We added the MSI RTX 3050 6gb ($169) and 8gb ($25) more RAM. Now he's playing games like RDR2, CS2, OW2, etc. In 1080P on medium/high graphics with great frame rates.
Correct, this is the main target market of this product. Bought this 6gb variant for my mini ITX setup along with no power cable needed. This is for casual players (e.g working dads, students) ofc. 😁

I have a RTX 3050 8GB card and running out of vram in town, city and cutscenes. I have a Ryzen 5 1600 AF that is pcie gen 3. SInce it uses gen 3 my RTX 3050 and if vram runs out it causes problems. I can easily run it at medium settings without a issue but high settings is a problem. If I run around in the forest area like he did the high settings work and does not go over vram but in the town and city areas it eats over 8GB of vram.

If your PSU is old, you can buy Molex -> 6-pin adapter. But judging by the lack of any 6-pin (that's not normal), I can only suspect that it's a VERY weak PSU (250-300W). In terms of power consumption, 1050ti is identical to 3050 (6gb) so you can give it a go. Just make sure you have at least a 300W PSU from a reputaple manufacturer.

I have to buy one of the two. on Amazon the RTX 3050 6 GB costs 190€, and the 8 GB costs 240€. to be honest I need a decent graphics card to play very basic games. it's a graphics card that I will also sell in a year or two from now. I won't even play full graphics to these games, therefore 50 euros for around 10/15 FPS is something I can accept without problems. Nothing bellow rtx 4070 super is not worth to buy this days if you want all candies in modern games,and future proof system for few years ahead. 3050 is good enough for playing on 30fps but not much more.
What fz 5 ran close to 60; starfield a poorly optimized game ran at 30 a framerate which most people are fine with. A medium to high AW2 ran at 30. This gpu is good enough for someone on a budget.
nvidia has become a joke company. now they re-release more powerful cards (more power draw) under the same name and only advertise the extra vram, even though internally it has other improvements too.
I can't think of any use case where someone should buy a 3050 in 2024, be the 6GB variant or the 8GB one. A used 3060 12GB (or new if you can find it cheap) would be the best option for people on a tight budget.
They make a low profile version of the 3050 6 GB version which will fit in slimline cases. That's the main use case. Plus it doesn't need an external power connector, like the low profile 4060.
The RTX 3060 12GB are not cheap. It cost 300-320 new in my country. RTX 3050 6GB cost 180 dollars, RTX 3050 8GB cost 220 dollars new and the rx 6600 cost 310 dollars new.
That's because you're not considering people with SFF pcs. If the price goes down the LP 6gb version would be good. Upgrading an office PC with it would be a good choice if the price was right.
I bought the Asus RTX 3050 Dual 6GB just cause i wanted the fastest Pcie slot powered GPU as a novelty and that it has a DVI connection for an old Asus 27" 144HZ gaming monitor that I also still use.

Yes totally normal. There is an option somewhere to make sure fans are always spinning but that will just take more energy.

I played cyberpunk this weekend on high, 1920x1080, fps varying between 45 and 50. I think that within a specific niche and for the price I paid (below full price) it's ok

@@user-vf1fl4by7r I've been using it for almost 2 months. I basically use it to edit videos and play games. I'm playing elden ring and borderlands 3 and to be honest, the performance on ultra is very good! I recommend this GPU if you can find it at a good price.

Why would he do such a comparison. RTX 4060 is far faster than that card. He compared both RTX 3050 models against each other since that makes sense.

Got an ASUS 6gb yesterday, an impulse buy. Returned it today once I read the "fine print", got a proper 8gb but in the "lesser" Inno3D brand. Still don't know if it's worth $190USD paid?

With the same exact settings in cyberpunk i have 30fps avg with a ancient R9 290 and a r5 2600. This 3050 6gb is a piece of crap.
Nothing bellow rtx 4070 super is not worth to buy this days if you want all candies in modern games,and future proof system for few years ahead.
3050 is good enough for playing on 30fps but not much more.

What fz 5 ran close to 60; starfield a poorly optimized game ran at 30 a framerate which most people are fine with. A medium to high AW2 ran at 30. This gpu is good enough for someone on a budget.

I can't think of any use case where someone should buy a 3050 in 2024, be the 6GB variant or the 8GB one. A used 3060 12GB (or new if you can find it cheap) would be the best option for people on a tight budget.
They make a low profile version of the 3050 6 GB version which will fit in slimline cases. That's the main use case. Plus it doesn't need an external power connector, like the low profile 4060.
The RTX 3060 12GB are not cheap. It cost 300-320 new in my country. RTX 3050 6GB cost 180 dollars, RTX 3050 8GB cost 220 dollars new and the rx 6600 cost 310 dollars new.

That's because you're not considering people with SFF pcs. If the price goes down the LP 6gb version would be good. Upgrading an office PC with it would be a good choice if the price was right.

Just got an 3050 8GB (Inno3D), the box says 8-pin, company's site 6-pin. Don't know if I should open the box lol Only have 6 pin power...
I bought the Asus RTX 3050 Dual 6GB just cause i wanted the fastest Pcie slot powered GPU as a novelty and that it has a DVI connection for an old Asus 27" 144HZ gaming monitor that I also still use.
