    Notice how she never really calls Henry "father" nor his wives "mother". Even as a young lady in her teens, she was scrupulous of minding egos and tempers and always referred to others by titles with exceptions for her siblings and close confidants. It's a sad thing to notice that she had to learn so early to be cautious and wary

      It is not sad, it's excellent. This world isn't for the simplest mind.

    During her entire reign, Elizabeth wore a ring that contained a mini portrait of her mother.

    Elizabeth was a great sister to Edward and she took such good care of him and she was always respectful

      what a great legacy... not every reign is called a " golden age"

    If anyone would’ve kept Elizabeth in the kings good graces after her mother’s execution, I now consider that Elizabeth might have been told her father side of the story with her father portrayed in the best light for many years until she was old enough to understand differently. She was friends with Catherine Howard, and knew why she had been executed. How would Elizabeth have learned the truth or come to realize the truth?In a personal level for Elizabeth, I imagine the execution of Catherine Howard would’ve been a trauma, and there would’ve been years of unraveling in her mind about truth. History finds it made her smarter and stronger. She was nicknamed Temperance as well, so I imagine she kept her head on her shoulders well enough to avoid other traumas.

      @@mj1946 Elizabeth was so traumatized by the execution of Catherine Howard, who was a cousin of her mother's & was very sympathetic & kind to Elizabeth, that Elizabeth told Robert Dudley at that time that she will never marry.

    Edward and Elizabeth were only 4 years apart in age. He looks like a toddler and she looks to be about 11 years old in the first scene.

      Well if she's 11 he'd be 7 and he does look 7. And I could believe she's older than her years. She acts very refined and carefully which growing up a bastard and your mother executed and your dad a weirdo bipolar, I'd believe it. And having that she'd be engaged at that age already if she were a normal princess it's possible they were just that mentally mature to act that way. Margret Beaufort was engaged as a baby. Same as Mary Queen of Scots.

      @mj1946 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I figure the ages of the children portray who they are on the inside. Mary is not thought to have developed on a personal level which resulted in her being nicknamed bloody Mary. Elizabeth was very smart to be one of the best rulers in English history, so she could be portrayed as older.

      The show got a lot wrong on the timeline too. Anne was killed when Elizabeth was 2.5 but in the show they made her older so she’d be aware of what was happening

    It was Henri's awful treatment of his daughters, Mary & Elizabeth - after his separation from their mothers - and not his treatment of his wives or political enemies - that confirms for me what a monster he is - and a petty, spiteful one.

    In an alternate universe both Anne Boleyn and Catherine of Aragon lived long enough to see and raised their daughters very well and nothing left for Henry.

    Why did Elizabeth walk away in the last scene

    • @gogreen7794
      @gogreen7794 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +37

      Because her father executed her mother and made her illegitimate. While on one level she probably loved her father, she also never forgot what he did to her and her mother. Now that Henry was dying, she could walk away.

    • @KoiYakultGreenTea
      @KoiYakultGreenTea 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

      She's not as emotionally attached to her father. She never once called him "father" always your majesty. Because she knows blood ties mean little to a man who disowned her and her sister once before and executed her mother. At any moment he could call for their heads or disinherit them, and it's only cos Edward was so young did he put his daughters back into the line of succession at all
