    This is so disgusting. She's 19 years old, she knew better. It's not her mother business. She could have summoned the nurse after giving birth and explained what happened and told them she wanted to put the baby up for adoption and not discuss her business in front of the mother. Smh I hope a lesson was learned and punishment is given

      Why say "I told you about this" if she didn't know? Did her mom teach her to kill her baby outside of the hospital? What was the mother's warning about?

      @@uriahturd9695I believe the hospital had already told her that she was pregnant from a urine test but she swore that it was wrong, so they were waiting on the results of a blood test. I could very well be wrong, but I believe that's how it happened. Some more than likely they had a discussion about the urine test. Not defending her at all, because she's a terrible person.. They both are IMO..

      Your brain is definitely not fully developed. Most research nowadays says it isn't fully developed till 25 (some speculate 27 for men because they lack impulse control) I know I made a ton of stupid choices when I was 19. Having a child when I was broke was not one of them. If I did have a child or knew one was on the way I would've said something. I was living with my wife (at the time girlfriend) the moment I turned 18 though and a good friend who owned a place already and gave us very cheap rent so we could get on our feet and she could finish nursing school. There are a lot of good people out there. Don't let this stuff make you lose faith in humanity.

  • @LynnEsq
    @LynnEsq 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +11

    I'm an attorney and the defense was absolutely right in its legal argument.
    Yes, the facts of this case are awful. But:
    There is a physician patient privilege that can only be waived by the patient. Here, the patient was Alexis and she did not waive the privilege.
    Legally, the video of the doctor talking to Alexis in the hospital room with the police present should not be allowed into evidence because it is inadmissible under law.
    I understand why people are upset about this. But there are rules of evidence that must be followed in every single case.
    The doctor should not have brought the police officer while she spoke with Alexis.
    The officer should have left the room or alternatively mirandized her.
    Instead, the officer stayed in the room and listened to the doctor questioning Alexis.
    Alexis had the right to remain silent since there was a police officer present. But the officer never read her her rights.
    Therefore, anything said during the conversation between Alexis and the doctor should not be admissible.
    It's a muddying of the waters between medical care and a legal interrogation of a suspect who is in police custody.
    As a society, we do not want doctors and nurses acting as an arm of the police as an end around (ie, to prevent defendants from exercising their rights).

      That incompetency is exactly why this happened in the first place. The mother should have never been told the girl was pregnant and should have been removed from the room when they said that. More incompetence from the hospital and police is why they violated her HIPPA rights and violated her Miranda rights, and allowed her case to be dismissed. I personally think this all could have been avoided, had they used situational awareness like they are trained to do and removed her mother from the situation. Just like you would do an abuser. But bad decisions all around allowed this to happen. All people involved are grossly negligent.

    They keep saying she had a “strange” relationship with her mum or that she was acting “strange” afterwards when talking about not knowing she was pregnant ,, but I don’t see anything strange here at all! It’s obvious she was an immature girl who had one of them relationships where her mum basically did everything for her, like a 14/15 year would have with there mum! She was clearly close to her mum and her mum probably made a lot of her decisions for her! She’s probably had a really sheltered life due to her immaturity and wouldn’t have known what being pregnant felt like! I’m not defending her I’m just saying it’s not strange! She’s panicked and didn’t want to tell her mum what had just happened so didn’t. It’s not strange is my point

      Did you not watch until the end? The hospital violated her HIPPA rights and the police violated her rights by not reading her the Miranda rights. Because of these colossal f*** ups, her case was dismissed. People can be outraged all they want, but this is what happens when people are incompetent.
      *The staff should have never even divulged that she was pregnant in front of her mother in the first place.* And _definitely_ as soon as she started to deny it and telling her mom she's still a virgin, *should have been the biggest clue* to remove her mother from the room. Her mothers pressuring presence made it so that she was not going to be honest and do what she did in order to avoid her wrath. Then they repeatedly violated her rights, hospital and police.
      Had they used their brain and picked up on what was going on, _like they are trained to do,_ and removed her mother, which was so obvious a layman could have noticed that immediately and _even the staff said so_ in their questioning, and had done things by the book, maybe this all could have been avoided. Or at least not let her walk away scot free because *they are so incompetent they completely disregarded her HIPPA rights & Miranda rights.*
      In my opinion this whole thing is just sad and I feel the hospital shoulders some blame here. You have to have situational awareness. It's well known that it's common for kids to deny to their overbearing/abusive parents that they are sexually active, the nurse said so herself. *So use that knowledge and handle the situation with nuance and remove the parent that is causing the grief and fear in the patient.* Just like they are trained to remove the abuser from the room so the patient can speak freely and hopefully get some help. Cases like this is no different.
      *They are trained to recognize these situations and should have acted accordingly.* She is an adult which means _the parent has no right to know any of the information they divulge._ And they shouldn't have said anything in front of the parent *TO BEGIN WITH* or removed her from the room immediately _as soon_ as it was clear she was going to lie in order to avoid her mom.
      All around bad decisions from *EVERYONE.*

    Kind of wild they didn't open the door even after 20 min. Shit 10 min should've been the max before they physically check on her. When i went to the hospital for detox I had to use the bathroom and they unlocked it with a master key after about 5 minutes cause they thought i may have been using "one last time." Even though I was responsive abd answering them through the door. Once they seen i was just sitting on the pot they let me be haha. Imo knowing a patient is pregnant is much more serious than a person potentially using drugs and being in the bathroom for 20 minutes is kind of a big red flag. Screwed up situation all around, but the fault is definitely on the killer.
    Edit: Wow aftet watching this again this chick is a freaking monster...

      That part, as soon as hospital staff found out she was preggo they should have removed the mother from the room and explained all of the options to alexee. That she could safely hand over the baby and no one would have to know, no one would ask questions and that she would not be in trouble. She was so afraid of getting in trouble for losing her virginity that she did the unthinkable to hide it. So sad.

    • @sexyfrex8567
      @sexyfrex8567 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It was the hospital and polices incompetence that allowed this to happen in my opinion, and also allowed her to walk away without repercussions, since they violated her rights multiple times. As soon as they told her she's pregnant and she denies it in front of her mom and tries to say she's a virgin, should have been the indicator they needed to remove the mother from the room. Honestly the fact they said that with her in the room at all is mind boggling.

(e.g., therapists have to report a patient if they demonstrate they have a plan for suicide or murder) I can see both sides of this thing. I believe she DOES have to pay some kind of penalty for what she did, however.
