- In this video i give you few more tips about where to put your focus in your shoes to secure the stability when you are on your outside edge.

Two years later and there is still nobody, literally nobody who (1) dissects skating technique to a higher level of detail and analytical rigour, (2) has the rhetorical ability to give a lucid lecture about it, and (3) provides awesome video footage to back it all up. I could copy this comment now and post it under every single video of Pascal Briand but there you are 🙂.
Thanks a lot. Really appreciate
This is bang on the money !! Very useful tips. Thanks Pascal.
Thanks for sharing again. Can you explain why you should lean against the inner side wall of the boot, versus 'no lean' -> aligning the boot with the leg and direction force?
Your advice is always help ful.
What is the benefits of High calf and low calf boot.
And which one we should take.
Had a go at this, thinking this sort of fine tuning isn't going to have much effect at my level, but ended finding it quite interesting for the side effects. To push with my inside foot I had to push with the inside of my thigh, and my leg felt sort of rigid and had to make an effort to get my hip on top of my thigh. Pushing with the outside edge of my foot, it was a downward push with the muscles on the outside of my thigh, continuing fairly naturally underneath my body, with an overall wider displacement. (I should mention, I'm skating in a normal hsrdboot with cuff, so ankle support is not a problem)
Not sure if either is better but I like to have these options to play with. It also helped me to concentrate on keeping the muscles actively tensed, keeping the foot flat, and pressure constant on the ground.
Thanks for all the videos, I've always found them very interesting.
Thanks great feedback. Keep exploring
Can u make a video about skating technique with "O legs" or "X legs" ? I have light O legs myself and is it make a difference with straight legs? Also with mounting your frames and things like that.
Hello sir I m waiting....❤️
for me, "leaning on the inside wall of the boot" and "putting pressure on the outside bottom of the boot" are the two sides of the same coin, they all mean " a slight ankle inversion". When you are on the outside edge, apply a little bit of ankle inversion, you will fell both pressure on the outside bottom and inside wall at the same time.
Yes and no… putting pressure on the outside bottom of the boot is to generate and control the motion of the outside edge … and leaning on the inside wall of the boot is the « trust » moment to finish the motion and maintain it as long as you need (based on the roll you have) … but great point you mention that so I had now the chance to make this precise detail alive here. Thank you…. So to make it simple bottom at the begining … leaning at the end of the movement :-)
@@ThePascalbriand I tried it today, and began to appreciate the pressure moving from outside bottom to inside wall during a double push drive and I did some single leg slalom to reinforce that feeling. Thank you so much for the tips.
What type of shoe are you showing in this video?
it's my mc cargo custom shoes. The one i use at the moment
Why frame is setting so inside edge not the medium along the feet ? All of professional set like this. I know it is correct but comparison between inside frame vs center of the feet frame please. I mean in reality. Is it effect much about speed and double push?
its to help for the under push / double push
@@ThePascalbriand Thank you
Being fast helps maintain balance on the outside edge ;-) The slower I go, the worse my outside edge stability becomes. But then, I am no world champion.
that is true... the speed can help a bit but it's important to practice at slow speed also to develop the skills.
i never understood why the speed skates are not as high like "normal" skates. i cannot understand how there is enough support to skate.
If the shoes has a correct carbon shape it is holding good enough. Those boot gives more precision which is needed for speed. If you need to try I would recommand the ACCEL from powerslide . They are the best in support.
@@ThePascalbriand wow thanks for the answer!!!
