Because over time we make mistakes, get into disagreements, and people judge and can be unforgiving. You get told mean things. You can unintentionally disappoint people and they let you know all about your shortcomings. Kids at school make fun of you physically or if you are different in any way. And yes, we learn that our natural state is unacceptable and this causes anxiety. We realize we aren’t good at everything, or perhaps not as intelligent or athletic as others. Then it starts to feel delusional to have a bunch of confidence. Starts to feel ridiculous to think something better of yourself that it seems to actually be in reality. I am glad you are bringing up childhood. I still don’t have my parents’ love or praise even at 44 years old! Only criticism. I am realizing now that growing up in that environment really effected me! Much love

Accept yourself for what you are! So simple yet so difficult at the same time. Only understand after one has suffered for a while…

Disciplining a kid isn’t removing one’s love. You discipline them because you do love them. To teach them what you believe to be right.

I don't think he is saying that is what you are doing I think he is saying that's how a young child sees it as because they don't understand all that yet

It depends on how you discipline. There are right and wrong ways.

I agree that in general American culture this is how children are socialized. However, this is not true in all cultures. I have been amazed living in four countries for the past 20 years to see how some other cultures let children be themselves and socialize them when they have some ability to understand and consciously self control, independent of withholding love.

Sadly, an unwanted baby can learn to reject themselves in utero. The auditory nerve is the first thing formed and we are vibrational beings.💞🌅💞
