willing to overlook that part.
Daenaerys' downfall was something that we had all seen coming. It was foreshadowed from season 1 where she calmly watched her brother die from molten gold poured on his head. She was a Targaryen and it was entirely plausible that after so much trauma she would succumb to anger. Were the last 2 seasons rushed and not as fleshed out, ABSOLUTELY, but let's not pretend she was a saint. And that was the point of the show. No character was infalible.
Nonsense. She couldn't have done anything for Vaserys he got himself killed and he treated her poorly her whole life. She goes out of her way multiple times to not do the expedient thing then they just say it was because she was crazy all along. Utter trash. They ruined her, Jon, Tyrion, Jaime, Stannis (especially Stannis) in that horrid finale.
As much as I DISGREE with the writers creating that scene that traumatized James Marsters, l Spike was SOULESS. What did ppl expect? If Angelus did it, ppl wouldn’t blame Angel. Yet they judge Spike differently. Spike had plenty skeletons in his closet prior to the Buffy incident. That was more than enough motivation for him to get his soul. I wish the writers never DID that scene.
Mayans MC: EZ kills Gaby. Also Mayans MC: the show decides to make Coco into a junkie (and everything that flowed from that). Also also Mayans MC: What happened to Adelita. I mean goddamn, Mayans MC, you just arbitrarily throw characters with so much potential onto the bonfire, huh?
What about Alicent Hightower? They destroyed her character so badly the actress came out and outright started denying the script, claiming she was portraying Alicent to be disgusted with Rhaenyra’s proposal.
I never minded HIMYM’s last season….Ted was insufferable from the get go, with very few redeemable arcs. It was the characters around it that made the show fun to watch.
Signs are not enough to fully tilt a character into madness two episodes after she led an army with John Snow in the north against the white walkers. She either got possessed by a ghost between those two incidents or the writers were in a rush.
Why does everyone hate on HIMYM. People say ‘character destruction’ and incompatible as though they don’t realize that 20 years have passed at the end. No one is the same person they were 20 years ago. You don’t just reach a point in your mid 20s and life goes ‘okay, your entire personality desires ego and psyche are locked in and you’ll never change ever again’
That Shameless character reminds me of Emma from Degrassi NG whose character took a massive turn after the Rick Murray saga in which shes more impulsive, chooses bad relationships and becomes clingy for no other reason than to hide her PTSD
I am okay with HIMYM ending with Tracy's death and him getting with Robin. But they spent a whole season on Robin and Barney's wedding, Barely developed Tracy and Ted, then threw it away in 10 minutes. If the Finale had been told thoughtfully over the course of half a season, detailing Ted and Tracy's relationship and her death (and Barney and Robin's breakup), it would have been good. We didn't have to have a happy ending. People die. Tragedy can be good storytelling. We just didn't want the last season to feel pointless (and Tracy/Ted and Robin/Barney's marriage and character growth feel pointless).
Spike was ruined from the start of Buffy season four. He worked better as a supporting character. Going on to make him a regular made him overexposed. I stopped liking Xander and Willow in the middle of Buffy season three after their relationship. They both became very self absorbed. And their habit of speaking in run on sentences became really irritating.
That wasn't even the worst betrayal in that episode of the Gilmore Girls. What her parents did shocked me to no end. They were horrible people at times. I would never have spoken to them again.
They say Whedon made that scene just cause he was upset with James Marsters for being so beloved by fans that he couldn't do what he wanted with him, like kill him off. Never seen a character let down by writing so horribly before. I understand he doesn't have a soul and is a bad person but the scene just seemed in poor tastend spiteful. Seemed like a power play.
I rage quit Grey's Anatomy after Alex Karev's last episode. They threw 16 years of character developpement right out the freaking window with his last episode. The fact that fans were so pissed and wanted him killed off instead, speaks volumes on how much they royally screwed up his character. Like it was so freaking out of character, he would never ever leave Jo the same way Izzy left him. I'm gonna stop now because i'm getting all frustrated just typing this out.
Have you ever considered not putting the spoiler at the start of every entry. Start with "TV Show (2015-2020)" instead of "Major Spoiler - TV Show (2015-2020)" to give people a chance to skip entries before having them spoiled. The way it's done now just means I don't watch any videos with spoiler tags at all.
How did they ruin Todd, that made his character. That revealed the kind of person he really was. The Buffy one is rough, but I don't think they ruined Spike either, they certainly ruined him for a while but probably redeemed him by the end of season 7.
The HIMYM finale was not out-of-character or out of left field. So much so that I saw it coming a full two and a half seasons in advance. People are just mad it didn't go how they wanted/expected, but to that I say I don't know what show they were watching.
Most of these were the writing really messing up a characters storyline or development. I don’t think Todd from Breaking Bad fits this list. We didn’t know him well enough to know what he was really capable of up to that point. And that was definitely within his characters arc.
Hated Debbie. She has got to beb1 of THE dumbest, worst characters out of all TV history. The saddest part, is that there is actually girls just like Debbie IRL. It's so damn sad
20 years later and people are STILL suprised that a vampire who killed TWO previous slayers for sport, for pleasure, who used to r*pe teenager girls and to torture his victims, would assault Buffy!?! Spike is a villain. The minute he thought the chip wasn’t working anymore, he tried to kill Willow. I know, I know, spending time with the Scooby gang kinda changed him but he’s still a violent being who has a very dysfonctionnel relationship with Buffy when that scene takes place. And you thought he was a changed man? No, he was just a vampire with something holding him back. He really changed and became a new man when he got his soul back. Not before. And to avoid any misunderstanding, Spike is my favorite character and I’m a Spuffy fan. Not because I’m a despicable person 😛 but because I really love how complex Spike is. The writing and acting made him one of the most iconic characters. I also think that the Buffy/Spike relationship was interesting and different… but again, I know that’s only ok in fiction!! Yeah, I have to say that because I’ve been a Spuffy fan from the beginning and some people tend to say to you the the nastiest things in that case. 😅 PS: Of course, I feel for JM who hated playing that scene. I’m sure it must have been very difficult to get into that mindset.

16:30 Fonz jumped the shark because Henry Winkler's dad INSISTED that Henry tell Gary Marshall that he knew how to water ski. Henry rightfully predicted that the fact would be used against him one day. And BOY WAS IT!
Joss Whedon purposely ruined the character of Cordelia to spite Charisma Carpenter for getting pregnant.😡
But Cordie died before that. When she came back in s4 she was The Boss
The real Cordy showed up in season 5.
Debbie violated a guy still angers me, in fact she is the worse person in the show. If only she left and still had Fiona, given that Fiona deserves a happy ending
Jennifer Carpenter should’ve won an Emmy as Debra tbh
ALMOST assaulted Luther? Kissing someone who isn't capable of giving consent is still assault
Nope, Daenerys wanted to go mad queen several times but was talked out of it by advisors. Not the shows fault you weren't paying attention
As soon as I read the title, I knew I would see Principal Skinner from The Simpsons and Andrea from The Walking Dead on this video's list.
@@lessismore8533 The scene they had to do. Somehow the whole fanbase forgot he's a monster.

Mrs Puff tries to kill SpongeBob, Demoltion Doofus, SpongeBob Squarepants
Timmy's secret wish, Timmy's Secret Wish, The Fairy Oddparents
Chloe ruins her redemption act, Heart Hunter, Miraculous
Kim encourages Jimmy to destroy Howard's career, Something Unforgivable, Better Call Saul
Honorable mentions: when Arizona Robbins cheated on her then-wife callie Torres with another doctor during a storm in Grey's Anatomy
If you didn't see Nate betraying Ted a mile away you literally weren't paying attention the entire season, and the seeds were sowed from the first episode.
I never liked Andrea on TWD. She was annoying from the start so it didn't surprise me that she slept with the governor.
Amazing video watch mojo,fantastic job.
I think Alison also forced her first husband to love her and that was the worst thing she did
It’s implied that she did, in season one, as she drove up to the cabin, and we hear all sorts of “rumors.”
You know it's wrong when Squidward, who mostly annoyed by Spongebob's antique called him out for selling Spongebob's soul for 62 cents!
It's awful. The worst
@@Gor85 I couldn’t agree more
Haley going back to Dylan (Modern Family)
Obviously Haley should’ve ended up with Andy, but her ending up with Dylan at all was a terrible choice
Debra got done so dirty. That plot line was ass, and her death wasn’t executed well
I read all the books through quarantine and it really blows my mind how unbelievably misogynistic the show runners seem to me with the changes now.
Andrea was always annoying. From the moment they introduced her.
Arrow when arrow writers kills Laurel Lance and all drama about Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak
like really, they ruined one of the most beloved couples in the comic history.Im glad that Guggenhein didnt geta ny bigget job after that,he ven complained that for it was a waste of his time having worked all these years on the Arrowverse
I think he had more chemistry with Felicity than he did with Laurel. I loved Olicity. And killing Laurel off did lead to Black Siren and her redemption arc, and that was really good. But to each their own.
@@paultapner2769 sorry but they already ruine dit with that shotty ship Olicity
I didn't mind the Spike/Buffy thing. It was dark - but they were both in a dark spiral, and this was a turning point. It was supposed to be ick. It has been a while since I've watched it, so I'm open to remembering incorrectly.
Andrea annoyed me long before she slept with good, old Philip Blake.
Spike ended up Saving the World in the End. Sacrificed himself
Exactly..
James Marsters said he would never do that again .
spike had no soul.. that was literally why he was a bad guy.. that's why he wanted to get his soul.. his redemption was way more interesting..
YAS THANKYOU! PREACH! As much as I DISGREE with the writers creating that scene that traumatized James Marsters, he was SOULESS. What did ppl expect? If Angelus did it, ppl wouldn’t blame Angel. Yet they judge Spike differently…
The moral of Seahorse Seashell Party was actually extremely dangerous. My god.
However, after Jumping The Shark, "Happy Days" would continue for 7 more seasons, and 2 more spin-offs. ("Mork & Mindy", "Joannie Loves Chachi")
I don't agree with Spike being on this list at all
How is that so?
@@mysterykiddo2167 cuz it doesn't ruin his character, it makes more interesting
@@gjjijjiHe had no soul of course he did something bad. It drove him to be better. I love Spike.
Of course "The Principal and the Pauper" would be on this list
Todd doesn't belong on here; it was perfectly within his sociopathic character to do that.
Elena picking Damon over Stefan she even admitted to herself would be the worst decision she ever made
No woman No cry😂
Dropping out of Yale is worse than killing someone? 😅
Buffy and Skinner my favorites good list thanks WatchMojo 👏
Could’ve redeemed Daenerys with maybe one more season to show the change. Instead the change only happened over the course of maybe two episodes.
I dont think that act ruined Todds character, it was in his true nature and that was the first time we got to see it
Donna Hayward yelling at Laura’s grave. Like, Laura was a lot to deal with, but her doing that COMPLETELY changed my opinion from her being a tragic friend of to someone that was using Laura much like everyone else that used Laura. Let alone her hooking up with James, but I was willing to overlook that part.
Dishonorable mention: SpongeBob purposely torturing Squidward
No... just no.
5:13 Will Schuster's most egregious act on Glee was his white boy rapping. Just terrible.
So the moment Ted is ruined for the audience is the last 5 minutes of the show? I think he was ruined way before that
When Patrick began to act like a jerk to Spongebob.
You’re going to have to be more specific
Allthough I disagree with alot how the last season of game of thrones went down but there are so many signs why Deanerys goes mad and burn the city.
Signs are not enough to fully tilt a character into madness two episodes after she led an army with John Snow in the north against the white walkers. She either got possessed by a ghost between those two incidents or the writers were in a rush.
There really aren’t
Why does everyone hate on HIMYM. People say ‘character destruction’ and incompatible as though they don’t realize that 20 years have passed at the end. No one is the same person they were 20 years ago. You don’t just reach a point in your mid 20s and life goes ‘okay, your entire personality desires ego and psyche are locked in and you’ll never change ever again’
They could have made a top 10 list of Game of Thrones characters who were ruined in the last two seasons
5. It was so infamous that many people don't consider the episode to be canon.
16:51 omg they played with this for many seasons I'm shocked I was the only one who saw and heard them say it
That wasn't even the worst betrayal in that episode of the Gilmore Girls. What her parents did shocked me to no end. They were horrible people at times. I would never have spoken to them again.
Debra was so annoying with that Dexter obsession and her obsessions in general. It was just too much for real.
Look under the entry "Chase, Cordelia".
Wendy having Ben killed in Ozark should have made this list for sure.
James Masters ended up in therapy because of that scene, it really messed him up and he *hated* it.

Stan Smith from American dad thinking that his new Neighbors were terrorists
I love Spike. But I hated what he did and couldn't forgive him. I seem to be one of the few.
Weird thing is Henry Winkler was an excellent water skier and did those scenes
How did they ruin Todd, that made his character. That revealed the kind of person he really was. The Buffy one is rough, but I don't think they ruined Spike either, they certainly ruined him for a while but probably redeemed him by the end of season 7.
The HIMYM finale was not out-of-character or out of left field. So much so that I saw it coming a full two and a half seasons in advance. People are just mad it didn't go how they wanted/expected, but to that I say I don't know what show they were watching.
Even though the principal and the pauper was not that great an episode, I love how it was made fun of in the behind the laughter episode.
I've only seen the ones from Family Guy, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Dexter, and Game Of Thrones.
Most of these were the writing really messing up a characters storyline or development. I don’t think Todd from Breaking Bad fits this list. We didn’t know him well enough to know what he was really capable of up to that point. And that was definitely within his characters arc.
My biggest takeaway... The Deep was on Gossip Girl?
Hated Debbie. She has got to beb1 of THE dumbest, worst characters out of all TV history. The saddest part, is that there is actually girls just like Debbie IRL. It's so damn sad
how turned Oliver intoa clone of Batman in Arrow
PS: Of course, I feel for JM who hated playing that scene. I’m sure it must have been very difficult to get into that mindset.
