Animated shaders are quite a rare beast in Destiny 2. So I've been through all the shaders in my collections and fiddled with them to see which ones are add cool animated effects to your armor and weapons.
So here's my list of all the animated shaders, what they do and how to get them!

Worth noting that thanks to Xur, getting those rare "dismantle an item" shaders might not be impossible anymore, like when he brought Shadow Gilt a while ago. Hopefully his pool is wide enough to make something like Bergusian Night available again!

If I recall correctly, Xur and Ada have both sold the Black Armory gear several times and those have a chance of rolling with the shaders. I only had the regular one and refurbished, so I got the remaining three from dismantling. No Bergusia, so that's either a rare drop or truly gone forever.
@@loran3860 it was only available on curated BA weapons unfortunately. so unless they come back in WQ, Bergusian is gone forever

Iridescent Coral slowly changes colors on “glow” effect items. Most of the Dawning sparrows, the glowing Halloween ghost shell, etc. It also makes glows brighter most of the time.
So glad you take the time to this kind of stuff. Have tried a lot of those shaders but never noticed the slight animations.

You can still get the gambit emerald btw...sort of. You have to dismantle the Trinary System fusion rifle you can earn playing gambit.
Do you know the chance of getting the fusion with the shader?
Tetsudo is the anti-animated/lights. It will turn any light source off and make them black.
Bitterpearl ((has white fast moving stars or so) from VoG)) and
Shattered Sky ((has an impuls effect) from exploring Europa) are also animated
@Conquest put this shader on a sparrow and see the magic
Holy shit.... you're right... shattered sky does have animation to it. It does in fact pulse on metallic armor materials. It's very subtle sadly.
Another thing about bergusian shader. On many things it creates a pink-ish pattern that is quite unique to any shader. It is best seen in the season of the chosen silver ornaments but also seen very subtle on many other armor and weapons

God I wish I’d played more Gambit ! That Gambit Emerald is Bloody Gorgeous 😘 I wish Eva could get her stall back like D1 and sell all the quest and season shaders we missed out on

Timing!
The initial four that came from Season of the Forge actually came back during Season of the Splicer with Ada-1! Not sure if you can get them now though. Thanks for the video!

yeah I got them during season of the splicer and farmed some black armory armor
On certain items the blueshift dreams will give an animated pitch black effect. I know some of the blue or white titan armor has this effect. Like one of the helmets
Of course, the craziest part of this video is actually all the ornaments you have. My goodness man, fashion icon you are.
I really wish we could put regular shaders on exotic weapons.

Vintage Timber and Oiled Algae are also Somewhat animated.
When applied to a weapon that has a light, like Fatebringer, or an armor piece like any of the Star constellation sets. The Lights will turn off and on like a light dimmer.
Looks very fancy on some items.
And if you put Chitin Slate on an item that has a light it will turn it off. Completely

Try Vintage Timber on Comets Stir In Dream (Cuirass of the Falling Star ornament) it looks incredible! It fluctuates lighted parts of the armor from red to yellow, and everything in between.
Easily my fave look on my Titan right now.
So does oiled gunmetal on items with secondary sets of lights. Like the Nine weapons/ghost.
The mad Monk and braytek innovation can also turn off lights on certain items. The dirty rust colored shaders from The Forsaken expansion can make lights dimmer or dirty.
the four black armory shaders, new age black armory, rasmessen clan, house of merlin, and satou tribe, are all still obtainable

@@zachmurphy3396 I'm not exactly sure, but I joined last season( season of the splicer) and have all four shaders. I believe you have to dismantle the the balck armoury armour and the shaders will drop from that, I'm not sure though

The Victory Over the Vault shaders are animated as well. They're subtle and I had the easiest time viewing the animation on The Fourth Mark ship, but it's there.
Bitter pearl is chatter white from destiny 1 and it had a moving effect. You get it from finding 13 secret crystals in VOG
A few more things: Oiled Algae and Vintage Timber have pulsating blue glows on certain material types too. Bergusian Night has the Niobe Labs symbols floating on it when you use it on certain weapons with large surface areas. Also, some shaders such as Temperature Wash, Chitin Slate, Testudo, Gambit Leather/Chrome, and the Warmind shaders (Genotype NULL, Mad Monk, Golden Trace) actually remove any glows present on most armors or weapons, like visors or lights. Not animated but still a neat effect depending on your look.
I'm so sad I didn't play more Gambit when I started, I didn't get any of the really cool shaders like Gambit Emerald and Jadestone. Besides that the only shaders I don't have from this list is First Frost because I started in Season of Arrivals.

"First Light" from Season of Opulence I think has a wave through it as well. I noticed it on the MirthMobile Sparrow by chance.
You hit the nail right on the head, I was going to point out a certain shader to you and you dropped this video, lol. I found that the shaders “Oiled Algae and Vintage Timber” has a certain affect on hunter helmets where it makes the eyes glow on and off. (Works good on Celestial Nighthawk and Pathfinder helmet) So far, I’ve only seen this effect on a few hunter helmets, I haven’t seen it on the warlock or titan. And it only affects the helmet.
It effects lights on weapons and armor as well
there are some shaders that are also animated in a different way, they do the same as Bergusian Night on armor but they fade in and out on the lights on your armor, shaders like Oiled Algea and VIntage Timber do this, don't know about any more.Also iridescent coral on VOG weapons will make the lights go RGB ( but takes like 10 min to go through the full spectrum).

The four wavy Forge shaders are actually still obtainable. I got them last season, I believe. Just a heads up for those of you that really like that look.
How did you get them?
@@xSTH1TMANx You just have to dismantle Forge armor (Woven Firesmith for hunters, I can't remember the names of the titan and warlock ones). It still drops, but they're not common. Ada might sell them, but I'm not sure.

Bergusian Night was the only thing standing between me and a title in the forge season. I spent forever running forged and dismantling great stuff and never got it. Guess what fell out of the first piece I dismantled the next season?! 😆

Seven Sisters is probably my favorite animated shader. But honestly my favorite shader is Cryptic legacy. But the reason I love it is because its hard to get (flawless Deep Stone Crypt) and B its hard to get. Way better than the one from flawless VoG.

I don’t know if this falls into the same category, but I noticed if you combine the hunter’s Pathfinder helmet with the Vintage Timber shader, the glowing eyes turn on and off repeatedly. I think it looks best with the baggy hoods that cover most of the helmet.
Vintage Timber also makes the ornament for the exotic Cuirass for the Titan to change colors.

Vintage timber has a fade effect on lights on armor.
You know, the shader First Light is also animated.
For follow up video I think it would be cool if you made a video that shows shaders that animate lights on guns and armor like Vintage Timber, Oiled Gunmetal, Alchemy Scorched etc.
Oh yeah I forgot about first light.
You are right it is animated sadly the purple is just too dark to notice sometimes.
Looks really good on solid color sparrows.

Gambit jade, it is not animated, but it looks great on the hunter. It gives a nice glow to certain armor pieces.
there is a new animated shader available through leveling up the crucible at the moment. its red and similar to mystophor

I'd like to add a different animation that you didnt mention which makes the accent lights on weapons and armore like Circular Logic for example strobe different colors! Scarlet Semblance, Basalt Toxic, Oiled Gunmetal, Sinking Feeling and there are a few others. Also Crucible Horizon as that wavy animation as well.
Vintage Timber and Oiled Algae give a pulse/breathing effect to anything that light lighted

Actually, you can get House of Meyrin still as well as Satou Tribe or New Age Black armory. You just need to dismantle a piece of Black Armory armor and get lucky.

Photo finish on season of the deep armor changes the entire color of the armor
One of my favorite animated shaders is caller Crucible Horizan. You get it from crucible lol. It looks amazing.

I thought you could still get still those black armory shaders from the splicer activities. Just not Bergusian night I do believe that one is definitely gone for now at least.
I don't know how, but my friend managed to get all the Black Armory shaders despite only starting the game during splicer. How? and can I still get them? Because I really want those shaders.

What about the shaders you find around and dismantling the item with the shader on, if that doesnt make sense when you go in the collection and hover over an uncollected shader it says find an item with this shader equiped and dismantle it…yes how do you find those shaders???

I just found something really weird out. If you put Gambit Emerald on The Prod ship, it becomes the fastest and most obvious animated shader ever. It's frikkin weird.

So all of the shaders that say dismantle to get dint work for me. Any one else have this issue.
Its a random drop chance which can be quite harsh sometimes!
