Amazing work. I didn't think it would be so well restored. D: I love this kind of upholstery. I'm often one of the people who pays more attention to upholstery than to the type of design in which it's used. I have a Florence Arm chair from Manhattan Home Design and I love its caramel finish. Tan leather will always be among my favorites.
We were just gifted a gorgeous sofa that retails for 7k, no experience with leather whatsoever... To say this video brought my stress levels down is an understatement, lol. Will definitely be purchasing a kit and reviewing it very soon! Thank you!
Thank you not only do you make a great product, but you really take the time to teach us who know nothing about leather how to care for it. I bought a used leather couch and was gifted the recliner because it was way worn. So excited to repair it now!! 😁
tl;dw 1. 4:50 clean with their "cleaner" (probably standard degreaser like soap+water) + then rubbing alcohol 2. 21:00 sand down craters and rough spots to prevent more cracking 3. 23:39 apply dye liberally by hand 4. 34:35 apply thin layer of filler to cracks/crevices. 5. 51:55 let filler dry, sand lightly to smooth and reapply dye, repeat process for better results 6. remaining video: product pitch
Really nice work, great product, looks easy to do, chair looks like new. This kit/ process, can help save a ton of money. But can you go much lighter? For instance, if my chair is burgundy, can I dye it a light cream color?
I have 2 leather chairs one is great it has a nice smooth matte sheen all over, the other has sticky rough strips only on the top of the arms. I can take my finger and rub the surface and roll the sticky leather off. I cleaned it with a little dish soap and water with a brush. I also used leather cleaner/conditioner. It made the surface really sticky. I dried it with a towel and I’m keeping it covered. It almost looks like someone wore it down then dyed it and never sealed it. It’s supposed to be smooth but it feels more like suede. How do I get it back to smooth like the matching chair?? P.S. I think the black sticky stuff is oil from skin. I noticed it on the head rest on both chairs.
9:47 this is what's confusing me if we are to use a pigmented water based acrylic "paint" not dye but I think you are using the term dye because the pigment does sort of work like a dye, wouldn't you need the clear top coat stripped completely to ensure a lasting paint job? Meaning just soil/oil cleaning and leaving some of the factory protective finish [because this is a, by design, a non permeable (water beads) "finished" factory dyed (look at the color of the top and suede underside they are the same) top grain leather]. I want a job that will last, I'm considering these kits but not only for a "refurb, aka same color" but certainly a color change, I'd use either denatured AL or lacquer thinner after a soil cleaning with you product. Please advise. Thank you for your wonderful videos on this topic.
? 35mins. in you started with the filler on the left armrest. As time goes by and the leather is treated will the filler prevent the leather treatment (cream/oil etc) from going into the leather?

4:04 gloves + kit 4:44 Throw the cap somewhere 😂 4:50 cleaner 15:24 Clean the leather thoroughly of isopropyl alcohol 99%... 19:30 then throw it on the dirty floor 😭
U have a lot of experience with what you are doing and you are also happy with the result. But i would first have cleaned the leather. Second, condition it and use filler wait six hours and use another layer of the filler. I know u said u want to see some character of it and i do agree with that but im not using heat blower to speed up the proces because it will only dry the leather out. Last but not least i would color the seat It was still an informative video and deserves a like for appreciation.

Question. Why apply the dye before the filler? Any reason to not do filler first then dye the whole chair afterwards?
Can we use scotch brite instead of the sandpaper?
Really nice work, great product, looks easy to do, chair looks like new. This kit/ process, can help save a ton of money. But can you go much lighter? For instance, if my chair is burgundy, can I dye it a light cream color?
Could I also use this product to entirely change the color of the leather?
awesome content

Hallo do you have salmon pink colour
Can you do this and take it to a much darker color leather?
What is the difference between using a leather dye and or a leather paint kit. How do you know which is best for your leather.

Why does the leather crack like that? I always thought leather cracked because it was dry
@henrysmith180 yes, it cracked because nobody ever hydrated it with leather moisturizer. I recommend Leather CPR.
