You should drive it to the original dealer if they are still in business and let them see it. I did that once with an old car that was in good condition and the guy that sold it over 25 years before was still there and and was very happy to see it still on the road!

Man does that ever take me back! I had a 1984 K5 Chevy blazer four-wheel drive. It was black top and bottom with red in the middle add red interior like that truck. The sad thing is my dad only sold it about 15 years ago and it kills me to think why I did not buy it from him and keep it
I've got a 1985 K5 Blazer. 14 years ago I picked it up in stock condition, running and driving with some rust in the usual places for $1500. I've spent a lot of time and money making it nice. It's just got something special about it.
I had an 87 model that I sold in 2000 for only $4K and it was in amazing shape. I wish I kept it, they are going for big bucks now in good shape. Mine had a mildly built 5.7, 4 wheel disc brake with a Ford 9" rear differential and looked like new. It was a beast!
A great fine, for being 40 years old it's in great shape. Bet that truck was garage kept, and the owner took care of it. 10 grand is a fair price for that truck, it's a keeper. Don't be a fool in selling it.
He'll eventually sell it. One day it'll be parked and then he sells it because it just sits on his lot and it is too nice collecting dust.

That looks great. Be careful someone might steal it. I had an 86 Sierra Classic that belonged to my father. Had it repainted, bought tires and rims. Looked good, ran like shit. Someone stole it. I was planning to put a new crate motor in it. The funny thing is it needed new brakes,. Put some air tags on it. People want the square bodies.
You have found a special truck. When the previous owner bought it, he probably figured it would be his last vehicle and lovingly used it. Now it's yours to lovingly keep and pass on a legacy. Can't think of a better new owner! Enjoy your new toy,life is short and goes by fast....
Put petroleum jelly on the seal it will help it seal plus bring life back into it

The Square Body and the OBS, some of the best platforms, if you can still find one in nice condition, but parts are still available.
This truck was built back in the day when you could pretty much order it the way you wanted it, people took pride in what they drove, and this truck shows it, yes, it showing its age, but still very presentable.
You did just fine on the price of the truck man. Love the truck and the videos and as always, TY Randy.

I love the truck! I think you did ok on the deal. I have my first truck still it's a 77 k25. It will be my sons when he's 16. He's 12 now. Nothing like an old square body
On the corner windows, before replacing the rubbers, try tightening the retention screw. Often they get loose and don't hold the window against the weather rubber. Quick fix as usually it isn't the rubber that fails. You may have to replace the screw if it's stripped. The screw is generic and easily replaced by something you have in the workshop.

I feel you got a good deal. You should fix the old truck up and put it to work sell the Ram because look at the money you could save monthly. Use the money you save and finish up your uncle’s house. Would really like to see that house get some love put into it. Really enjoy when you and Mike travel there.
Love that truck Randy. I am so glad you like older vehicles as they have their place in American history. They were all made really well also. Sure even with the older foreign vehicles which are much sought after too.

Now that is a sweet Chevy C20 Randy! If you do replace your Ram with that it would be pretty cool once you get it running right. Love the color combo as well and how original it is. Truck is a gem and has some great character to it! Awesome score and sweet deal!👍
Randy, the screws on the front base of the carb, turn them all way in by hand, do not use a screw driver, count how many full turns, and then back them both out to 1 full turn, Edelbrock dvd that comes with them recommends 1 1/4 turns , but you can get away with 1 turn on each, then adjust the idle screw and take it for a drive. , it's either gonna do better or it won't, but at least you can put it back way it was if that don't work, but try that before spending the money on a new carb or a rebuild kit
God bless you for remembering the former owner of this truck. Many people may not care to remember, but you must have had good family morals to live by like we all need today.

Great looking truck! I think you paid a fair price for it. With the originality and condition of everything you can tell it was taken car of well. Carburetor issues and wiring to trailer are all easy fixes.
Think you got a fair deal on the truck Randy. Not great, but not bad either, especially being a one owner. Unfortunate they pulled the vacuum hoses, cruise module and kick down. Would probably be not a lot to re-add those, maybe under a thousand.

You got a great deal. I just saw a 1987 chev 3/4 sold at the auction today, sold for 20,000, which wasn't much better.
Change out all the fluids, filters, have the seat recovered, rotate or replace all five tires, tune it up and either drive it yourself till the wheels fall off or sell it for twice what you have in it after all of the above maintenance is taken care of. That is the last generation of GM trucks worth the title "work truck". There are a number of those trucks, the same color as yours as well as red and white, and blue and white/silver still on the road and working hard as ever in our rather rural area. The damn things just won't die! By the way the U.S. military owned a butt ton load of those trucks in the 80s with both gas and diesel engines along with 3/4ton Blazers/CUTVs.

I would definitely have bought that truck three-quarter ton 350 well taken care of probably garage kept the way it looks that is an awesome truck. Congratulations. Most people might not give that much money for it but I’m a truck guy and I love nostalgia and storage just like you said and I would definitely got that truck. Congratulations. I'd call the price not out of the ballpark, but the seller definitely got all the money. The cheaper ones you found will get above that really quick once you start addressing all their issues, plus all the time you will be out doing the work. I had one basically just like it & with trailer brakes, & it was perfectly adequate for hauling even large vehicles for long distances. I did move a bobcat with it once, and while I survived, I wouldn't recommend following in my footsteps on that particular bright idea, but even things like 70's caddys, fullsize pickups, etc. it did with no issue.
