    In this video, I share some of my thought processes behind problem solving multiple textures instead of focusing on just one. It can be such a difficult thing to tackle especially when there are so many different ways to draw a texture. I look at confidence, constructive mistakes and understanding your tools in creating effective highlights and tones for realistic textures.

    I love that you asked if we had any tips for you. You are so humble and it’s lovely. The fact that you said you hardly know what you’re doing is oddly comforting to me as an artist. Thank you for sharing your processes with us!

    You're reminding me of the current art piece I am working on. A Kraken in water crushing a boat... Water, octopus skin, boat textures, even the stormy sky... none of these things are what I normally draw...Procrastination is a HUGE problem for me, so learning how to dive in is something most artists don't realize in terms of how important it is. I really do hope i can learn so much more from you!
    Even as a colored pencil artist myself, the beauty and transparency about your content still helps artists like me out. Thank you again for this!

    So generous with your expertise. Thank you.
    When I am daunted with a new drawing, I work on it for 5 minutes. Maybe I do 5 minutes several times a day. I find my desire to work longer at one sitting comes naturally.

    I feel that you've helped me turn a corner with my hyper-realistic drawing. I get so anxious when I have a drawing to do with a new texture and I put off starting. You've made me realise that it's an exciting learning experience to be welcomed. The insights into the methods you use and how they vary depending on the form of highlights are so helpful... now I can't wait for morning to come so I can get started on creating new textures. Thank you for taking the time to help us.

    You are just a fantastic artist. The realism in your sketches / drawings are awe inspiring and every time I try to replicate a work of yours - I fail miserably trying to get the feel and the texture of the drawing - so I end up doing just the outlines and important stuff - and gosh they look just BLAND.

    I’d love to see you master white feathers, mainly because that’s what I’m working on 😂, it’s been difficult to perfect the low contrast of a dove on a black background. I’ve seen most realism artist do feathers but they almost always do birds with colors other than white, allowing for high contrasts .
    And also!! Juno I discovered activated charcoal works great for going even deeper in black than graphite, I use a activated charcoal that was meant for teeth but the cotton wool and paper grabs it beautifully

  • @kas88an

    Hi Jono! I have a question regarding use of linseed oil with graphite powder...
    I tried this method and I really love the contrast I was able to achieve BUT now that my work has completely dried I notice some serious yellowing of paper. The paper is completely yellow on the reverse side of the paper where the linseed oil was applied and on the drawing side of paper it has spread out some 1-2 cm of the place s where i applied linseed oil so the yellowing has affected some highlights.
    So my question is if you have noticed the same problems on your works and do you have some idea if i am doing anything wrong? Your help would be greatly appreciated!!!
    (I used the same Arches 300g hot press paper and purified linseed oil)

    • @JonoDry
      @JonoDry  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am so sorry to hear that! I have not experienced any yellowing. Maybe you need to use slightly less oil? I used to use turpentine as my solvent in a well-ventilated space. This may work better for you :)

    • @kas88an
      @kas88an 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JonoDry alright, i'll try to use less oil. Cause i did apply quite a generous amount of it :)
