Interesting critique of the hot sauce design. I think the reason they might have gone with the diamond for the heat level warning is probably because it seems to be aimed at an north american market. The diamond shape (especially with the white and black border) evokes north american warning road signs. If it was made for the european market, maybe having the triangle with a border sign would work too. But yeah that design is 🔥🔥🔥
That's why it's very important to write your choices to the client l. It's there for a reason and explaining it will make the client understand the concept
I designed the packaging, that's exactly what I was going for with the heat rating. I wanted the packaging to feel fun but add a little bit of a warning to show just how hot the hotsauce would be. glad you liked it!
4:52 Will, the A-ha! moment you missed in the hypothetical Animal Planet logo redesign was the semispheric negative space under the elephant’s legs that suggest a planet (even though the elephant is “playing” with a small planet in its trunk) much like what you see in the current blue logo.
I'm an amateur designer, I have a background in Photoshop, 1 year now, and I just got started in illustration. Just got on TH-cam to get some inspiration and maybe get some lessons from some more experienced logo designers and boom! Will uploaded 1 hr ago. 🔥
The Musuem of Modern Art logo reads (Roman numeral) XI to me. I also think the middle part is too heavy compared to the left triangle and the right vertical beam.
I noticed all of your videos like this have a cool concept companies, I’d be interested in seeing how really lame companies, like government consulting companies, can be improved by cool branding
my first ever encounter with logo and graphic design et seq. only to discover that there are at least 40 shades of grey between the positive and the superlative, without resorting to expletives! Thank you so much Will Paterson. I'm hooked!
The English School logo looks better suited for a large bank or financial institution rather than for a school. Also, the Paqui design is simply fantastic. Great job done there.
@@willpatersondesign absolutely, the English school one is very similar to the branding of my university here in Northern Ireland, Ulster university, with a dark navy background, yellowish gold logo including a open book and white text lol but very fitting design.
Thank you very much Will! I appreciate your feedback😊 it's the first time that I can appear in your video after several attempts and succeed makes me understand that what I’m creating is functional in the world of branding and not only "beautiful" from a graphic point of view😄
Absolutely great critique video. I'm actually amateur logo Designer. Your video really help me Will. Thanks to make a tips for logo design it's really help me Will. Bless you.
The paqui was a great design, I think the Museum of Modern art was the best one overall. Is it just me or does the negative space of the M spell out art?
Just thought it should be noted that Paqui is an existing brand, the creator is getting a lot of praise for the logotype though they didn't design it (They did say that in the comments of the post)... hmm did Will not read the context 👀 The rest of the design is great though, good work!
It's posible to found out if there is stolen elements from other people logos ? Like i add logo image and genereta it and then it gives some resoults from resourses with links to other similar logos ? Sorry for bad eng.
3:24 - A very bad decision to add a ball near the elephant's nose, it has a bad association as if this elephant was trained, performed in a circus, so the animal of the planets would be associated with its complete opposite, where this brand is to be associated with animal protection and not torture.
About the sauces mockup, as a packaging designer for 25 years, I can tell they are totally wrong. Sure they look beautiful, but in real life, you get limited with the food industry rules for font size and where / how some informations should be shown. So most super cool food mockup are impossible to be done. Yeah, food industry has that way to make any great design a bit desapointing...
I don't like the circle near the trunk of the elephant for the Animal Planet logo. Looks like a circus elephant playing with a ball, which isn't very apt for wildlife, and isn't a great idea to endorse in 2022
English school one has a clean, nice look in itself. But the symbol is quite confusing to decipher (one might get the book though). Really forced, the way you've tried turning the "book" shapes into letters, that's a shoehorned design. It's not working. The point of having shapes also conveying letters is that it should be an obvious thing that makes one associate the symbol with the name of what it represents
Hope you guys enjoyed the video! Which logo was your favourite? :)
I really liked Paqui Hot Sauce. Just looking at it makes my mouth water in fear of the heat! :D
Hi Will, I'm glad to be back here as a subscriber. Please, how can I submit my logo/portfolio for critique?

Great to see you here!
Really really appreciate you critiquing my Adobe redesign Will! Thank you for your advice, definitely taken this on board! Really appreciate you.

Jos, If you 'Squint, Flip or Blur' it looked like AI and I thought that was pertinent.

That's a good suggestion!
Kudos to the Animal Planet redesign. I think it's more consistent with their previous branding and is more playful.

Thanks very much for the kind words, I designed the packaging for Paqui. Agree with you on the school logo.
@@peyton.simpson Bravo. 👏👏Very nicely done. Keep up the good work.👍
Omg Will didnt know you were a TH-camr now good on you hope Niaomi is doing well also its been far too long since I last saw or spoke to you
The Adobe one looks like an open paper clip. Which kind of throws off the brand to be an office supply store instead of a house for designers.
Literally sat down to noms and was hoping to watch a you vid and bam! Perfect timing
Hope you enjoyed it!

I like the hot sauce design. It really seemed hot open looking. And plus, I joined the reddit community😎😁 hoping to get featured.

You can use Google 'Image reverse search' but it's not foolproof, it's always best to do your own research too :)

Possibly a reference to the old logo where planet earth used to be, but at first glance, which is the most important, it's a ball.
The first logo is almost identical to The Bank Of Ireland logo
Animal Planet and Paqui was 🔥🔥🔥
Can you break down " Rap Caviar" from Spotify, it was incredible.
The animal planet redesign is 🔥
Paqui is an existing brand, the logo was not created for this, and once you take that out the rest of the packaging looks super amateur/basic
