- DISASTER: Ford HALTS Shipments To Dealers
In this video I talk about Ford's current struggles and give an update on my dealership.
My name is Brandon and I am a used car dealer. I created Car Questions Answered to share the ins and outs of the used car market from my perspective. I share with you updates on car prices, what's happening at the dealer auctions, and what it's like being a dealer. My goal is to share information to help you make the best decisions while buying a car to save you money. I do not want car dealers taking advantage of you.
Thanks for watching and please feel free to leave any comments you may have in the section below!

The hell with dealers. I went to my local Ford dealer to buy a Bronco Sport at an advertised price of $27,000. When the buy sheet came out it was over $30,000 after they added stuff back in including a $1,695 dealer prep fee. I laughed at them, told them I would never be back, and walked out. They can dissappear as far as I am concerned. My local Subaru dealer doesn't pull this garbage.
Ewew cvt transmission !!!! Have fun with that .
@@TechJedi29mine is at 120,000 miles and going strong. Change the fluid every 40-50,000 miles. That goes for any automatic transmission.
@@d.vanwinkle9482 I believe it should be every 30K miles for a Subaru CVT, and if its a ZF 8 speed auto tranny, ZF recommends every 50K miles.
lmao a dealer prep dang they are skimming for whatever they can.
Wonder how much you have to pay in mehico. I think tats where their assembled.😮
A heads up to Ford's management: One can ignore reality...
But one can never ignore the consequences of ignoring reality...
A friend wanted a new Ford sedan and asked me for a recommendation. I informed him that Ford doesn't make such a vehicle anymore. Get a Toyota Camry.
good advice
That's solid ,, a true friend !!
A used Fusion wouldn't be a bad idea
I noticed the local Ford dealership didn't have a spot on their lot to park a new vehicle. They were closed so I pulled in and parked and walked 4 or 5 lots. I could not believe the prices. Not saying they were amazing but they were much lower than before. Brand new Raptors for 58k I thought was impressive compared to what I saw a year or 2 ago. I must say I enjoyed what I saw.
Ford only makes 4-wheeled Kleenix Boxes, unless you fancy a Mustang.
All these people finally realized they gave 5k-15k gifts to dealerships. Customers are trapped and now both parties are screwed.
It started with ridiculously inflated MSRPs!
@jamesshopshirejr5566 the markups came first
@@JimBeary and the BS "Market Adjustment" mark-ups. I hope all of the stealerships that participated in this bs go bankrupt! They brought it on themselves.
Good. Hope they both lose everything
Imagine having paid 35k over MSRP on a truck that is now discounted 10k plus.
Pretty much stuck in that car at that point. Lot of pain out there coming for a lot of people when it comes time to try to get a new car.
I only buy used, typically 5 years old or more and never anything over $20k. Do 80% of my own mechanical work, and spend around $1-2k per vehicle/year on maintenance, tires, etc. Save huge on insurance as well, and NEVER upside down. Great channel!
Ford has nobody to blame but themselves. They told customers the lightning would start at 45k and then when they come out they are 75k plus 20k in bs markups.
They are garbage anyway. Buddy of mine bought one for some reason. He hates it. The range is terrible and riding in it you can tell it wasn’t built to last.
it was a mistake to build them in the first place. thats on biden
No one wants the EV garbage
Dealers aren’t hiding it. At this point, they’re flat out trying to burn customers with these prices. Now each time I see a new vehicle dealer paper plate, I automatically think the customer burned themselves. Sad times.
I went to Carmax to get a car. Normally they cost more, but in my case it was comparable to the other car dealerships. I refuse to pay $299 for nitrogen fill tires, when the air we breathe is 78% nitrogen already.
idk I just got a car for under 4k and dont feel scammed.
I actually think the same thing every time I see a temp tag. I couldn't believe what I found when I entered the market 1.5 years ago. People staring me dead in the eyes, trying to rob me of thousands. I was blown away and went with zero-negotiation Carvana, despite the pitfalls. No regrets, really.
There's deals to be had now. There will be better deals to be had still but there are deals out there now. You can pick off 2023's right now that are still sitting there new for some really good discounts.
A lot of folks are still being taken to be sure but don't believe everyone got taken. Some of these dealers are waking up to the new reality.
Dealers having hard times, what a shame. Been sticking it to customers forever. Delivery, prep , add onns, low trade in price,ECT. 35--40 k for plastic crap that doesn't last and You can't repair. All of them one step above thieves.

So glad I bought a Dodge diesel in 2001 23 great years, and still dragging my camp trailer everywhere.
I have a 2015, fantastic truck
When they first announced the lighting, its base price was 35k, was the reason for the hype .now it's twice that people aren't as thrilled
It was $39,974 but you're correct. That was why I wanted one. I could justify that price. It's now got a base msrp of $54,995. That is not competitive. Why would I buy that when I can buy a Prius with higher reliability for 28k.
It’s difficult to locate reliable available charging stations for them. A road trip in a Lightning isn’t really practical.
@@mosessupposes2571 Ford EVs are now open to Teslas Supercharger network with an adapter Ford is providing for free. That should help.

@leos3003 not me! I got better use for my money!
I will tell you the Ford dealerships down here in Texas were putting mark ups that were just outrageous over the last six years and I do not feel sorry for them at all….
$20k for a truck sounds about right. Anything more is highway robbery
I agree with that 20grand. Sounds affordable. Charles.
100% spot on.
Agree
In 1967 you could buy a stripper work truck for $2000 delivered. 6 banger 3 on tree radio heater short bed. That is $18,647 in today's money. So $20k sounds reasonable place to start
Absolutely. Looked at a 2019 Silverado LS(low trim) for $33,700. I told them they are high! Also, included a $1,900 destination charge for a used vehicle, WTH! They wonder why their greedy, cheating, unethical, lieing assess can't sell vehicles!!!
They keep lowering the prices on the upper packages but they’re not lowering the barrier of entry. For 30-40k I’d be a buyer. They just aren’t understanding the fact that these are completely unaffordable for 80% of the public
Just because you can doesn’t mean you should!! Smart consumers are their worst nightmare!!
Low mileage, Lease trade in Frontiers with a factory warranty are going for high 20s/low 30s right now. Best deal on a truck out there if you ask me.
Got 200k on my 2011 V6 Frontier, rolling fine..
And there’s the point, people like me that are in the top .1% are even saying this insanity has to stop. Give me the value and I am a buyer, but the Big 3 do not provide value, and haven’t in the past few years.
My local Ford dealer tried to sell me a Maverick for $10K over a sticker (a year ago). I kept my money. As I walked out of the dealership, I saw a lightning price for double the cost of the MSRP. The base model was $40K & the markup was $40K, totaling $80K. After seeing this level of greed, I will never buy a Ford again. The lightings are now priced at $8K off the sticker. 🤦🏾
True. Drove by a Ford stealership and saw about twenty of those Lightnings sitting on their lot.
Democrats pushing EV's when everybody with a functioning brain knew they were doomed .
I would buy one at a 50% discount. I'm not gonna hold my breath for that.

true.
You said it!
The target demographic „people who want a truck but don’t need a truck“ is HUGE
Much of these problems are self inflicted wounds by both Ford and the dealers. Dealers added crazy markups, dealersv didn't want to sell EVs. Ford priced their cars too high and can't make them at lower prices.
How are they supposed to reduce prices when they're losing economy of scale, especially after the UAW negotiated for additional compensation? Look at their global sales over the last decade.
It's not really Ford's fault that the world increasingly doesn't want their ICE vehicles. Yeah, they could have started to pivot to EVs two decades ago, but it'd have been expensive and error-prone, and no one else really did it either.
EV's are doa. Democrats pushed that nonsense
@@herbcanter2114 Tell it to Tesla.
@@herbcanter2114 lol. We haven't bought gas for our two cars in over four years. EVs are the best cars by far. No maintenance. Just tires and washer fluid. You got it wrong.

I've been shopping for an SUV....I've been calling dealers asking if they add crap eg nitrogen-filled tires, paint protection, etc. ONE dealership says they don't. Every other dealer pulls this crap. It's insulting.
That ONE, was lying.
Another thing is Work from Home. I can see where a 2-car household will defer a purchase if one of the 2 people work from home, they only need 1 "good" car and the second can be a hooptie "just in case" the other person needs to go somewhere - especially if the second person also has WFH days.
Yep - we put a fraction of the miles on our cars compared to 2019.
1 car and use Uber once in awhile when needs arise.
They will just keep their vehicles longer.
Hard to work from home if you have a blue collar job like working in a factory, mine, construction. IJS
@@Sivart-508PIR Yes, and? Life isn't fair, not everyone has the same benefits and tribulations. That is absolutely beside the point. The fact that people work from home and drive less will result in less car use, and in extent in less car buying. That doesn't mean there is no net benefit to those who do need to drive to work: Less congestion, less pollution, less traffic accidents. The fact that I'm not on the road next to a nurse has one less potential person not paying attention and causing her to have an accident, at least potentially.
Chrysler and GM both laid off workers this week. This is going to be bad. This is just the start.
Yep- massive layoffs for all American made manufacturers coming.
Thanks UAW!!👍💯
Biden just praised Fain last night. UAW is doing great he said.
They did it to themselves on purpose. Now they'll attack the union worker. Rinse and repeat
Yup lay them off because the board is not making there hundreds of millions dollars a yr.... Go figure... Do not bail out any big auto maker ever again.
The people that paid markups for a new truck of any kind are the same people that paid over asking for a house the last 3 years. Now, they are upside down. Terrible purchase.
The problem with vehicles is that they don't have the opportunity to appreciate like a home does.
Did housing prices go down ? Prices seemed flat
Yes there is good debt and bad debt.
I'm either the luckiest guy in the world or just make the decisions at the right time.
Bought a house for 60% market value in 2019, now after market went up, I'm at less than 40% value financed, refinanced to just over 2% right before APR went up.
Then I bought a car end of last year where including financing (meaning including interest over the 60 months), I paid pretty much what the going rate is right now. I mean, I negotiated the price down to have the equivalent of 0% financing - interest rate is at 4.9%, but I negotiated 27k of a car that's at a going rate of 31k. It is a 8 months old certified preowned (well, was a loaner fleet vehicle) with less than 8k miles.
@@Thoringer well sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good lol. Congrats
I won't buy ANYTHING from Ford and only spare parts from GM. They have taken advantage of me too, too many times and I'm Not going to forget it !
My 2022 F250 with 14k miles has been in the shop for four weeks - for can’t fix the electronics. Gives little confidence they can make an all-electric truck.
Tax refunds are way smaller as compared to the last 3-yrs
Many refunds smaller because people changed their W4's. They needed more money per pay period rather than stacking up a year end refund. Another reality of Jobamanomics.

The idea of having a pickup as an EV is counterintuitive. A truck's going to have to work hard and that means it's going to be pulling a lot of current. Give me a conventionally fueled truck any day of the week. But not at the prices they're asking. Asking a consumer to pay essentially the cost of a starter house for a vehicle is insulting.

The exact issues that the dealerships are having because they keep price gouging is exactly why I will not buy a car from a dealership anymore.
Your style and format is great. So entertaining and informative
I bought a Tesla a few month ago. A refreshing experience. Price is the price with no BS. There was a lineup to pick up the cars. I asked the guy haw many he sold a day and he said 50 on average. That was one of three dealers in our city.
I went to a Tesla dealership last week and did the same thing. The guy said he sold about 75 Tesla’s a day. I bought one from him.
Tesla is easy. Go online, see what is available online at the price. No hassle. The only upsell is FSD.
Our rural Ford dealer was forced to take 3 Mack es. They didn’t want them. Ford forced them to take them.
Swallowing 🐖💩
You assume that you mean Mach-E's.
That's actually a good thing. I came from a place like that and while rural people are obstinate to change, they need to exposed to stuff like this. When they realize they don't need the jacked up, black smoke belchin pickup truck as a grocery getter, the world is better for it.
Spread that propaganda somewhere else. EVs are not better for the environment. @@RedRider-mb3wt
Mach Es are priced WAY too high.
That said, there is irony in one aspect where there is benefit to the Mach E being in a rural area: people outside the city tend to have their own homes. So they can charge overnight and save money by not having to buy gasoline.
The flipside, of course, is that being outside the stop & go of city driving there isn't much benefit from regenerative braking.
Not only do I like the content you cover, but your presentation is great. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Respect...
I appreciate that!
Everybody wanted the lightning pro with the extended battery for the price they initially said. But till this day refuse to ship the pro model with the extended battery.
The purpose of a truck is to serve as a "working men's car," not a luxury vehicle. Even the base model, with an MSRP (before markup) of around 50k, exceeds the annual wage of many people.
Well, it is a direct connect in what is happening in this economy.
IRS is shocking a lot of us this year. Not getting any of my money back.
Someone’s got to pay for all the federal money being handed out and that someone is always us.
Change is coming hard!
I remember not long ago seeing lightnings with a $100k price tag plus huge dealer markups. Just imagine the people that bought them at those prices trying to trade them in? They’re probably so upside down that they’ll never get out of it lol
and its 100 percent there fault. The Stanley cup crowd.
They are just going to have to drive them and pay the money that they signed up to pay. But..... im sure there will be some crying.
They can deal with it.....maybe the govt. Can bail them out, cancel their loans, renegotiate their loans, or just flat buy them out for people.....
I almost bought a 2500 ZR2 and when I backed out, the dealer was trying every trick in the book. It was so obvious they were desperate.
Short sighted conduct of the dealerships price gouging ($20k +) when the lightning first came out, killed the momentum and allowed potential customers to doubt the purchase.
Bad enough that they (like all the other dealers post Covid) gouged the customers on traditional gas/diesel truck but to allow gouging on a new fledgling technology was sure a incredibly poor business decision.

My feeling is that Ford needs new management. We need the dealerships for maintenance and repair facilities.
The dealer service dept. is the backbone of their operational expenses. Hence the $180+ hr. labor rates and jacked up parts cost. Avoid stealership service for that and the lying and scamming for up-selling service you don't need.

I can’t wait. Been wanting a new truck for five years as well as another sports car. Every time I went on a lot to look at them they told me how much plus MSRP it would be. If I hear the media report F150s are still America's best selling vehicles, I'm calling BS!
Dealerships need to stop telling customers they need to talk with their manager. These tactics are outdated. I drove by the buy here pay here lots. They are over full and have been for over a month. I should get a trailer and offer to pressure wash off all that dirt and lot rot.
If a salesman gives the let me talk to the manager just tell them to have the manager come out and all talk together. If they they don't walk out.
And birdshit. That eats into the paint. Why they park new cars for sale next to trees on the lot is beyond me.
Its going to be interesting to see how this all shells out. When the dealers eventually dump old inventory (and they will) used car prices will start to move down.
Thanks for the update. And I love disc golf as well. My kids introduced me to it and it's a lot of fun!
I think this might be more of a state by state issue. I just checked the Ford dealer near me in Torrance, California. They have 18 F-150's in stock and 12 F-150 Lightning's in stock. A second dealer near me in Hawthorne, California has 139 F-150's in stock and 45 F-150 Lightning's in stock. It looks like all vehicles and not just EV's are an issue for Ford right now.
I bought a 2006 Toyota Prius fixer upper in February 2020 for $550. Best car I've ever owned. I have zero plans of buying any new cars in the future. Good luck manufacturers.
Here's a thought Ford. If you know a stealership is adding on excessive fees stop their allotment. The dealers that don't add fees will pick up the slack.

The demand for the mach-e's, was because they said that they were going to sell them for $25K. They said that they were going to sell the Lightning for $50.K. people were interested at the original price; so they pre-ordered. Then when they arrived...well...you know the rest. No one would have said yes to a $50.K mach-E, and a $100.K ⚡ Lightning.😂
Mach E entry price when initially announced was low $40K's. Lightning's entry level price is still in the low $50K's.
Statements were made to make people not go buy something else. They think that people will be fixated on the product advertised at $42k drive away. When they actually arrive 4 months late at $57k plus dealer fees and market slop, the dealers expect to be forgiven.
Sometimes they do get forgiven.

Heard Those new led/fiber optics factory headlamp assemblies can cost a small fortune when they go out. Its not just a matter of changing a bulb. Almost justifys cost of extended warranty
Same since early 2000’s
I had few Chevy trucks and all
Of them had problem burning lightbulbs
Here you go …. My neighbour driving his Tahoe right now with burned light 🤷🏻♂️
Brandon, great video, however one slight video issue, are the black lines (banding) rolling up during the video. You must be using new LED studio lights and the frame rate of the camera is causing black lines (banding) moving upwards during the studio shots. Might check the camera settings. This is the first video I have noticed this issue. Keep up the good work sir! 🤠👍
New camera... Think we have it fixed now... Thanks for letting us know
Well, darn! Ford effed up. People got wise and realized the EV BS being shoved down their throats. I still maintain that Ford and GM are keeping thier ICE product at high prices to help offset their miscalculations in the EV sector. And those aren't selling either. Self-inflicted wounds. 😮
Look at their global sales over the last decade. They're losing economies of scale, even without being way behind on EVs. Add UAW demanding more money and the trend is not looking good, EVs or not.
I didn't look at other legacy auto companies, but the above is definitely true for Ford and GM. Not true for Toyota though; they're likely to be the top ICE maker of choice for folks who don't transition to EVs.
I strongly suspect our government is heavily subsidizing Ford and GM but keeping quiet after the backlash from bailing GM out in '08 or '09, whenever it was. Ford has lost billions on their EV program, and I'm sure GM has, too.
If that's the case, I hope it comes out very soon!@@johnk6206
@@johnk6206 And airplane manufacturers lose billions for several years when they design and ramp up production of a new airplane. That part is to be expected on a complicated product. Ford and GM are saving billions on their ICE vehicles because they are now designing and retooling for fewer new ICE models. The problem is too many high-end EV models were offered as the first EV vehicles - and there just aren't enough buyers for those. Additionally, many franchise dealers were always expected to put up a fight on selling EVs due to the decrease in service revenue.
Ford really was harmed when dealers turned the Lightning into a $100k+ truck. Especially given all the quality problems Ford has had in recent years. EVs as a market segment grew market share again last year, so other manufacturers (Tesla, Hyundai-Kia) are having success.
It isn’t just the car mortgage, insurance is through the roof in the left coast.
Once upon a time some car buyers even opted out of heaters, dash clocks , radios and carpeting due to cost and limited incomes.
We need 30k pick ups . 100k is ridiculous
My local dealer definitely has way too many mach e and lightings on their lot. Its also the least popular state for EVs, so they are just going to sit forever.
If you posted 5 times a day I would watch every one of them
”Hoovie” showed us F150 Lightnings are Useless Toys.
Sad, their small affordable $20k Rangers won't be sold in the US. Or Toyota Hilux , affordable, practical trucks. Most American males are single, 4 door trucks are overpriced family vehicles.
Bought a 2019 Silverado single cab long bed in November 2019 1/3 off MSRP FOR $21K Plus tax, tittle and license. Cash. Retired and divorced, all I need, no regrets.
Back In December I went to my local Chevrolet dealer wanted to buy a Bolt advertised on line for about high 26k got to the dealer they show one with a sticker price of 29K but they wanted me to pay 4K more they said because I it had leather seats and they didn’t want to negotiate so I went and got a 2023 leaf with 8k miles on it for close to 19k that same Day, I would have boat the Chevy bolt if they would have stuck to the sticker price but they just don’t to put greed a side.
I am here in Muskegon Michigan and our local Ford dealer which ( i love) has been doing some BIG mark downs. I even saw 20% off on a 2024 Ford F150................i never thought i would see that. The have a low amount of the lightening and a decent amount of the Mach E's. Glad to see that you are doing well and selling a ton, keep up the good work!!
Price is still too high though.
The value of my '05 F150 just keeps going up....2 wheel drive, super cab, roll up windows, 8' bed, automatic, gas V-8.
Ford doesn’t care about their customers and their needs and wants. They will only build enough Mavericks to meet their CAFE standards. They don’t care that people will buy them in droves because their greedy asses still think they can force $70k F-150s down our throats.
Farley even said in an interview that he doesn’t concern himself with what the customer wants.
@@bdun1226 exactly why I won’t buy any more Fords or any American brand any more. Loved my old Lincoln Town car, Mercurys and GMCs but I’m only buying Japanese brands for now on. Farley and Mary Barra can go ram their overpriced junk up their arses.
They filling the parking lots with f150s at the recently shut down engine plant here in michigan. Not sure if they are lightings or gassers but there are a ton of them.
Get some drone photos!
Go to a new car dealership. The salesmen are ready to pounce on anyone entering the lot.
But they are so willing to screw you over too. They fail to appreciate the delema they created for themselves.
Congratulations 🍾 on selling a ton of cars 🚗 Brandon! You’ve earned a surf and turf dinner 😎!
Dave Ramsey the financial guru says you shouldn't buy a car that's priced more then half your yearly gross income. So if you are buying a 90 thousand dollar truck , you should be making at least 180 thousand dollars gross for the year. I agree with him on that point. I myself bought a 2014 ford focus with 100 thousand miles on it for 3000 dollars cash from a little old lady who couldn't drive anymore for my daily driver to work , it gets about 37 miles to the gallon of gas and runs great. I also have a 2002 Chevy Silverado that has almost 300 thousand miles on it and still runs like the day I drove it off the lot over 20 years ago. I haven't had a car payment in over 15 years and like it that way.
I wonder when one of these corporations will open their eyes and realize if they build sedans that are between $18 - $25,000. Think of the people that would run to buy them and not to be made cheap, but to be made good. They're burning themselves with these high prices and as long as they do that oh well. I don't care
Toyota will pick up the slack and their vehicles run to 300,000 miles with simple maintenance. Corolla's and Camry's are far superior to the Focus/Fusion Ford used to sell to unsuspecting victims.
I would love if you talked about some reviews that you got from customers that you sold cars to, but their experiences were like. You seem like a pretty good salesman seem like you do a good thing for your customers, but the recording to hear from other people too
At or below MSRP is not enough. People can’t afford it. Drop prices in half and you will sell out quickly
